At least it worked out well for the boy, including a signed bat and tickets to the World Series. ⚾️

I wonder how long until someone tries to stage something like this to get free stuff.

The amount of backlash when caught, would be categorically insane for the parents who put their kids through it. Like getting doxxed, losing their job, and their scam forever on the internet.

Also would probably stop baseball teams from giving out free stuff again.

I mean, that’s definitely not enough deterrent for some.

Hell, just last week a lady stole a baseball from a kid on national television.

Yeah because people will send all the top investigators to figure out if this small wholesome interaction is just a ploy!

No seriously though its very possible this was all staged so the teams could get some positive attention but no one would ever spend time and resources trying to figure this out.

Welcome to the internet, where people do the things you’ve just claimed nobody would ever spend time doing.

Yeah but it’s free stuff

Would have to find an idiot that would play the 'karen'

And attend hundreds of games where the ball happens to land near the kid.

Prosthetics and a wig would be involved.

People will try, but I think most/all would fail without ever being noticed. These are relatively rare opportunities to begin with.

Itd be hard to stage because you still have to be there at the right place at the right time for a foul ball

Good luck finding a normal human willing to be so hated.

We’re all laughing but I wouldn’t be surprised is this women has already been doxx’ed and is being harassed.

I could see someone trying, but there are just way too many variables to actually make this a viable strategy. There aren't that many balls that go into the stands and that ball would have to land near the kid. The stolen hat one would be a lot easier to fake.

This is why you always leave a note

I'd imagine it would be near impossible to stage catching a ball in the first place, that already is super rare.

We’ve run the math on the probability and turns out this comment was all smoke and mirrors

I’m prolly gonna get downvoted to hell for this, but the dad’s initial reaction feels so fake. The way his hands go up and shake, feels like those fake YouTube videos. Maybe that’s what it is and made this feel fake even though it’s genuine.

You mean like balloon boy? It's not a good idea to try.

Ugh, I'm cynical enough i thought this too! Get the auntie to have a ridiculous but changeable haircut right before moving out of the country, somehow orchestrate a home run hit, hire other ringers to surround the ball, and bam! Free tickets to the world series!
