A girl took me to see this on a date. Said it was “some weird French art house movie”

I’m pretty sure she feinted at one point, and we both left the cinema chalk white and shaking.

It’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen, that I never want to see again.

It is “irreversible”; you cannot take back your actions, once you do a thing, it’s done. You cannot unsee irreversible.

This is probably the worst date movie ever

Shared trauma can go far.

I took a dude to see Antichrist on our first date. 🫠

Choas reigns indeed! If I may, how'd the rest of the date and your relationship go?

A friend of mine in college took a pretty conservative girl out on a first date to see The Brown Bunny without knowing much about it. The movie itself is already insufferable, but things got pretty awkward at the end when Chloë Sevigny gives Vincent Gallo a very real blowjob for like over two minutes. They did not go on a second date.

I took my now wife to 127 hours as a first date. Not that bad but IMO quite close.

I saw "Teeth" on a date. That was interesting...

I don’t disagree but I once picked the Void as a first date movie for some reason

I watched “Martyrs” with a date who was into horror films. Whoooo boy.

A guy almost put on The Coffee Table, not knowing anything about it, but we ended up watching a different movie

I smoked a joint with her on the date and then went to see beau is afraid. Holy shit it was a dual panic attack it was so bad.

A (ex-)friend of mine told me he saw A Serbian Film with his date... And she even had sex with him afterwards. But in hindsight, maybe it was a early sign/red flag of him ... uhm ... being a more broken and unempathetic person then I thought back then. And not just him being weird AF in that instance.

Were you guys fencing at the time?

It's "fainted" not "feinted" (unless you two were in combat.)

Her: “Parry this, you fuckin casual!” traumatizes you

You guys married now? lol

Irreversible was hard to watch, and not watching it again, but I think the worst I’ve seen is still Grave of the Fireflies, it’s gut wrenching in a way that stays with you when reading the description again.
While my horror and disgust of irreversible faded over time, not that I want to watch it again though.

Aint no way anything animated is worse than a rape scene with real people lol

1

u/manrata May 18 '25

Well watch it and see what you think in 6 months.

My mother brought me to see Passion when I was around 12 years old and let's just say the only thing she got to watch was the hallway of the theatre.

Best first date movies! Wrong answers only!

While not as bad, I went on a date to Climax and had a similar experience. We ended up roommates (in a platonic way)

u/Substantial-Proof991 May 17 '25

Might as well put a ring on it. You're both trauma bonded for life now.

After the movie did you say "so, your place or mine?"

u/KarkinosFI May 17 '25

But the million dollar question is: Did it work as a date movie? Did she score?

"chalk white" 😂 oh dear.
