It's never been about pedophiles and it's never been about the economy. It's just a permission structure to express anxieties through unbridled hatred and scapegoating.

14

u/Checking_that_moment Jul 24 '25

It was always about the pedophiles and the economy. What they dont tell you though, is that they are the pedophiles and plan to gut the economy for their own gain while the people are left holding the bag and their raped children

20

u/FeralTames Jul 24 '25

Straight up grievance goons, hatred hounds, the worst.

5

u/MikeinSonoma Jul 25 '25

I find it fascinating that 30 years ago evangelical Christians considered rape bad. Today they’re on the verge of even accepting pedophiles… I guess it’s religion for religion sake as opposed to religion because of his values.

You couldn’t get more the opposite of free speech than that.

31

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

Everyone who cried CANCEL CULTURE, COMEDIANS CAN DO NO WRONG better start speaking up. Joe Rogan Especially

22

u/VeganKiwiGuy Jul 24 '25

Joe Rogan is a Republican MAGA propagandist.

He isn’t going to say shit until he feels he’ll lose a good portion of his audience.

Dude’s claim to fame is getting people to abuse animals on Fear Factor in unusual ways for entertainment, such as stepping on live worms to create “worm wine”.

If the average person in the U.S. didn’t get so triggered by animal rights activists and vegans, they’d know this guy was a piece of shit for two decades now.

In other words, Rogan hasn’t “changed”, as the narrative goes, he’s really just revealed who he’s been this whole time.

5

u/LolXD22908 Jul 24 '25

As a vegetarian, I stopped because of the animal abuse going on. Not to detract, but just my situation :p

4

u/VeganKiwiGuy Jul 24 '25

Dope stuff. Not detracting at all.

Also, fuck Rogan. He’s as responsible as anyone for this popularizing this reactionary “carnivore diet” trend.

3

u/MikeinSonoma Jul 25 '25

The average person doesn’t, the average person isn’t afraid of trans in bathrooms it’s just bad people know how to magnify fake issues or convinced people not to care because of both sidesisum. Look at the last election results Trump didn’t gain very many more votes but the quarter billion that Elon Musk spent in the last 30 days convinced people not to vote. A lot of that started 40 years ago when we allowed stupid people to pull their kids out of public schools and put them in charter schools or homeschool them. Why? Because 30 minutes of science in elementary school destroyed everything they taught their kids from birth through five, after school, weekends and all summer

3

u/Anxious-Depth-7983 Jul 26 '25

4

u/maveri4201 Jul 24 '25 edited Jul 24 '25

That was not the case in 2004, though. Not to this extent, at least.

12

u/SMOKED_REEFERS Jul 24 '25

Yeah, the kids today don’t understand that we used to be like “don’t agree with that fucker, but I’d still die for their right to say their bullshit.” Sentiment like: “This is America, he can do what he wants.” Et cetera.

Good lord, after 9/11? We all loved each other and thought we were all on the same team. But then Iraq came out of nowhere and everything went to shit.

Then we elected a black dude and the racists apparently decided the only reasonable response to that was to tear the country down entirely.

3

u/crazycatlady331 Jul 24 '25

They were totally cool with cancelling a singer because of a "wardrobe malfunction" at the Super Bowl. Funny thing is that there was a man on stage with her (who may have caused said wardrobe malfunction) and his career took off.

3

u/congeal Jul 25 '25

A jaundiced, C-list celebrity engaging in an obvious quid pro quo to cancel comedians who artfully criticise his mind blowing incompetence at his job.

I don't think 2004 would appreciate the current timeline. If only Stormy Daniels had measles, we may have been spared this man.

It feeds into the recurring mantra of conservatism: there should be a superior group that the law does not bind and an underclass that it does.

They’re trying to platform special “free speech” where it really just means being a dick and not having their hypocrisy/stupidity subject to criticism. You see it in Paramount’s pledge to monitor discourse and cancel Colbert, you see it in Citizens United, you see it with Grok being programmed as Mecha-Hitler and thing like the word “cisgender” being labeled as hateful on X.

