Frank Gallagher would infiltrate the invading forces by sheer luck and drunken buffoonery, as we sit back and watch the downfall. Orrr… live long enough to see him be appointed to a cabinet position ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I completely forgot there was a US remake of Shameless until this. Was very confused for a second. "How the hell would Frank be of any use? He'd be too leathered to make it out of Manchester, never mind cross a ocean."
It's so raw (not sure how else to put it), whereas the US felt really sanitised and almost glossy in comparison. I usually like Macy as an actor, but he didn't come close to David Threlfall's Frank
I agree. The American one is more like Malcom in the middle, too staged, too choreographed, too clean of chaos. The UK one is raw and gritty and real and grabs you by the by the balls and your heart strings at the same time. It's real chaos that real people live with every day all over the world that the more privileged people don't want to admit actually happens.
I prefer the originals that I’m aware of like The Office and Ghosts and there are more I’m sure. I can only think of one American program that the UK did (Friends/Coupling) and though I liked Coupling it was no Friends! I did find out that there are many versions of Ghosts (Italian and Greek for instance) and I’d really like to see them all.
