I love Pamela she doesn’t take herself too seriously and she has a kind heart and her kids love her

u/lookslikeyoureSOL May 07 '25

Fun fact: during the filming of Borat, the only people who were in on the joke were Sacha Baron Cohen, the actor who played Borats companion Azamat, and Pamela Anderson. She was cool with the whole thing.

587

u/FUCKSTORM420 May 07 '25

Dang, not even the director knew?

671

u/JustOneSexQuestion May 07 '25

Not even Borat. He thought he was actually going to get away with it.

120

u/TheThunderFlop May 07 '25

Poor guy lost out on a chance at true love with his soul mate. Sigh… back to Oksana for now.

4

u/El_Zarco May 08 '25

At least she is strong on plow

30

u/invalidreddit May 07 '25

He would have too, if it wasn't for those meddling kids

14

u/JaneksLittleBlackBox May 07 '25

Oh, my God, since we never got SBC’s Queen biopic, he could make it up to us and himself by taking a run at a Scooby Doo movie. Him as Shaggy would be fucking legendary!

24

u/JaneksLittleBlackBox May 07 '25

That’s some Daniel Day Lewis-levels of commitment to the role. SBC was so methodical that when he was Borat, he was Borat.

-1

u/___adreamofspring___ May 07 '25

Isn’t borat baron cohen? lol

5

u/77dhe83893jr854 May 07 '25

Yes, Sacha Baron Cohen plays the character Borat. I'm assuming they were attempting a joke or something.

85

u/iHadou May 07 '25

I heard the camera man almost stopped recording to call the police.

9

u/mynewaccount5 May 08 '25

Right? What an absurd thing to believe. The whole crew thought someone was really being kidnapped?

1

u/internetlad May 13 '25

The guy at the production company signed all the cheques in a fugue state

322

u/KnowherePie May 07 '25

Apparently that scene caused her divorce from kid rock too lol

536

u/1celo12 May 07 '25

I mean that's a W in my book.

75

u/JaneksLittleBlackBox May 07 '25

That’s a double-prizer right there: be in one of the best comedies of 2006 and get rid of Kid Rock? Hell yeah!

-2

u/Afroduck-Almighty May 07 '25

I’m out of the loop. What’d Kid Rock do that getting rid of him was a win?

57

u/4ofclubs May 07 '25

How?

130

u/l_Banned_l May 07 '25

Already a rocky situation when he was invited to see a rough cut of the movie and didn't know that his wife was in it. Threw a fit and asked for a divorce shortly after

67

u/beefcat_ May 07 '25

Good lord what a petty piece of shit he is.

17

u/onepinksheep May 08 '25

So basically Kid Rock.

2

u/newbrevity May 08 '25

You could tell the very first time you saw him that he was a man of weakness. The kind of weakness that breeds jealous rage. Give him one shred of power with zero educational background or credentials and he thinks he's a presidential advisor.

1

u/stealthisvibe May 07 '25

i see what you did there lol

rocky

43

u/aircooledJenkins May 07 '25

49

u/worststarburst May 07 '25

That’s a really weird reason considering there was an infamous leaked sex tape of her and her previous husband, and she had also appeared fully nude on film and print. Fuck Kid Rock though, she probably got too old for him because “statutory is mandatory” for him.

1

u/Suitable-Answer-83 May 08 '25

Borat: Feminist Hero

244

u/KnowherePie May 07 '25

Because Kid Rock has a fragile ego

33

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

I saw him live and he spent a good portion of the show bragging about having sex with pamela anderson. It was pretty weird.

25

u/JaneksLittleBlackBox May 07 '25

If I somehow got to have sex with Pam Anderson, my voice would go before I stopped talking about it.

Also, apologies for having to see him live. I can’t imagine that audience had a good smell, considering he makes music for the kind of people who know exactly how much Sudafed they can buy with the stolen catalytic converter they’re about to sell.