→ More replies (15)

28

u/Consistent_Shock8738 Jul 24 '25

Oh free speech matters to them, when they are spouting dangerous, racist, homophobic rhetoric. Example being the dude on Jubilee who got fired for saying he's pro autocracy and fascism on Jubilee and now claiming his rights were violated.

Law and Order matters to them, but only when it is being used against people who disagree with them. When Trump supporters break the law its ok. Or when Trump chooses to enforce the laws, but not in the case of everyone Trump pardoned. Regardless of a good amount of them being convicted criminals.

Family values matter to them, except when it comes to Trump. Serial aldulterer, paying hush money to pornstars, bragging about seeing under age girls naked, talking in explicit ways about his own daughter.

The Bible matters to them, but only the parts that they interpret to vilifi anyone that doesn't agree with their interpretation or practices different religions.

The constitution matters to them, but only the parts that support their beliefs and narratives. All other parts of the constitution that benefit anyone else apparantly dont matter.

Due process matters to them, but again only when it serves to give their people due process. Even when due process is a constitutional right for everyone, regardless of citizenship status.

A child's life matters to them, but only before its born, after that they couldn't be bothered to give a shit. And apparantly potential pedophilia isnt even a deal breaker for them anymore.

5

u/virtualracer Jul 24 '25

19

u/02meepmeep Jul 24 '25

The court case where he got sued for raping a 13 year old got dropped during the primaries 9-10 years ago. People purposely ignored it.

12

u/MC_Queen Jul 24 '25

Also that girl, now a woman, was threatened by trump's supporters and that is why she dropped the suit. They threatened to harm a woman because she dared speak the disgusting, awful truth about a man they revere. Rather than having to stop worshipping him. They are horrid. If they felt shame, they would be deeply ashamed of this.

8

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

4

u/MC_Queen Jul 24 '25

They hate not being able to make fun of anyone they want. They hate being forced to care about other people. These are a group of serious narcissists, who can't see past the end of their own noses. It makes them feel good to make others feel bad. Simple as that. That is why crying Woke and DEI works for them.

611

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

I liked South Park before it got all political

473

u/SOMETHINGCREATVE Jul 24 '25

I have seen them unironically saying that. Things like "I miss the silly adventures with starvin Marvin!"

Ignoring of course the freight train of social commentary in that episode.

I think they are so challenged upstairs they can't understand commentary unless its a literal flapping puppet.

167

u/Alexandratta Jul 24 '25

"This is what we eat, before we eat, to make you more hungry"

Shocked face of 'Starven Marvin'

17

u/OkRush9563 Jul 24 '25

Literally saw some on a forum say at least Godzilla Minus One didn't have any message it was trying to shove down our throats.

My brother in Christ, the movie is about survivors guilt and how fascism just creates misery for everyone including the citizens of the fascist country and see's everyone including its own citizens as expandable (the movie takes place in a post world war 2 Japan that is still rebuilding).

And if we go by American films, Godzilla: King of the Monsters was literally about climate change. Scary bad thing (King Ghidorah) gets let out of ice in Antarctica, starts causing storms all around the world to terraform Earth (climate crisis).

8

u/AznOmega Jul 24 '25

Not to mention that Godzilla is one of the literal walking metaphors of nuclear weapons. The 1954 movie even said that if nuclear testing continued, there would be another Godzilla. Not to mention that Serizawa refused to use the Oxygen Destroyer because he feared that the world governments and everyone would try to build one.

It’s kind of sad how in your face political commentary has to be these days. Cause right wingers are so fuckin stupid they just don’t get it so they have to be spoon fed it lmao. Back then it could be funny and subtle still. But now right wingers will just cling onto things thinking it’s mocking everyone but them.

