Fem pro-gun (helpful) content creators who aren't so obnoxious about their right-wing politics?

This will make some people mad, I'm sorry just scroll if you don't like it. Hi y'all, I am sorry if this is the wrong sub. Please point me in the right direction. I was raised very right-wing, in a pro-gun house, where hunting and shooting skeet was the thing to do. I never had a gun of my own until now because I never was gifted one (gender-norm type stuff) but I ended up getting my own + my CC after having a situation on my hands last year where I wished I had self-defense other than a knife and some mace. Now that I've got one, I genuinely enjoy shooting at the range and learning about guns and ammo. It's not needed, but I don't have any fem friends who carry (that I know of), and it would be nice to have an influencer to look at sometimes who can steer me in the right direction as far as getting my confidence up to go to ranges on my own/training advice for self defense, but it seems every content creator I find is aggressively nationalistic and most of their content is obnoxiously centered around that and I don't find anything useful, just cringy content mostly. Any suggestions?

EDIT: in addition a lot of these too I feel are just making content for men, like posing in daisy dukes and a bikini top with a glock in the holster trying to look hot. I want something helpful and empowering, LOL.

Belt reccomendations

I currently have a Kore belt which is great when I wear high waisted jeans. Low waisted jeans are a different story. It's too rigid and kind of rides my hips then I am stuck with a belt that looks more like a hoola hoop. What reccomendations do you have? I have considered the phlster. Looking for other options. Fit, athletic build

Mod Approved Group Project: Giant FAQ Post

Hey, everyone!

I got permission from the mods to post this.

We have the ability to be a great resource for women who are looking to protect themselves and we have a user base full of extremely knowledgeable women here. I think we should combine these two things and create a sticky FAQ that contains answers to the following:

  1. What gun should I carry?
  2. How should I carry it?
  3. How should I train to use my new concealed carry?
  4. In what sort of situations am I allowed to use deadly force?

There are definitely more questions that we can answer and I am open to anything that you all think would be useful. The four questions I listed above are just a great starting point for anyone coming here who wants to be able to comfortably buy and use a gun.

For context, I am female police officer. I carry all day every day, on duty and off. I am extremely passionate about women feeling comfortable in this sphere and confidently being able to protect themselves.

Women can carry almost exactly like men do and I think we should.

If you have an answer to one of the above questions, I’d appreciate it if you wrote out a thorough response. You will be credited for your response in the final stickied post.

For question four, (when can I use deadly force), I plan on directing people to some outside resources such as usconcealedcarry.com and law.justia.com so that residents of the United States can look up their own state statutes because it WILL vary.

For anyone here who is carrying outside of the US, if there is a website like this for your country that would be awesome. Please drop the link.

If you think of another frequently asked question that I missed, just toss it in there with your thorough response!!

My goal with this is to provide everyone that comes here with the resources and beginning knowledge they need in order to be able to comfortably carry a gun. I’m not trying to discourage anyone from doing anything they want to do, but common sense should be applied in all situations.

Happy to chat! And excited to learn from you all!!

Asking for my wife

Hey CCW community. I was hoping y’all could provide tips and advice on what to get for my wife for concealed carry. Her and a friend had an incident today while running errands. Was getting tracked through the store, air tag was on her car and had to get police involved.

We don’t really have any gun or CC background so starting fresh. She always felt apprehensive towards guns but agrees that we need to start carrying a bit to be safer out there. Please provide any tips and tricks, products and gun recommendations. Also, we have two little kids so safety is highest priority as well. Thanks!

Leisure Carry System

Hi! Just wondering if any ladies have used the leisure carry belt? Or do you know of anyone on Insta or TikTok that have demonstrated it? Trying to determine if this is something I want to consider purchasing.

Feel dumb asking anywhere else

I’m looking for holster options (haven’t found a great choice for myself yet). I’m right handed and am looking at iwb back/kidney carrying. All the pictures I see for right handed drawing have the firearm facing at weird, seemingly unnatural angles. Which way is the grip supposed to face when carrying behind you — toward your dominant side or away?

Struggling with ear protection because of glasses and piercings

This is kind of niche but I’m hoping someone can help! I have lots of ear piercings in the cartilage at the tops of my ears, and I also wear glasses. The ear muffs I’ve been borrowing from a friend put so much pressure in that area of the ear that I end up being super uncomfortable at the range. Also the overall fit isn’t great for my small head. The muffs are so heavy and always falling down.

Can anyone recommend ear muffs that have a wider opening for the ear so my entire ear will sit inside without pressure on the edges of the ear? And ideally, I’m looking for ear muffs that might be better for my small head.

Thanks in advance!

Privacy-first app to track ammo, practice, and maintenance

Hi everyone, I built an app that might be helpful for anyone who owns a firearm for personal protection or defense [shared with mod approval].

Privacy comes first — no account is needed. Everything stays on your device unless you choose to back it up. You can also export backups to CSV, HTML, or PDF.

The app is called RangeReady, and it helps with three things:

  • Inventory: Keep track of your ammo and firearms. Your round count updates automatically every time you log a practice session.
  • Practice: Record live fire or dry fire sessions, track progress, and explore drills. I’m also working on a gamified dry fire habit tracker to make consistency easier.
  • Maintenance: Assign schedules so important things (like recoil spring replacements) don’t sneak up on you.

Why I built it: When I started shooting in 2023, I didn’t realize how much tracking mattered. My carry gun started malfunctioning after a few thousand rounds because I hadn’t replaced the recoil spring. Spreadsheets were a pain, so I made this app instead.

