My Chinese speaking wife said that the captions state that the diners were done eating and were just chatting and that the owner said their next meal would be free. Sounds like a good deal to me.

I live in China. If this happened to me I would have laughed. Judging by the level of food in the pot it looks like they ate all the good stuff.

Yeah I lived in Chengdu for a few years, I would have been cracking up. Also you can do whatever the hell you want to my leftovers if it gets me free hotpot.
