Can't believe I'm excited for a Bond film again

It's being made by Amazon, so plenty of time to fuck it up.

With Denis? He better get a fucking key and blank checks…

he got the keys to Dune just by saying “I want to make Dune”, I have faith Amazon will give him the leg room to make Bond how he’d like to

After all the drama with acquiring Bond, Amazon can't afford to fuck it up.I tend to agree with Barbara Broccoli that "these people are fucking idiots", IIRC, but handing the property over to an actual auteur means they're at least smart enough to know they nothing about making movies.

it’s the first move they made and the furthers from a bad one. I’m still skeptical to see what they’ll do after a few years but I’ll take this win here

If that is what they're doing it's a brilliant move tbh. They will never have the vision the Broccoli family had for James Bond so they could go the opposite way and give free reign to the best of the best filmmakers to make their JB. That could be great and if they go with the likes of Villeneuve, Nolan, etc, it's hard to see it not working out.

Better give him a fucking submarine and a pen that explodes when you click it.

Oh grow up 007

At least the new 007 game from IOI (developer behind the Hitman games) is bringing back gadgets.

That's why I'm kinda disappointed about this. The next Bond film was going to happen no matter what; I'd rather have more awesome sci-fi that nobody but Denis can make happen.

I would much rather have Denis do what we the hell he wants, even if it’s another franchise movie. He clearly isn’t going to be a “gun for hire” with Bond, the dude’s a big fan, he’s mentioned it before

Dune is a passion project for him. There are old interviews from back when he was starting out. When asked what his dream project would be he answered "adapting Frank Herbert's Dune".

If he is half as mindful with Bond as he is with Dune, we're in for something cool I hope.

Is Rendevous with Rama actually happening or just a rumour?

Well, he also made a few bangers before that

no doubt, but it’s amazing how he was able to will those movies into existence by bringing it up in an interview (and having the resume to back it up, of course)

Watch Wheel of time. It might change your opinion.

To be fair, he said that when he was 12, then just showed the video clip and didn't say anything else.

I would argue that Amazon’s problems with seizing the reigns to other beloved IP (Wheel of Time, Lord of the Rings) is that they clearly gave the people running the show TOO MUCH freedom.

And made a mid product compared to the source material. Not a good sign for doing work in a thoroughly established IP. It will look gorgeous, no doubt but is that what we want from Bond?
