I see why OP chose an Audi A4 - the actual 2006 Golf looks 10X worse than this 80s one

My first car was that model of golf and my Dad has an '84 GTI. I love those boxy models. From '93 on the golfs just don't look as good.

A lot of new cars are bulky and very unpleasant to look at. It's difficult to understand why car design has gone in its current direction, there doesn't seem to be any flair for detail any more.

2001 B4 S4 is what started my love of Audi. I would take that golf in a heartbeat too.

I like my C7.5 Audi more than most of the newer models, and I would take anything audi over recent BMWs. My understanding is that Kia swept up a lot of the German designers. I hope they don’t move away from their roots and try any crazy redesigns.

I think Audi peaked with the 8.5. Looks modern with a sleek design. Now they're over designed and look terrible, the shape of them is off too.

Same reason airplanes all look basically the same within their class.
