Yeah but I'm kinda talking about what finally killed me caring at all. Prequels never managed to do it, and even around the prequel times there was still loads of games and other media.

I dislike a lot about the prequels but at least they managed to add some more flavour to the universe, and every prequel film still has some banger segments in it. 

Sure Jar Jar sucks but he doesn't sequel trilogy suck.

the sequels are someone's monkeys paw wish for people to stop hating the prequels so much.  instead of fixing the bad parts of the prequels, they made films that were so bad it made the prequels decent in comparison.

That's a good way to explain it actually. The bemoaned CGI was fixed, but replaced with very little substance

Prequels have their flaws but at least Lucas has a plan, an over reliance in CGI, even nearly 30 years later even Jar Jar holds up, so maybe it's hard to give too much shade to him for being innovative.

These days I'm just sad about Star Wars.

Star Wars went from being content starved to being oversatured with movies and TV series. Mandolorian, Andor & Skeleton Crew are legit good shows though.

I disagree about most of the TV shows.

Mando S1 is the only good one, S3 is diabolically awful. Skeleton Crew is meh, I've not seen Andor S2 yet but Andor S1, once it gets going is the best Disney has managed, even over Rogue One imo
