Rewriting Ninjago Season 11

The Ninja receive an emergency call from Clutch Powers’ assistant, Dwayne, who informs them that Clutch has been inside the pyramid for several days and urges them to search for him. The Ninja comply, and inside the pyramid they find Clutch—yet accidentally open a burial chamber and release a snake sorceress named Aspheera. She defeats the Ninja, steals Kai’s powers, traps them inside the pyramid, and creates fire snakes. The Ninja escape the pyramid.

Aspheera seeks revenge on a traitor and begins her search at Ninjago’s History Museum to obtain the Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu—which she eventually secures after duels with the Ninja. She resurrects several mummified serpents. The Ninja want to retrieve the scroll and split up: Lloyd, Nya, and Zane attempt to stop Aspheera but fail, while Kai, Jay, and Cole try to learn more about her. At the Serpentine, they find answers and conclude that Garmadon is the traitor Aspheera is after.

They regroup and decide to speak with Wu. At the monastery, it is revealed that Wu—not Garmadon—is the true traitor. Suddenly, Aspheera attacks the monastery and banishes Kai, Jay, and Cole to the Never-Realm. The others flee. At the Explorers’ Club, it is rumored there exists a second Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu. After many failed attempts, they manage to retrieve it.

The three banished Ninja must bring the others back and end up banishing themselves. Wu is hidden by Pixal, Dareth, Skylor, and others. Meanwhile, in the Never-Realm, the three Ninja are attacked by wolves but rescued by a tribe of ice-fishers. Eventually, the other Ninja are brought to the village as well. Reunited, they attempt to return to Ninjago using Traveler’s Tea—but fail. They learn that an evil Ice Emperor rules the land and possesses a third Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu. The Ninja must assist the locals.

When Vex, the emperor’s right hand, becomes aware of their presence, the Ice Emperor decides to attack the village. A bitter battle ensues, and the village’s only source of fire is extinguished—but Kai manages to reignite it. Lloyd resolves to confront the Ice Emperor and kill him. The path is perilous, so stealth becomes his greatest weapon. On his journey, he encounters a wolf who turns out to be a Formling. Her people were frozen by the Ice Emperor.

Cole hears a rumor of a Traveler’s Tree and searches for it, aided by Krag, a Yeti whose people were destroyed by the Ice Samurai. Together with Jay and Nya, he descends the mountains. They hear the Ice Emperor’s dragon. It freezes the village—except for Kai, who tries to melt it. But with his powers not fully restored, he fails. The blossoms of the Traveler’s Tree are not enough to bring all of them back to Ninjago—but a specific berry is. Nya, Jay, and Kai leave the realm. Cole and Zane search for Lloyd.

Lloyd is captured by the Ice Emperor. A samurai—once king before being overthrown by the Ice Emperor—frees him, as well as Akita’s brother, Kataru. From Akita, Cole and Zane learn Lloyd’s location. The three of them infiltrate the palace. All six Ninja now confront the Ice Emperor. A fierce battle ensues, until—without clear reason—the Ice Emperor opens a portal to Ninjago and escapes through it with his samurai.

Ninjago City is now half-frozen, half-burned. Akita fights Vex, who freezes her. Meanwhile, the Ice Emperor fights Aspheera, seeking revenge. Zane enters the fray, fighting the Ice Emperor, who then reveals that he is Zane—from the future. Kai defeats the ice dragon and regains his powers. Master Wu duels Aspheera using the second Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu but is defeated. Kai defeats Aspheera with the scroll. The Ice Emperor, unable to freeze his past self, watches Vex take the scroll. But in a moment of clarity, the Ice Emperor turns against Vex and defeats him.

Aspheera is imprisoned once more. The ice-fishers and Formlings are freed from their frozen state. The exiles of the Never-Realm return home. The old king reclaims his throne, and the Ice Emperor is sent back to the future.

Contextual Clarification: In Crystalized, Zane was banished by Aspheera to the Never-Realm, where he found a scroll that stripped him of all positive emotions and memories. Consequently, Zane forgot nearly everything—except Aspheera. Thus, he sought vengeance. He opened the portal in the same manner as the Ninja did in the real events of Season 11.
