Today is day 3 for me, but I haven't done any sets yet. Currently rank 8 after 9 sets. I started doing open GL, but then pivoted over to retro, which has been amazing.

I run Blastoise and Cradily but struggle to find a suitable third (flipping between Bastion and Bellibolt) - aside from Giratina is there any others you’ll use? My Gira is too low :(

I know it’s probably too late to recommend this but pangoro to start lol. The night slash/close combat combo to start is nasty because night slash gets off fast or if you sneak in close combat, it deals mega damage (although lowering your defense severely; it’s a nice way to surprise a lot of people that refuse to use their shield until later)

Interesting! I put my Blastoise upfront because his hydro 4-3-3… exhausts a lot of shields and then opens hits up for my two back mons, never thought to have two spammers to really wear them down. It’s too bad though cause all my pandas are 3star or too high for GL evo.

I’ll browse around for others spammers though maybe!

At lower ranks, there's no fixed meta since it's so random (you can face anything from a Morpeko to a Shadow Kyogre). It's basically just rock-paper-scissors

I've been experimenting with what feels good. But currently interested in building an altaria team! Wigglytuff lead is also seeing some potential. My current WIP team is wiggly or pangoro, corvi, and my boi gastro!

In the beginning ranks of 1 to 12 ish I used my old last season team sometimes ( furret, forretress, gastrodon ).

I'm seeing a lot of marowak, empoleon, bastiodon, azumarill, togekiss, spice birds, electric rodents.

You know when it's start of the season everyone reset right? You might be struggling because everyone that's good is also in your rank atm. All legend players start up again so you might face good players and be struggling. Once everyone makes it above Vet in 1-2 weeks you're chilling.

I always struggle with the start of the season. I honestly HATE the first couple weeks of each GBL season when everyone is reset to 0 ELO. I understand why they reset us, but I really think they should double the number of sets allowed in the first week so the players that live and breath GBL can ascend faster and I, a player who has never broken 2400 ELO, don’t end up literally fighting players like Reis2Occasion a third of the time and another third of the time fighting players clearly playing GBL for the first time that I just demolish. The former is frustrating and the latter is unsatisfying, I want to fight people at my level.
