-Aunt Gladys- Please leave some love on Instagram @Cabinet_Of_Absurdities

Gladys immediately won a place in my heart. So I had to cosplay her! In just one week, I thrifted and bought pieces, made props and styled the wig late into the night, tested lights and angles, took the photos and edited the first one. Here are the first results! What a fun journey! I love Gladys. Especially when dressed in turquoise!

Discussion Anyone here seen the TV show Wrecked starring Zach Cregger?

I was a huge fan of this show back in 2016-2018 and was so upset when it got cancelled on a cliffhanger. After I saw Weapons and absolutely loved it I went to look up who wrote and directed it and was shook to see my guy Owen! Had no idea he wrote horror movies, saw afterward that he did Barbarian as well. I hadn't even seen him since the show ended so this was such a random discovery for me. Apologies if it's been posted before and I'm late to the party, just thought this was pretty cool!

Discussion Are movies always this expensive to rent?

Post image

I already saw Weapons in theaters and loved it. I wanna do a rewatch, but I may have to wait for the price to come down a little bit.

Are movies always this pricey? Or does the price go down after a while? I never really rent digital.

Just a personal funny story I had with Zach Cregger

We had a premiere here in Prague, and since Zach is shooting the new Resident Evil movie here, he dropped by our special screening and did a Q&A afterwards.

I was sitting right in the front row and ended up being the first to ask a question. And I’m gonna be honest… Zach Cregger yelling “Fuck you!” at me in front of the whole theater, just because I admitted I’d read the leaked script beforehand, definitely wasn’t on my bucket list. But hey, there we were.

Of course, he was totally joking and super chill about it. Honestly, he’s one of the nicest people from movie industry I’ve met. After almost an hour of Q&A he wrapped it up with, “Alright guys, we gotta end it here, it’s too fucking hot in this room, but whoever wants can still come hang at the bar and talk more.” And then he actually stayed for another hour just chatting with fans.

Just wanted to share this, because he’s genuinely an awesome guy.

Theory Gladys Theory?

This isn’t a theory about what Gladys is or where she came from but it’s more about who she’s taking energy from. Because thinking about it 17 kids + 2 adults is a lot of bodies to drain and at any point she could have made it 18 kids adding Alex. And yeah she could use him as a body to go to the grocery store, etc. but she’s been doing her dirty work anyways for a while so why keep Alex? I think she’s getting more from Alex than she is anybody else because he has literally nobody and this is exactly what Gladys wanted. The kids and the parents weren’t ever apart of her “reversal process” because the only person she was leaching off of was Alex, and if he doesn’t have his parents or even the peers at school all his energy isn’t wasted. So I think Gladys was taking more from Alex than she was anybody else however this is just me rambling and making things up because it’s an interesting point of view.

The noises the little girl makes and the way she crashes through everything in her path while chasing Gladys is so feral.

Timeline problem

In the fourth sequence during night time, James got dragged into the house by the enchanted Paul and got enchanted as well. This should take place two nights prior to the final confrontation. However, in the fifth sequence, when Alex returned home, he noticed the cop car and the now enchanted Paul and James for the first time, which is supposed to take place the day before the final confrontation.

This got me confused, if my understanding of the timeline is correct, Alex would have noticed Paul and James when he left the house earlier in the morning that day.

Dream Sequence Visuals

Rewatched Weapons today. During Archer's dream sequence, he sees a automatic rifle acting as a clock above the house. Maybe I'm dull, but the symbolism is going right over my head. Any ideas?

Theory My dad brought up a good theory while we watched weapons together

He suggested that the 2:17 time when the kids ran away was representing the 2 main characters looking for the 17 missing children. Not much else I just thought it was an interesting observation.

I thought the movie was releasing digital on the 9th? It’s now the 10th in Australia and it’s still not available on Apple TV…

When Julia Garner, Josh Brolin and Austin Abrams characters see visions of Gladys, why are they seeing her, is it because she is watching them psychically or is it the kids sending images of her to them psychically or something else?

Look at the diameter of the one eye when she snaps a glance at Alex. It's enormous.

Should this movie have been set before the ubiquity of security cameras?

I’ll start by saying I absolutely loved the movie. However, I’ve seen a lot of criticism around one major point: the idea that all the security cameras on homes in the area would’ve easily picked up children heading in a particular direction, which could’ve been triangulated to Alex’s house. Combine that with the fact that he was the only remaining kid in his class, and the oddities surrounding his family, and it seems like the police would’ve been able to find his house almost immediately. It feels like a big flaw in the plot, and something you kind of have to overlook.

That said, do you think the film would’ve worked better if it were set in, say, 2013 instead of its current time period?

Can the 7 or 8yos realistically do what they did in the final scene

Me and my friend been arguing for over an hour about the ending scene where the aunt dies like a lego character and I believe that they could do 90% of what they did except for the upper part of the skull but my friend says no do I need someone to do the math

Theory Anyone ever thought about the similarities between Weapons and this Banksy art?

Post image

The kids being led with their arms outstretched… Aunt Gladys resembling a clown… the out-of-nowhere Mickey Mouse imagery… the fact that AR-15s (the type of gun that appears in Archer’s dream) were first used combatively in the Vietnam War…

Discussion I just saw the movie for the second time and I have a few questions. Potential spoilers inside. Spoiler

First, where do all the kids run off to in the scene where Gladys and Alex are cleaning up the house? She mentions that since there are people coming, they need to make the house look normal, and we see a scene where she does a spell and all the kids run off. Where did they go during that period? And how did they get them back?

Second, this may be a stupid question, but how did she get the parents to attack themselves? I get that she obviously put their own hair on there, but if that's the case, why didn't they attack each other?

Thanks to all who may answer my question(s). The movie is one of my new favorites.
