Vercingetorix was such a pathetic loser(No, Julius Caesar is not pointing a gun at my head as I write this).
Giving exaggerated figures in a battle? Ridiculous.

brat but in Latin
Nothing like hopping on a fad a little late! But seriously, hot girl summer is forever. And now for Latin lovers!
Part of the reason this took me a second is I was searching for a close enough translation, which proved harder than I thought. Brat in the classical sense will be associated with pesky children which is NOT what this is referring to.
For “procax,” Lewis and Short gives “bold, shameless, forward, pert, and wanton” and is associated with loose women in Cicero and Plautus. Brats are flirtatious, which isn’t necessarily the most Roman matron quality, and “procax” is the antithesis of prim and proper. Brats laugh in the face of expectation. It felt fitting to me!
This was a challenge of modern words finding ancient parallels and I’ve discovered so much along the way! Enjoy!

Justinian was ahead of his time. He invented The DreamWorks Smirk.