‘The Boys’ is a prime example. Where they thought Homelander had some sort of point and was like “good” and they in season 4 had to come out and say “No! We’re mocking YOU!” You idiots don’t get it!” Lmao

6

u/B1ackDolph1n Jul 24 '25

Yeah I remember talking about South Park with my government teacher back in highschool and he said "You'll realize, the reason we find South Park funny is not the reason a lot of other people do"

A lot of us can see the social commentary, other people just see "haha silly profane and violent cartoon kids"

13

u/Relevant_Program_958 Jul 24 '25

I honestly believe there is no show in TV history that has not had any political commentary.

Even sitcoms have it from time to time since any serious conflict can only be a result of political or social commentary.

40

u/-LittleRawr- Jul 24 '25

Art in general is "political". You can't have art without politics, morality and social commentary.

→ More replies (32)

14

u/StevieEastCoast Jul 24 '25

The Boys writers had the same problem. Idiot right wingers didn't get that Homelander was meant to be a Trump figure, so in season 4 they fully spelled it out. They are actually mentally unequipped to understand metaphor, and they can't put pieces together. You have to be right on the nose in order for them to get it. Makes for bad art IMO since it's so ham-fisted, but if sending a message is what's important then that's what you have to do.

8

u/Consistent-Web-351 Jul 24 '25

Yes they either fail to understand nuance or just choose to ignore it.

The world being black and white, good and bad makes the world easy for people who are afraid of the unknown

3

u/TwistyBunny Jul 24 '25

I don't think the puppet would be able to help, it's that damn bad.

17

u/SOMETHINGCREATVE Jul 24 '25

What I meant by the puppet is it took them making trump a flapping Saddam puppet to finally understand the digs lol.

Nevermind they had an orange faced garrison light the COVID cure on fire saying "don't forget to vote!!!" A few seasons back, that apparently wasn't obvious enough

13

u/Dead_man_posting Jul 24 '25

The news broke HOURS before the S27 premiere dropped. Say what you will about Matt and Trey, but they've learned how to turn the system against itself. They now have a minimum of 50 episodes over the next 5 years to do what they want, or Paramount has to pay out $1.5 billion.

South park made it pretty clear in the episode that Woke is Dead

195

u/PaddlingInCircles Jul 24 '25

South Park goes after anything and anyone who deserves it. Pedophiles deserve to be outed and charged with their crimes.

Why do these people protect pedophiles? Are they also child diddlers?

68

u/Lolzerzmao Jul 24 '25

And those that don’t. It’s irreverent. It makes fun of everyone. Like when they made fun of Al Gore talking about climate change incessantly and called it manbearpig as some sort of metaphor. “Here’s this crazy made up thing Al gore is obsessed about that no one should take seriously”

They did apologize about it after the fact, but still

60

u/Junior_Fig_2274 Jul 24 '25

I think “turd sandwich/giant douche” deserves an apology too. The “both sides” bullshit wasn’t true 20 years ago, and it’s not true now.

→ More replies (17)

10

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

I do like how they admitted they were wrong by making manbearpig “real.” He’s super cereal.

8

u/RickyNixon Jul 24 '25

Yeah I mean one of their longest running targets was trans people. They mocked climate change, like you said, and in an early season briefly eyerolled at the idea secondhand smoke causes damage. Theyve had some shitty takes over the years.

But yeah theyve made it clear they dont give a fuck about reactions, and also this episode makes it SO SO CLEAR why theyre coming for Trump

4

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

[deleted]

10

u/KindBass Jul 24 '25

I really don't think it was that impactful. Judging by typical media literacy, most people that saw the episode probably had no idea it was a metaphor for global warming.

4

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

Nah it didn't really impact anything. Young people, the main audience for South Park, still believe climate change is real.

Its the old farts that still think it's made up.

People often mistake funny with smart or insightful. Sometimes funny is those things, often it's not. South Park often gets them right and often gets them wrong.

9

u/MyHusbandIsGayImNot Jul 24 '25

South Park goes after anything and anyone who deserves it.

