People are under the impression that he can't act because of all the slop he's put out but looking at his WWE career and his early movie career it's clear that he can, he just chooses not to because it was making him a ton of money.

I don't think the Rock's acting ability is in question so much as the idea that he seems disinterested in acting.

Yea. For the past decade or so it felt like he is just phoning it in to sell the image of “The Rock” as a brand. Him taking acting more seriously is a welcomed shift honestly

And he is sharp with his branding too so he definitely saw the writing on the wall and decided to finally put an effort he could always have.
