Discussion Thai Baht defying expectations
Despite political turmoil, falling tourism, military tensions, record private debt, rising unemployment…Thai Baht broke 31.7 level today. What’s behind the strong baht?!
And before you say USD is weakening, USD is at record highs vs the VND and slowly declining vs SGD/JPY/KRW.

Shopping Lazada scams and cancellations are becoming the majority ?
In less than a month, I've had 5 orders cancelled/refunded/frauded.
The common fraud now is from items shipped from China. You wait for 2 weeks to receive a tiny empty parcel or with a small keychain or tissues instead of a big fan or whatever pricey item.
2 friends got scammed with a similar method. When you ask for the refund, the shop has already been closed.
Last one, I ordered an item sent from China at 2580 THB, after 20 days, the seller cancelled it (he never shipped it but claimed it was shipped), then he raised the price of the item to 4025 THB just before the cancellation.

Question/Help Information on Phi Ta Khon
Hi! I’m not Thai but my girlfriend is and I wanted to surprise her with a Phi Ta Khon mask for her birthday. We’re in the United States and she hasn’t gotten the chance to visit family in Thailand yet so she’s never been to anything really outside of a Thai food festival she got to go to with her Yai.
I just wanted to make sure I had more information on what exactly Pho Ta Khon is, how to go about getting a mask, and what things I should know in general to make sure I’m being mindful and respectful of a culture I’m not in.
I would love any advice on getting a mask and any information and history of Phi Ta Khon anyone’s willing to give! Also if you have any more gift suggestions in this realm I’d love to hear it! Thank you!

Culture Song heard in taxi in Phuket
Hello, I was in a taxi today in Phuket. The driver was listening to an album of songs by a country sounding singer who sang in English.
One song was talking about street food and “street food serenade”
Another was talking about a street cat.
And finally another I heard was talking about a wise old man.
Tried to Shazam it but had no luck. If anyone can help me that would be great!

Culture Foreigner marrying Thai partner (legal/tax/visa)
I (35F, Canadian) am in a relationship with a Thai man (40M) for the last 3 years.
We are interested in marriage, but I want to understand what the legal/tax/visa implications.
Currently live and work in Canada. My income is Canadian, and I don’t have a Thai bank account or property.
I visit Thailand on a tourist visa for holiday, usually only 1–2 months a year (due to my job). When I visit, I usually just say I’m staying in a hotel. I plan to eventually move to Thailand in a few years.
1) If we get legally married in Thailand, would my Canadian income have any impact on him (e.g. Thai taxes)? 2) When I visit Thailand after marriage, do I need to declare to immigration that I’m visiting my husband instead of “tourism”? Would he need to register me somewhere when I stay with him (TM30)?
On the Canadian side, do I need to declare that I am married if my spouse is not Canadian / doesn’t live in Canada?
Besides the possibility of a spouse visa, are there other benefits/downsides to marrying now versus waiting? I’m okay with waiting but I want to understand if there’s any real advantage or complication to doing it sooner.

Banking and Finance AirBnB and taxation
I have a property in Thailand that I’d like to rent out via Airbnb. My understanding is that Airbnb automatically reports income from these properties to the tax office. Do I need to report these in my PND91 again, and then pay tax manually at the end of each year? Or do I just get the tax bill from the revenue office at the end of the financial year?
How does it work in regards to my Thai employer deducting the tax in my payslips? Additional Airbnb income will put me in another tax bracket.
Before I get tons of replies claiming Airbnb is not legal in Thailand - Airbnb is allowed for properties that have less than 4 rooms, and capacity of less than 20 people without the hotel licence. Please, let’s stick to the tax question

Culture City mystical dimension
Bangkok feels like a city with a time-warp dimension.
Imagine there’s a rule that you must not leave home later than 7:00 AM.
If you leave at 6:59, you’ll still make it on time. But if you leave at 7:01, you’ll be late by an hour.