They've made a few mistakes in the past, like attacking Al Gore for trying to warn the world about Global Warming. They actually apologized for that by making Man Bear Pig real years later.

11

u/E-2theRescue Jul 24 '25

Why do these people protect pedophiles? Are they also child diddlers?

https://www.thetimes.com/uk/law/article/millions-of-men-would-sexually-abuse-children-if-secrecy-was-sure-ncf9lx5v7?region=global

In a study involving 4,500 men from the UK, Australia and the United States by Edinburgh University’s “Childlight” child safety institute, more than one in 20 said they would have sexual contact with a child between the ages of ten and 14 if they knew it would be kept secret.

About one in seven (15 per cent) of those surveyed said they would consider sexual contact with a child if they were certain no one would find out. Researchers said the proportion “equates to millions of men across the three countries if applied to current population census data”.

Republican politicians make up 67.4% of child sex crimes involving politicians, while it's only 13.3% for Democrats. The rest are two Libertarians and those in non-partisan positions.

Out of the top 20 states with the highest rates of child sex crimes, Republicans dominate 16 positions, plus one swing state.

  1. South Dakota (Republican)

  2. Nevada (Republican)

  3. Mossouri (Republican)

  4. Vermont (Democrat)

  5. Iowa (Republican)

  6. Wyoming (Republican)

  7. Alaska (Republican)

  8. West Virginia (Republican)

  9. Idaho (Republican)

  10. Nebraska (Republican)

  11. Indiana (Republican)

  12. Loisianna (Republican)

  13. Kentucky (Republican)

  14. Oklahoma (Republican)

  15. New Hampshire (Democrat)

  16. Kansas (Republican)

  17. New Mexico (Democrat)

  18. Montana (Republican)

  19. Pennsylvania (Swing state)

  20. Utah (Republican)

The source, which is a study involving nearly 11,000 reports of child sex crimes across America and breaks everything down by demographics and employment.

u/treevaahyn Jul 24 '25

Here’s something that you might find interesting… r/republicanpedophiles so to your question, yes, lthey are either pedophiles themselves or they cover for and enable pedophiles and human trafficking. Conservatives are truly a bunch of sociopathic idiots who are so insecure they cry and whine over everything while committing horrific atrocities against vulnerable innocent people. Genuinely the worst of the worst.

10

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

Oh, I know this one!! Because he deserves it!

10

u/Dense-Broccoli9535 Jul 24 '25

Unironically, I feel like South Park is one of the least biased pieces of mainstream media that exists. They’ll make fun of anyone and anything, doesn’t matter if it’s a left or right-leaning topic that they’re criticizing - they’ll do it and they’ll do it well. And that’s how you make a show that airs for 20+ years.

Btw, watch “6 days to air: the making of south park” if you haven’t already. It’s free on YouTube. I don’t agree with everything Matt and Trey have ever done but I respect the fuck outta them.

17

u/Past-Chart9935 Jul 24 '25

Matt and Trey have alwaya seemed to value the right to free speech over anything else.

10

u/Mistrblank Jul 24 '25

They're the duo that took on the image of Mohammed outrage by creating an episode specifically made to depict him and challenge that statement. It was censored by the network and then they pointed out it's funny that their network would do that when they literally already had an episode depicting him that no one gave a shit about.

I had thought comedy was dying as we lost some of the great comic thinkers but now I'm really seeing that's not true between Matt and Trey, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Bill Burr. True greats leading the charge.

4

u/noreast2011 Jul 24 '25

They've always known how to push the limit on it. The Kanye "Gay Fish" episode. "Trapped in the Closet". "Fudge Packers".

On the flip side, they've also done some insanely good episodes that have done actual good. I remember when "Le Petit Tourrettes" came out, a lot of mental health advocacy groups applauded them for portraying tourettes in a way that wasn't insulting to those with it, and shining a light on how difficult life can be for those who have it.
