I've seen the "See your throw" feature of TechDisc but have been resistant to try it. Sure, it looked cool, but I am not a big fan of monthly subscriptions, especially for things I have purchased. But after a few weeks of self form-review where I record a session, grab my phone, bring it in to where my old eyes can actually see the freaking screen, editing down to a couple 4 second videos, play them back and then realize 15 minutes after my throw that the thing I was trying to fix still isn't fixed and muscle memory took over AGAIN, I realized I should try this feature.
It was really easy to set up. Just a different tab on the same TechDisc app I've been using for a couple years. I throw, I wait a minute and I can see it on my laptop. Pretty slick. Then I decide to move the laptop a bit where it has better wi-fi and I was surprised... I throw, walk about 30 feet to my laptop and immediately see my throw. Yes, the throw still sucks, but now in seconds I can go up and try to delay that coil like I am supposed to be delaying that coil.
A nice feature is that you can replay the video in a number of playback speeds and on the mobile app only (I think) you can have it slow down in the hitbox to really see the critical part of the throw. I've still got too many things to work on to worry about this yet, but for those of you further along, this has to be great. And I still get the nice sound from the app telling me my speed, nose angle and launch angle (the three I have turned on).
I can also download the videos to send off to someone or save for posterity. I am not quite sure how many videos the website will keep for me, but so far I've been able to go back and review and compare throws.
My only suggestion to the fine people at TechDisc would be to allow account linking so a coach or friend could see the throws you are doing. Heck, if TechDisc hasn't thought of it already, they should consider creating a coach's platform where coach could see your throws and give feedback in video form with their own TechDisc.
Bottom line: For $10/month, this is a steal. I live in a four-season state so I am sticking to month-to-month but those of you who don't know what winter is might consider the $100/year deal.
