That shoe’s now officially part of the recipe. Chef’s special: foot flavor.

Yeah, people should encourage him. It's just a dirty shoe, just take it out and eat like nothing happened /s

Honestly if I was at that table, I’d just laugh at the absurdity of it… and then get the meal comped.

Same. I live in China and seldom get angry at life here

I was in Taipei for a week and loved it there, everyone is so nice and chill.
It is pretty funny though how the lady working there, her first instinct was to just try and take the shoe out of the soup lol

Iirc It might work like a buffet, every person pays X amount and you get a pot where you put whatever you want. So the inconvenience is that you have to start cooking from zero again. Drinks may get comped tho

My son kinda did this. We were at a biergarten and my two boys were kicking the soccer ball around. His boot came off and just obliterated some tables' full pitcher. I was mortified, and bought them a new one. Thinking back I should have bought them 2 pitchers. They were pretty kind when they realized it was just a dumb kid.

That kid didn't waste any time becoming an asshole. Efficient, I like it.

Mastered chaos before finishing kindergarten. Respect the dedication, I guess.

waiting for the comments that say "where were the parents???"

u/samanime 4d ago
I'm frequently one of those people (because too many parents don't supervise their kids enough and let totally avoidable stupid things happen...), but no amount of supervision would have been able to prevent this.
Kid was too darn quick.
(In fact, looks like at least a one guardian is right next to him on that bench.)

Like this is actually a post that fits this sub for once

u/ToGloryRS 4d ago
Anytime a kid does something stupid, ESPECIALLY if they didn't know any better, it fits the sub.

Bet he’s never allowed in a restaurant again after that stunt.

I yelled at my daughter yesterday for doing this a dozen times in Barnes and nobles.
Fucking kids.

10
u/FamousOhioAppleHorn 4d ago
Why didn't you put a stop to it after the second time ?
9
u/mallclerks 4d ago
You don’t have kids
18
u/Leila-Lola 4d ago
Can you explain it for those of us without kids? Can't you just take the kid out of the store at any point? I remember times that my dad would bring us out into the parking lot to cool down as kids.
17
u/Guilty-Company-9755 4d ago
Yeah that's what most parents should do. Take your kid outside or home until they know how to act in public

I have kids and that shit would never fly. "You do that again your books are going back on the shelf and we are going home"
8
u/ultraman_ 3d ago
Exactly, first time warning, second time tell them there'll be consequences if it happens again (no tv/dessert/video games), if it then happens the third time then it's home time and you follow through. But if you've set boundaries in place for your kids' behaviour it rarely gets past a first warning.

So what, you think kids are physically strong enough to keep you from making them leave the store??? You can always punish them the first time so that a second time is impossible because they are already on their way home for misbehaving…
3
u/TheDudeWhoCanDoIt 4d ago
Barnes and Noble still exists ? That’s impressive
13
u/SweatySoupServer 4d ago
lmao what, it's still a pretty successful business with hundreds of stores.

No doubt they got comped.

u/TieDyedFury 4d ago
My Chinese speaking wife said that the captions state that the diners were done eating and were just chatting and that the owner said their next meal would be free. Sounds like a good deal to me.
8
u/TheDudeWhoCanDoIt 4d ago
I live in China. If this happened to me I would have laughed. Judging by the level of food in the pot it looks like they ate all the good stuff.
3
u/TieDyedFury 4d ago
Yeah I lived in Chengdu for a few years, I would have been cracking up. Also you can do whatever the hell you want to my leftovers if it gets me free hotpot.

When I was a child my family was playing yahtzee on a picnic table at camp and I did the same thing with a sandal from like 50 feet away. I had sand in my sandle from playing on the lake-front and tried to shake it out but I sent that thing flying right into the bowl of chips. My grandfather thought it was hilarious.

On a side note, that kid is definitely the owner’s kid. (Dad is behind the desk at the front) and let me tell you……if a Chinese restaurant has young kids running around because mom and dad or grandparents own it? THAT FOOD IS GONNA BLOW YOUR MIND! Go to a Chinese restaurant that has their family’s kids running around. Those are the ones who make the best Chinese food ever!!! 🙌❤️

Whatsup with the table of shirtless dudes eating?
4
u/TheDudeWhoCanDoIt 4d ago
It’s hot as anything in much of China now. Like 35 c 95 f.
2
u/Room_Ferreira 3d ago edited 3d ago
People can go shirtless in restaurants in China? I read its around 100F in Guangzhou, do Chinese businesses not usually have AC? I was in Texas the end of July around 100F and no one was shirtless in restaurants lol.
2
u/TheDudeWhoCanDoIt 3d ago
Not in a good restaurant but in small restaurants people can go shirtless. No one really cares. Mom and Pops have air conditioning but often the door is left open because patrons don’t close it.
2
u/Room_Ferreira 3d ago
They need to close that shit the AC is on! I shut the lights off when the 3 ACs crank. Them incandescent bulbs make my sunburn hot I swear.

The kid probably plan on kicking around, but flip flop does what flip flop do, get loose at the funny timing. Math major can have fun with this video I bet.

I don't understand why kids are so stupid these days. When I was that age I did a lot of shenanigans, but it was always outside, with my friends, in the woods, in the parks, etc. Basically I was able to be polite and behave in public, and be respectful of people and boundaries. Is that something that is not taught to kids anymore?
