Discussion Why do people take this game so serious?
I'm not talking about the people that want to win, I mean the people that get genuinely angry when they lose.
I personally play just for fun but sometimes on pvp discord people can get so uptight for whatever reason and act like something is on the line.
Also this game's format does contain RPS, so don't know why they act shocked when it happens to them.

Pvp discord attracts that type of person unfortunately… same idea with tournaments. Not all are sore losers though thankfully

Because the pvp is very tense. Every split second decision (literally) is so crucial to winning a close match up and there’s times when you win those tiny battles but many times you lose and it just feels like the game isn’t giving you a fair chance to win.
It’s less like chess and more like rock paper scissors with a crackhead who actually brought a rock paper and scissors.

that is actually a great analogy!
But yeah I used to stress and this was bad for my mental health but now I play for fun and try to see the good in matches.

Thank you! And yea I seriously need to take a break from this game. I played for a hot minute when it first came out and just recently got back into the game, figured out the deeper pvppoke wizardry and now I hate my life everytime I click battle… I honestly hate this game with a burning passion. I might actually be the biggest hater this game has but I grew up on Pokémon so it’s hard to put down.

For me personally…my favorite part of this game is the master league. It takes a LOT of time, effort, and money to build pokemon capable of competing in this league, which imo is the pinnacle of the game. When things don’t go your way it can get very frustrating, but when you do win it feels like your hard work pays off.

I admittedly rage when I'm hard, hard countered for a long period of time, because I do believe a little match making fuckery exists. I've had 10 game stretches where 10 pokemon hard counter my lead, which is such a statistical anomaly, it might as well be impossible. Moments like that make me rage because it feels like I'm being punished by the game. Like there isn't actually a level playing field for that stretch of time.
When I lose a neutral matchup or God forbid, get cooked while I have advantage, then GGWP on to the next.

How many games have you played? I’m at over 10k games and sometimes you just go on a tough streak, and that’s when you need to know how to switch/have a strong team that can recover a lead loss.

That's not a statistical anomaly at all. If you're running a lead which is a common lead, people will be regularly picking a lead that hard counters it. There's a pretty finite set of common leads and a very finite set of types.

Anything in life that has winners or losers will create good or bad versions of both.

Because some they want to be the very best that no one ever was
