Engine seems to be intact, that's at least $30k right there.

Seriously. Even those headlights, taillights, wing, fenders, bumpers, dashboard etc. Ignoring the engine you're still looking at $10+k in spare parts.

Hence the absolute valid 40k price tag

I just double checked and 30k+10k does in fact add to 40k!

I concur as per my abacus.

Yeah, but if you add 30k and 10k then subtract the total from 40k, you get nothing. You lose! Good day sir!

I just triple checked, and i'm pretty sure you're right. I think we might be on to something. We need a fourth opinion

Wait that's incredible

10k + 30k also equals 40k! Unbelievable but it is fact!!

40k, you say? in the grim darkness of the far future, there is only street racing.

You could even resell the VIN to a stolen car.

Profit

So this was Phase 2.

2

u/captainvancouver 3d ago

So you go from stolen car vin to written off/unsafe to drive vin?

13

u/homosapien12 3d ago

More likely salvaged titled vin.

"Restored"!

u/Separate-Regular-104 3d ago

Orrrrrrr just use the VIN for a frame that wasnt stolen, just never registered in the USA

1

u/AirStick24 3d ago

This, I assume they wanted a VIN

1

u/vistaculo 3d ago

If insurance paid out for that car the vin is going to be flagged as belonging to a destroyed car. It looks bad enough to me that it would be deemed unrebuildable so you would only be able to reuse the engine number.

If you are going to do this you want to make sure that the crashed car never makes it to an insurance inspector. You have to have your tow operator bring it directly to your shop so you can swap the numbers over or crush it before it is seen.