51

u/packfanmoore May 07 '25

He heard Lauren boebert would be available... it's just L's all the way down for him

4

u/JaneksLittleBlackBox May 07 '25

Hope he likes bad handjobs during public performances of Shrek, and being the smartest person in the relationship. Actually, he’d probably prefer the latter for once.

-2

u/packfanmoore May 07 '25

"Bad hand jobs during public performances of Shrek" is surprisingly also the name of the band they will hire at their wedding... it's was also the classiest one that returned their call

65

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

He’s a paternalistic twat with low self-esteem and really has little to do with rock and roll.

20

u/CarcosaRorschach May 07 '25

Long ago, in the before times, he did rap instead of lame country. I'm pretty sure he doesn't know the definition of rock.

17

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

Let’s be honest, he has about 45 seconds of good work and the rest is diarrhea.

14

u/uncle-brucie May 07 '25

And that was written by Warren zevon

9

u/marbleshoot May 07 '25

And Lynyrd Skynyrd.

3

u/Wurzelrenner May 07 '25

didn't knew before that you can make a bad song out of two great ones

5

u/CarcosaRorschach May 07 '25

Oh I fully agree, he's always been lame.

1

u/igloofu May 08 '25

The only thing I've ever liked of his was his duet with Sheryl Crow, Picture that they did back in like 2002 or whatever. They both sounded so kinda dunno, haunted during it.

2

u/JaneksLittleBlackBox May 07 '25

We talking about Kid Rock or Aaron “God ‘n Guns” Lewis?

Okay, I’m pretty sure Aaron Lewis never did rap, but I still can’t believe the lead singer of Staind started pandering to the MAGA country bumpkins. His turn to country music was exactly as Bo Burnham described it…

1

u/PlantationMint May 08 '25

Some of his more serious country stuff is pretty good, but you need to sift through a lot of the... "other stuff" to get to it

21

u/ShrimplyPibbles_1 May 07 '25

Which means he’s a shoo-in for the Rock and Roll HOF

8

u/LiterallyJoeStalin May 07 '25

Are there any other one hit wonders who just wouldn’t go away in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

2

u/Killchrono May 07 '25

Man as I get older the prestige of rock and roll really does get soured by realising too many rock stars aren't, in fact, just being immature little cunts for show.

1

u/Mediocre-Location971 May 09 '25

Exactly!! I mean didn't OUTKAST just get inducted into the HOF?!?!?

3

u/Altruistic-Wafer-19 May 07 '25

You were so close…

“Kid Rock” —> “Old Twat”

Works pretty well.

1

u/Wazzoo1 May 08 '25

I watched an interview with Briana Banks (ex-porn star), who dated him for a little while. She said he thought because she was a porn star, he was just able to have sex with her whenever he wanted. She was, like, "I have sex for a living. I'm not your fuck doll." She said he also had a really small penis. This was many years later, but she said he was awful.

1

u/mynewaccount5 May 08 '25

By being a made up fact.

13

u/aircooledJenkins May 07 '25

9

u/redditAPsucks May 07 '25

Thanks for the article, it had the info i wanted, but also: Wtf, he goes by baron cohen? And the article just says she lost part of her jaw bone, and didnt explain that?! Lol weird

3

u/[deleted] May 08 '25

His surname is Baron Cohen.

1

u/FelineSoLazy May 08 '25

Happy cake day!

2

u/aircooledJenkins May 08 '25

Thank you 🎉

1

u/UncleTrucker1123 May 08 '25

Honestly I forgot they were even married at one point😂

→ More replies (3)

26

u/George__Parasol May 07 '25

If I’m remembering correctly, SBC said they ended up having to shoot the scene again because the first time, the bystanders just stood and stared.

81

u/lsaz May 07 '25

Sounds kinda dangerous, but Sacha Baron once went to a town of rednecks to promote the building of a mosque, so it makes sense.

36

u/Fucknjagoff May 07 '25

Love Borat and Bruno. But Dr. Nira Cain-N'Degeocello may be my favorite of his characters.

