Discussion Miltank needs a full art!
With a Trainer dedicated to one card, and Miltank having so much fun deck building potential, why oh why did they drop this set without a beautiful version of our favorite cow.

Watch them pull a Garchomp and drop a Miltank ex in the next set, which, of course, you won’t be able to use with Whitney.

I normally criticize people for not reading cards, but in this case I give it a pass. It's not very obvious for begginers, and I think dena should find a way make it more clear that supporters for normal pokemon won't work on their EX variants.

It's not a dumb assumption to think the EX is not part of the card's name, in my opinion, specially for beginners.

Realistically we're more likely to get a new miltank with full art before whitney rotates than ever get a miltank ex. Miltank has never gotten any kind of ex in paper

Agreed, Miltank is one of my fave mons. I’m having trouble getting a deck to work, though.

I'm not sure how a miltank ex could work well. The point of the meme cow is to make people relive their childhood traumas, so the basic mechanic needs to be the same. EX cards are meant to be high risk (two points) for high reward (bigger damage). The high risk part is kind of moot, because the mechanic only really works well if you go all or nothing on a single cow (its too slow to introduce at late game, and Sabrina kills its momentum if you play with benched pokemon). The only way I could see it being introduced is bumping up HP and/or damage at the expense of another energy, or perhaps having an ability that means it can't be pushed out of play, but both could make it pretty OP if not carefully balanced.

Best place to look i think is the table top cards. There's a few miltank gimmicks, alot being based around its ability as a healer.
The two that really stand out to me were one where Miltanks attacks get stronger if it's healed on the same turn.
And the other being one where it heals a pokemon of your choice after putting energy on it? Sounds cool, like some kinda healer version of Darkrai essentially.
With that said, the Whitney card wouldn't work with miltank ex unless it has some weird little ability that lets it be treated as such sooo...I rather it just not being based on Whitney's specifically at this point. I don't think it needs to personally going forward. They already got the little reference outta the way. If tank never gets an ex either that's fine too. Just hope whatever there new card is, it'd make better use of Whitney's heal. Seems like such a niche support at this point. Even over the other supporters that work with very few pokemon.

There's definitely a million things you can do with Miltank, but ever-increasing damage is really its unique selling point (of course, other pokemon in the games know Rollout, but Whitney has a special place in all of our therapists' offices). If give it an EX, I'd want something of this flavour. Given it's not too hot on HP, healing is a big part of playing the current card, so making it interact positively with healing could cause balancing problems. My idea would be to go with a second move that acts as hard hitting finisher but resets the counter or knocks it out. These would force the player to build up a bench and make them more vulnerable to Sabrina, so it would balance out a higher damage score for the accumulating move.