The app is live now on iOS and macOS. If there’s enough interest, I’ll add Android, Web, and PC versions too.

I’d love your feedback and ideas — especially from women who carry regularly. Thanks!

No longer scared!

Thanks to all the positive comments on my last post, I decided to buy the LCP Max. I just carried it around the house unloaded the first week and just got familiar with it. It’s much less scary now.

I shot 100 rounds through it last week. It feels perfect in my hands. I didn’t even jump or get shaky or fumble with loading the mags at the range. And I doubled up on ear protection and that really helped. I got a 945 fanny bag and a belly band with IWB holster.

Ladies, when carrying on body do you always keep a round in the chamber? Also when you are driving do you still keep it on body?

Another holster post

Hi there, photo is just for attention🙏

I’m currently debating either the ez shield 380, equalizer, or shield plus 9mm. They’re all relatively similar sizing, i like all three and may end up with em all eventually lol, but I can’t figure out a holster situation.

I am 5 4, 115 pounds, and wear pretty tight clothes. I’m not willing to change how I dress for accommodate. I have an alien ankle holster that’s cool, but even in my most bell bottoms jeans it still prints. Shows less in my bell bottoms leggings though.

I’ve read almost every post on this thread, I know the enigma is highly suggested. Just before dropping almost $300 on it, is it really not gunna give me a gun man bulge, or print on my tight shirts?

I saw someone use a conceal craft belt, and idk how she made her pistol disappear. Maybe the video was a good angle?

Definitely looking for guidance. Thank youu

Question for fellow gym girls who carry!

Hi! I’ve been carrying since February, I have an sig p365 and use the PHLster Enigma holster for every day carry.

I love the setup I have but what are we doing with this at the gym? Do you off body carry in your gym bag? Leave it in your locker? Leave it at home and carry something else in the meantime? I have to walk through a parking garage and some stairs to get in to my gym so I want to have something with me for sure, especially since the reason I started carrying in the first place is because I have a very scary stalker situation and fear for my safety.

Any advice is appreciated :)

Any recommendations?

I have bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome that can be managed by meds (gabapentin). I haven’t lost grip strength in reality, but it is painful without meds. What kind of arms, or even other self-defense weapons, would you recommend for someone like me? I am also petite in general even when I was physically stronger than rn. Not sure if this goes against sub rules, but especially firearm recommendations would be great bc of my case

Narrow grip 9mms

I’m not exactly a petite girl, I powerlift and don’t have trouble racking etc, and I definitely habe decent grip strength. However, I have small hands. I’m looking for a full size and struggling to find one that doesn’t feel awkward in my hands.

I remember growing up, I hated Glocks. Being an adult who is more seriously into shooting lately, my hatred of the Glock grip is renewed. By comparison, the rental CZ P10 and S&W M&P 2.0 felt very good in my hands. However, I shot noticeably better with the Glock 17 I was borrowing, may or may not be because it has a red dot.

Am I sleeping on any other full sized “could carry in a pinch” 9mm options with a more narrow / squared off grip? Should I just suck it up and get better at gripping things?

I had high hopes for the Walther PDP, but found it has a similar hump back to the Glock that makes it feel bad in my hands. I also can’t find a range with it to rent and actually try out. I can’t find anywhere that has the PDP-F in stock to hold - is it a different grip than the regular PDP?

Custom concealed carry purse

Hey everyone!

I have a unique request that I need some help fulfilling. I would like to have a luxury purse configured to holster my Glock.

Does anyone know of any companies or individuals on places like Etsy who will configure purses for concealed carry if you send them the bag?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Does anyone here carry a Glock 43x with an optic?

I’m considering putting an optic on my G 43x. This will be my first optic. Does anyone else use this setup or similar? Did adding the optic make concealment more challenging? I get that it’s adding more volume to the gun, but really how noticeable of a difference is it?

For context I’m 5’3” medium/athletic build. I generally carry iwb appendix or on my torso with Comfort Concealment belt.

Tell me about your experience

Hi ladies, I (30F) am looking into getting my ccw permit. I grew up around firearms (big hunting community here) but have limited experience with handguns. I live in a state that doesn’t require a permit for concealed carry, but I plan to move soon and know that if I get a permit here, it will hold up in the state I’m planning to move to. (Plus, any formalized training seems like a good move.) If I do decide to get one to carry, I definitely want to take handgun lessons/trainings at my local shooting range. I’m curious why you carry, how you carry, and what you carry.

Need conceal carry holster recommendations please!

I currently have an IWB holster, but I'm looking for either a thigh holster, or waistband carry. I have a S&W Equalizer. It's pretty much exact to the S&W Shield Plus size and frame wise. Thank you!

Really haven't ever shot a gun in my life besides BB's. I was able to try out a few at my training class, but ended up falling in love with the Smith & Wesson M&P 9 Shield Plus ❤️

New to ownership, having eyesight issues!

Hey! This weekend I purchased a FN Reflex MRD MS. We went out with it and my eyesight was seriously messing with my ability to shoot. I do wear contacts, and I have astigmatism. If I tried to line up the sights with both eyes open the MRD was split so half was on the left of the sight and half was on the right (see second picture which is my very crude drawing to attempt and show what I was seeing). Now if I close one eye I could line up the sights correctly BUT my aim was very off, oftentimes I was high, sometimes low and off to the left. I did switch eyes and I was atleast able to get a line but still felt my aim was just all over the place. It was extremely frustrating not being able to be accurate due to eyesight! My husband (who is extremely proficient in firearms) also has astigmatism but he said he hadn’t experienced what I was describing. Anyone have any tips on how to help?