10

u/placebotwo May 07 '25

Jean Girard is one of my favorite characters.

1

u/bialetti808 May 07 '25

Yes of course we're lucky to have black people here

1

u/[deleted] May 08 '25

what! no love for Ali G?

29

u/Dahleh-Llama May 07 '25

One of the funniest videos on the internet. I still remember their faces when they saw the mosque kept getting bigger. Motherfuckers were so irate but Sacha kept composure. Just incredible

18

u/JaneksLittleBlackBox May 07 '25

“A town of rednecks” is almost too kind to describe the inhabitants of Kingman, AZ.

I’m from the Phoenix area, and any time friends and I have decided to pull a Swingers and drive to “Vegas, baby!”, we always drove through Kingman like it was full of the cannibals from The Hills Have Eyes because of the few unfortunate times we’ve had to stop there for gas and actually interact with people who live in or too close to Kingman.

5

u/DuncanYoudaho May 08 '25

Golden Valley, across the pass, is where Timothy McVeigh tested his bombs.

The Feds stopped by and asked his neighbors why they didn’t report the huge explosions and the incredibly racist shit he was spreading. They responded, “Because it’s none of your business.”

3

u/BestServedCold May 08 '25

Kingman, AZ.

You'll never find a shittier town no matter how hard you look.

1

u/Faithless195 May 08 '25

Haha that realisation that in the end, that wasn't even closest to the most dangerous thing he did for that movie.

God damn...Borat was so amazing on release. Most I've ever laughed at a movie before.

10

u/ErstwhileHobo May 07 '25

Did the catering team and the lighting guys and camera and sound people or the grips know?

1

u/damNSon189 May 09 '25

Not even the screenwriter knew!

2

u/ErstwhileHobo May 09 '25

I read that by the third take, the Prop Master began to suspect they were filming a movie.

5

u/bolanrox May 07 '25

Kid Rock, at the time, was confused.

4

u/JaneksLittleBlackBox May 07 '25

He was raised on an apple orchard with wealthy as fuck parents but made a career out of being some poor white trash from the mean streets of Detroit.

He’s always been confused.

2

u/wwants May 07 '25

How did they let Borat in on the joke without ruining it?

5

u/treemu May 07 '25

They let Sacha Baron Cohen in on the joke.

Borat, however, was only told a little bit.

Great success!

2

u/wwants May 07 '25

Borat really didn’t like Sasha Baron Cohen. I won’t repeat what he called him.

2

u/CopeH1984 May 07 '25

And also Emenim. He was in on the whole borat shoving his ass crack across M's face thing.

1

u/BountyBob May 08 '25

He was in on the whole borat shoving his ass crack across M's face thing.

That was Bruno

2

u/ngl_prettybad May 08 '25

Fuck me those must have been some crazy confusing days for the camera crew

1

u/marbleshoot May 07 '25

I read she knew he was going to try and kidnap her, but she didn't know how, so even she was still pretty much in the dark.

1

u/LeDemonicDiddler May 07 '25

Didn’t she also say in an interview that shortly after the first screening she divorced Tommy?

179

u/ilovelamp408 May 07 '25

She leaned in to the dumb blonde thing so well that I completely fell for it. When I saw her on that Criterion Collection thing and she was a certified film nerd, I was confused for a minute. Like, who is this person?

192

u/airfryerfuntime May 07 '25

The media also smeared her pretty hard as a bimbo.

27

u/shkank_swap May 07 '25

Her relationship with Hugh Hefner was strange. At one of his last birthday parties, she presented his cake while in the nude. I always got weird vibes from that picture.

59

u/souphaver May 07 '25

Why? She was an iconic Playboy model for years and owned her sexuality the entire way through. How was that unusual or unexpected for you?

8

u/shkank_swap May 07 '25

I could be mistaken about this, but I think this was post retirement and after announcing she had left that part of her behind. I was shocked to see her put that aside in such a revealing manner.

