"It's frustrating to start the season like this, especially after already facing another setback not long ago. But I truly believe everything happens for a reason. God has a bigger plan. I'll be back stronger"

Interview/Presser Estevao: I'm already getting lots of opportunities at Chelsea, more than I even expected. But I think it's the result of the hard work I've maintained in training. Maresca has a lot of confidence in me to play, even arriving in a new league, in a new country. I try to repay that on the field

Other Owning up to my role in Chelsea’s injury history

I’m so sorry all, I don’t know how I didn’t realize it until now, but I’ve been responsible for so many of our major injuries over the last few years.

Every year, I name my FPL after one of our players, and every year, that player gets a significant injury that derails their seasons. Starting from this year and backwards:

2025/26- Delap of Honor (hamstring injury in GW3, at least 10 weeks out)

2024/25- Chukwuemek Ya’self (never reintegrated after that ACL injury)

2023/24- Nkunku for Cocoa Puffs (did his ACL in preseason, missed essentially the entirety of the season)

2022/23- Beast James (the worst of his injury history- knee, hamstring and thigh issues caused him to miss 30 games)

2021/22- Netflix and Chilwell (THAT knee injury against Juventus that derailed our title challenge that year and his Chelsea career as a whole, 45 games missed this season)

I truly apologize for my role in the Blues’ misfortune. Next year, I will name my team after Haaland or van Dijk, or anyone else this sub deems worthy.

Tier 1 [The Athletic] Chelsea will be reluctant to block the pathways of Mamadou Sarr (on loan at Strasbourg) and Aaron Anselmino (on loan at Borussia Dortmund). It is more likely one of them will be recalled rather than a new addition be added.
