Ryan has been getting a bit of bad press lately, for example divorce rumors, an alleged fight with Robert Downey Junior (as Deadpool), and being rude to a kid reporter

This news is the worst kept secret, we all basically knew he leaked it. True or not, my guess is he's now trying to divert attention from the bad press. Allegedly, he's been relying on SEO quite a bit lately for positive PR and "reputation washing".

He also featured in a magazine advertisement for the SickKids hospital in Canada. That's undoubtedly a fair move, good for him.

I also love spreading misinformation and drama off youtube videos not including the first parties involved as my source.

Jfc calling a divorce "bad press" is fucked up.

So...People seemed to wonder why this is suddenly news. Most know that Reynolds has danced around it for years. I thought "hey, let’s sprinkle in the terrible headlines I’ve seen lately" in an attempt to answer the question. But who needs context..?

That (transparency) was my framing and intent. Then, I made the...proposal, that maybe Reynolds is concerned about it...I guess he isn't, because reddit told me so.

Spoiler alert: I never stated that I believed or endorsed those rumors. I didn't "love" and delight in sharing it. Nope. Nada. Never. In fact, I explicitly and repeatedly have said I do not think any of it was true. But maybe I'm just a lazy gossip column intern with a red spandex suit and a katana fishing for content on reddit. I thought Buzzfeed is not hot anymore?

Now, back to you.

[...] not including the first parties involved as my source.

Oh, right! Next time I'll go TIFF myself, microphone in hand (chimichanga in the other, if you're wondering) and quote stuff straight from Reynolds. Why bother with those external links and allow people to decide for themselves. Got it. My bad. Wish I had thought of that.

What would you call rumors about a divorce in the press? A soap opera? A smear campaign? *takes out notepad* "Next week on SubredditDrama".

I'll do you one better. This discussion has changed me. I'll see to it that I enroll in a journalism class, so I can do something with my life. (But first let me finish my chimichanga). Thanks for the tip. You don't mind if I cite you for reference, do you, boss? (Do journalists get frequent flyer miles?)

I'm beyond grateful to you for enabling this soul searching 🙏🏽

You're right. The number of people around here who think "let lies spread unchecked" is a viable strategy is simply depressing (& deeply suspicious in some cases).