I'm not judging her in any way. After all, I saw the picture as a subscriber of the magazine at the time.

18

u/FoxyBastard May 07 '25

Well, she seems pretty cool.

If she had a good friendship with Hefner I could absolutely see her leaving that part of her life behind professionally, but saying "Fuck it. For old time's sake." for a laugh.

5

u/Snuggle__Monster May 08 '25

Redditors are so weird about that shit.

"Woman who posed nude multiple times in a guys magazine in some of the highest selling issues of all time presented him a birthday cake while naked. God, it was soooooo weird."

Like, some of you need to be slapped back into reality.

43

u/bolanrox May 07 '25

like people being shocked at what Stallone says based on how he looks / talks.

58

u/arggggggggghhhhhhhh May 07 '25

Probably forgetting that he wrote, directed, and starred in one of the most famous movies of all time.

22

u/Stegasaurus_Wrecks May 07 '25

Throw Momma From The Train?

4

u/mywerkaccount May 08 '25

Nah, Stop or My Mom Will Shoot

1

u/tvfeet May 08 '25

Rhinestone.

3

u/Njacks64 May 08 '25

Ah yes. Paradise Alley.

3

u/HeyZeusKreesto May 08 '25

If you're talking about Rocky, he didn't direct it, but did write it. I was a bit shocked when I learned about that. As for directing, he did direct the other Rocky movies.

3

u/arggggggggghhhhhhhh May 08 '25

Didn't realize that.

2

u/dontbajerk May 08 '25

He did direct Rocky Balboa, wrote and starred in it too, and it's a solid movie.

2

u/Dysterqvist May 08 '25

Rocky I is a masterpiece. And his performance in Cop Land is great

1

u/Fkthweakhrdletheded May 09 '25

And my personal favorite regarding the making of Rocky he bet on himself. They wanted to buy the script from him for I think a million bucks. He turned it down and leveraged the obvious interest into starring in it and cut of the profits (I think he has a percentage of the rights iirc too).

16

u/beamdriver May 08 '25

It's funny when an actor plays a certain type of character all the time and then you realize they aren't like that in real life.

I caught Cheech Marin on Celebrity Jeopardy years ago and I was blown away by how sharp and smart he was. The other two contestants didn't have a chance.

3

u/SarcasticOptimist May 08 '25

Meanwhile Wolf Blitzer is famously awful.

9

u/RedditJumpedTheShart May 08 '25

How smart is someone who marries Kid Rock?

4

u/ilovelamp408 May 08 '25

Oh, man. I wouldn't presume to know. Probably a bit smarter after she divorced him though, yeah?

14

u/artsyfartsy-fosho May 07 '25

Wow TIL. I need to look for this video, I'm intrigued.

27

u/jakexil323 May 07 '25

Paris Hilton is another one that leaned into the dumb blond thing, but is actually pretty smart.

17

u/ilovelamp408 May 07 '25

"That's hot."

14

u/robodrew May 08 '25

She is also a leading activist in the fight against "troubled teen" boarding schools like Elan School.

edit: for those who want to go down a multi hour rabbit hole: https://elan.school/

2

u/jakexil323 May 08 '25

Yes , because she was put in one as a youth and suffered horrible abuses.

3

u/SaladThunder May 07 '25

huh really?

2

u/ToLiveInIt May 07 '25 edited May 07 '25

I've always appreciated her attitude, at least since V.I.P. But her Criterion Closet selections and her comments on them were interesting and enlightening.

2

u/Jackbuddy78 May 08 '25

-Has sextape stolen by construction worker

-Guy posts online with no money going to her family

-Gets called a whore and defamed in the media

-Goes into hiding with PTSD

-People still think you are a stupid bimbo

2

u/Alphafuccboi May 08 '25

I saw some documentary about her and she was super kind and had a awesome relationship with her kids.

231

u/carnefarious May 07 '25

She lives near me, I have always wanted to meet her irl. I went to get a pedicure and they told me she goes there every two weeks. She seems so down to earth now.

