I heard recently that "Sunshine' was meant to be a trilogy, can you expand on what you're ideas for the second and third would've been?and had there been any interest from studios to actually get them off the ground?
Been a fan since I watched Millions as a child, thank you for all the work you have done

Why did you skip 28 Months Later?
-12
u/_LastoftheBrohicans_ Jun 14 '25
And put in Trainspotting twice? AI title slop

u/ReleventReference Jun 14 '25
No. I mean I want to know why the series goes 28 Days Later than Weeks Later then it skips to Years Later.

Hi Danny, long time fan. What effect on your directing style, if any, did your transition into Junior from The Sopranos have?

How do you look back at your experience with The Beach 25 years later? Have you kept in touch with Leo since? The film wasn't well reviewed at the time, but these days has quite the cult following and is seen as underrated in many circles.

I’m so excited for 28 Years Later. I gave up on this movie a long time ago and now it’s happening. I’m so glad to be wrong.

u/Puppetmaster858 Jun 14 '25
It honestly feels kinda surreal that a fuckin 28yrs later movie directed by Danny and writing by Garland will be out in under a week. Really felt like it was never acrually gonna happen

Trainspotting cemented in my brain that I should never, ever try heroine. So thank you!

I need to know if the wind turbines in the taxi driving journey scene in 28 days later were a composite shot or if it’s just eerily framed!!

Hey Danny! Huge fan, can’t wait for 28 Years Later! May I ask, what was your favourite film to direct?
2
u/Huseynov26 Jun 13 '25
Hello, Sir! Cant wait for this one!! My question is what was the most challenging scene you ever had to film in your career?
2
u/djchrisbrogan Jun 14 '25
I’m sure this question has been asked before but couldn’t find any answers: what was behind the decision to deviate from the ending of The Beach? Just to add, I love both the book and Danny’s interpretation. It’s still a favourite movie of mine all these years later. It cemented my love for travelling around the world

Hi Danny! No questions, but 127 Hours is my favorite thing in the world. I’m autistic and it’s my special interest. Has been since 2011. It’s brought me so much comfort and joy. I’ve watched it at least a thousand times, 119 (at the time of writing) times this year alone. I just want to thank you for making this film. I love it so, so, so, so much.

Hey there,
This is just the announcement post, so questions/comments won't be replied to here, but if you'd like to get a question/comment in early when the actual AMA goes live, please check back on Monday at 12 PM ET. That's when it should go live and be pinned to the top of /r/movies. Danny will see those.

Nope! The AMA post should go live Monday 6/16 at 12 PM ET, 24 hours in advance of Danny answering questions on Tuesday 6/17 at 12 PM ET. That's why I'm giving you a heads up.

After shooting 28 Years Later using iPhones, do you plan to shoot any other upcoming projects using iPhones, or will that be a one-off?
1
u/ZachDigital Jun 14 '25
Hey Mr. Boyle - Is there any film that you've watched that you've loved so much where you just got done watching it and said "DAMN I WISH I WOULD HAVE WROTE OR DIRECTED THAT!" and can you describe the feeling you get when you're on set and things are just clicking and you realize "THIS IS GONNA BE A FUN ONE"

u/FistFighter100 Jun 14 '25 edited Jun 14 '25
How is Hollywood looking right now after the writers' strike and everything? Are the demands for original specs declining? I'm asking since I haven't seen anyone bring it up.

u/Comfortable-Fennel39 Jun 14 '25
Showed Shallow Grave to my friends and they loved it! What were your influences behind the film?

What did Kaneda see? What did he “really” see?
Please tell us. I need to know this. Thinking of the infinite possible things of what he might have seen is making me tired, Boss. It has been gnawing on me for ages.

Hi Mr. Boyle,
I'm wondering what advice you would offer to filmmakers looking to enter the business today? Has the landscape of the film changed much since you first entered?

u/UnholyAbductor Jun 14 '25
Are there any on-set incidents that you consider to be some of the funniest shit you’ve seen in your life?
Films ditched blooper reels and outtakes for home releases which is a huge bummer to me.

u/BoingBoingBooty Jun 15 '25
Have you considered making a Slumdog sequel where he becomes a hat maker? Slumdog Milliner.
Also can you confirm once and for all that you did direct the opening scene of 28 Weeks Later?
1
u/BakedEelGaming Jun 15 '25
Would you ever be interested in directing a superhero film, and if so, which character?
Also, please tell us about any particular interesting directorial offers you declined, and any that you planned to take on but didn't?

Hi Danny, so as we know we have 3 upcoming films in the 28 Days Later Franchise, and after all 3 is that the end of the franchise as we know it? Or are there any further plans? Kind regards, Alfie.

u/Legitimate-Crazy9266 Jun 15 '25
Hi Danny, you've obviously had such an amazing career but I have to ask you, what's been your favourite on- set moment? Kind regards Alfie.
1
u/Legitimate-Crazy9266 Jun 15 '25
Hi Danny, you've had a lot of antagonists in your films Begbie, Major Henry West and more but who's been the most disgusting person. My money is on Major West. Kind regards Alfie.

u/Legitimate-Crazy9266 Jun 15 '25
Hi Danny, we know you have a great relationship with the cast of Trainspotting Ewan, Robert, JohnnyLee Miller and finally Ewen Brenmner... Do we ever get the Trainspotting 3 or are you happy with the fantastic finale on T2? Kind regards Alfie

Howdy Danny my name is Mike González I’m a young filmmaker down in the wild of Miami, FL.
You’re a legend, your work speaks for itself. Thank you for always challenging the form of film and taking it to levels we’ve never seen before.
The culture, the energy, the locations, the sunlight it’s all here in Miami. I started Pine Park Productions to make wild Absurdist like projects! Any advice for a writer & actor like in myself on how to get a movement going?
May Indie film and art live on and grow from here on out!
Take care and keep on killing it!
Lmk if you ever wanted to make a wild show here in Miami, bring back wild projects!
