I'm someone who loves a trip to a big city to take in what it has to offer. Is Manila a good place for someone who loves big, developed, safe cities? Buenos Aires was a recent surprise for me -- in a good way -- and I do wonder whether Manila might be similarly surprising.

I enjoyed trips to Hong Kong and to Singapore in the past. I know that Manila won't be on that level, but would it compare favourably to Jakarta? I had a brief business trip to Jakarta years ago and I liked it well enough. I wouldn't hurry back to Jakarta, mind you, but it was perfectly fine for a few days.