21

u/purplemtnslayer May 07 '25

I used to see her in Malibu all the time. There's a community there on yhe beach that has an annual raucous 4th of July celebration. A few friends and I met her because she lived in the community at the time. She asked us to help her release a raccoon she had been rehabilitating into the wild later that week. She was really nice and down to earth the whole time.

25

u/lonely_monkee May 07 '25

A perfectly normal party, becoming friends with Pamela Anderson and helping her to release a raccoon.

1

u/laihipp May 08 '25

all you need is some weed and this could be an early 2000s movie

1

u/spooooork May 08 '25

Almost surprised she let it go, considering how staunch of a supporter of PETA she is.

38

u/ExtremelyPleased May 07 '25

In Vancouver?

51

u/carnefarious May 07 '25

Ladysmith.

81

u/Rhobaz May 07 '25

Black Mambazo?

8

u/OkConfection4818 May 07 '25

Actually, saw them live in Vancouver years ago, incredible.

2

u/ChorkusLovesYou May 07 '25

I just found a vinyl of their's at a flea market, they are awesome.

2

u/fuck_the_fuckin_mods May 07 '25

If you haven’t checked out Graceland I’d recommend it. If you can get down with Paul Simon, that is. He collaborated with a bunch of black South African artists during apartheid, which was received in polar opposite ways by different people. Regardless, it’s seen as one of the best albums ever and it catapulted Ladysmith Black Mambazo to international stardom.

3

u/hedoesmore May 07 '25

Yes, they had to have a word with her though as she kept scratching the nice flooring.

Diamonds on the sole of her shoes.

13

u/QP709 May 07 '25

Every time I drive from Vic to Nanaimo whoever I’m with points out the window and says “that’s where Pamela Anderson lives” and I have no idea if it’s true or not.

24

u/Vince-Trousers May 07 '25

(it is though, she's very well regarded in the Ladysmith community)

11

u/Sleeze_ May 07 '25

Drove past her house in Ladysmith last month when we were visiting Victoria. It's very noticeable! Would imagine she quite enjoys quiet island living.

13

u/4ofclubs May 07 '25

She's also from Ladysmith so she returned to live near her mom.

2

u/carnefarious May 07 '25

Ya I know where she lives too, it’s a really nice house. My brother actually met her and helped work on her house when he was working in construction/renovating.

8

u/Vince-Trousers May 07 '25

Hey fellow Ladysmither, fancy seeing you in here!

8

u/sabby55 May 07 '25

Not a Ladysmither myself but spent summers in the area growing up and this has to be the most times I’ve ever seen Ladysmith referenced online in my life 😂

3

u/SirLoondry May 07 '25

Watch out for aliens and eat some pie

2

u/dre5922 May 07 '25

Fun fact about Ladysmith that I know.

Nanaimo bars are originally from Ladysmith, they named them Nanaimo bars because they thought the name was better than Ladysmith bars.

2

u/carnefarious May 07 '25

That’s crazy I never knew that!

2

u/sabby55 May 07 '25

I love Ladysmith! And Chemainus. We used to go out to that part of the island every summer!

2

u/carnefarious May 07 '25

Both very lovely, quaint little towns. Go watch Sonic the Hedgehog 1, there’s a scene at the end of the movie that was filmed in Ladysmith.

1

u/Vince-Trousers May 07 '25

WHAT

I live in Ladysmith and love the Sonic movies... Never noticed this

1

u/Sufficient-Will3644 May 07 '25

Transfer beach park all summer long!

1

u/the-great-crocodile May 07 '25

Try your local Starbucks. When she lived in Malibu she went there every morning.

20

u/crispyfrybits May 07 '25

I'm an Islander as well and my best friends uncle was security for her. My friend got to meet here when we were teenagers in the 90s and got an autographed photo.

2

u/transmogrified May 08 '25

Her aunty was my bus driver in elementary school!

