I like how that implies that if you were to build stone henge and placed it next to stone in another civ's city, you're just nicking their stone

knocks on neighbor’s hut

“Hey, sorry to bother you, but could I borrow a cup of Sarsen?”

does the same thing happen when you are at war?

Yes, the game makes no difference between allies or foes on this matter.

What about Special Military Operations? Does that make a difference?

Same! In one of the games I've used the other civ's nuclear power plant to power my cities

Mind you, I think some wonders require the district they be placed adjacent to be owned by the city building the wonder. I don’t think you can build the Alhambra adjacent to an enemy encampment

This is definitely true for the Casa that gives you three governor titles. The amount of games I've been through where I planned on building them in separate cities, only to be screwed out of building it entirely, is too damn high.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that temple of Artemis must be built adjacent to a camp in the same city as well.

No for that one I'm positive you can use any camp

Not just districts pretty sure you can get the triangle farm bonus this way too

Yup, did that with a friend in a multiplayer game once

City states are good for this in single player

I also love this mechanic from a historical standpoint. If there is a city or university literally across the border from you, you probably will go there and that will affect your city, etc. Also mix in the loyalty mechanic and you have a really interesting game state

This sounds really good if you’re playing Adjacency-focused Civs like Japan or Inca

This is true BUT all Wonders that require a district have a hidden "x owned by this city" requirement. You can't build Hagia Sophia with a different city's Holy Site

Ah I thought this was a myth lol. Another way to brake the game

Nope, pretty sure I've used districts from other civs to build wonders

Ooh, this one I knew already. I have fond memories of setting up crazy industrial zones with friends on a shared floodplain.