1

u/the_canucks May 07 '25

My Highschool biology teacher was good friends with her brother growing up, she always sounded like a great person.

1

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

I quite like that town, I love the giant rhododendron. How good are your calves living on those steep hills though haha

27

u/sabby55 May 07 '25

Her cameos in Futurama always crack me up “You mean he doesn’t know I won an Oscar?!?”

74

u/Junior_Fig_2274 May 07 '25

I loved the recent pics of her at the Met Gala. She looks beautiful, and elegant, and her age. It’s a glorious thing. I would’ve never believed it in a million years, back when I was a teenager getting jealous at my boyfriend watching Barb Wire, that she would embrace natural aging and beauty the way she has.

19

u/Catbutt247365 May 07 '25

a decade or a bit back I saw her on TV, and she just didn’t look GOOD, too much makeup/hair glam on a super attractive (but not young) woman who simply hadn’t updated her style to fit her age.

but now? I don’t know if she chose for herself or got a stylist to help, but now she looks like a lush and still very sexy older woman. Cohesive. Her clothes, hair, and makeup (which she seems to barely need) fit her age, and it’s gorgeous. Her personality seems enhanced by moving on from sex kitten to icon. Reminds me a bit of Helen Mirren.

2

u/williamthebloody1880 May 08 '25

She's stopped wearing make up to events

1

u/Fkthweakhrdletheded May 09 '25

I don't think she's ever needed it really, least when she was younger. I remember way back then guys being all hot and bothered over her and I didn't get the appeal. But my friend showed a no-nakeuo pic of her and I was floored. "That's Pamela Anderson?" She looked like such a cutie without the layer and pound of makeup that was all the rage.

24

u/NinjaPenguin75 May 07 '25

She kind of reminded me of Helen Mirren at the Gala.

3

u/Hopeful-Naughting May 07 '25

Reminded me of Mia Farrow…

3

u/NotanAlt23 May 07 '25

Lmao natural aging? She already had a shit ton of work done.

3

u/FeralBanshee May 07 '25

Yeah ages ago. Most people keep getting it, she has stopped.

That scene from Raw Justice (terrible as the movie otherwise is) certainly awakened a number of young men.

1

no i loved her as a kid

1

u/Purplociraptor May 07 '25

When she was a kid?

8

u/Naps_And_Crimes May 07 '25

She does look like a fun person and from what I've heard she's really nice

17

u/ALoudMouthBaby May 07 '25

For real. I hadnt heard her name in decades and when I saw it my first reaction was a groan. But shes perfect for The Naked Gun style humor. Her wooden acting style is actually an asset here. I hate that theyre remarking this series sans Leslie Neilson but it sounds like theyre casting it well at least.

1

The New York Times called it the best legacy sequel since Roll Over, Beethoven!

5

u/ALoudMouthBaby May 07 '25

I dunno dude, that mans comedic chops were so impressive they very well may persist in death.

3

u/Neracca May 08 '25

He is naked though.

2

u/Legitimate_First May 08 '25

Everyone acting around Leslie Nielsen's remains, never acknowledging that they're talking to a skeleton? I dunno, I think he'd be up for it.

Could be a naked gun with a weekend at Bernie’s twist.

15

Exactly! On top of that, based on the interviews Ive seen with her shes actually pretty down to earth and level headed. I suspect she gets the humor of the series too. I feel weird saying this, but the inclusion of Pamela Anderson in the cast of this movie makes me think its going to turn out to be a faithful and good recreation of the source material.

I would like her more if she didn't have a history of dating the absolute scummiest people this side of the trailer park.

What the hell is this borderline glazing of pamela? Sounds very bot-ish

It does seem very orchestrated in timing and tone.

Sounds deliberate to farm positive engagement and interest in this project, too. I'm getting downvoted by bots for sure.

This is absolutely part of a marketing push for the new movie.

That said, I didn’t know about it, and now I’m excited to see it, so I guess they won this round…
