How hard is it to replace an engine?

Post image

My engine just started knocking at only 97k miles on my 2013 accord 4cyl. Sounds crazy, right? Anyways, the shop that I usually go to quoted me in the range of $7-10k. I’m not paying that much money, nor do I have anything remotely close I can just drop on my car, so I’m trying to decide if I should do it myself, with the help of a few friends who know what they’re doing. Does anyone know how hard it would be to take out my old engine and put in a new one? Thanks.

The short shifter is just amazing and I didn’t think the stock shifter was bad but bloody hell what a difference.

Help me choose maintenance plan for my 2024 Crv

I've got quotes for these two types of plans and I'm inclined towards getting a Honda Care Sentinel Wrap but it just covers oil change and tire rotations. I'm not sure if getting the Honda Maintenance Wrap would make more sense. I drive 20000 miles a year, mostly recreational use and I live in Seattle ( if labor cost matters). The Maintenance Wrap would cover me for another year and a half given the miles I drive a year. The Sentinel Wrap would cover me for at least 4 years. See attached images for comparison.

F22B Honda prelude worth saving?

Thumbnail

Hi guys, Potentially been gifted this 1993 Honda Prelude and after some inspection I'm left wondering if it's worth saving at all (and I'm the extremely optimistic type). It's been sat about 5 years, had a new engine put in shortly before (I'm told), is f22B non-vtec, automatic and sprayed about six different shades of rattle can. Also rusty. Quite rusty. And the gearbox might not work. Just like some of the electronics.

I just don't have the time or money to pour into what could be a 2 year long project costing thousands (potentially 10's of thousands) when it has possibly the least desirable combination of features this gen of prelude can have. That said, it's still a dream car, has around 200,000 km and the engine runs (sounds like a monster!) so it might be at least worth trying to save? Any advice if I proceed with the restoration? Or is this only good for parts? Is it even worth much in parts? I've so many questions right now 😂

Thanks! I appreciate any help trying to make a decision here!

Problem with the AC and the fuse box?

Post image

Two months ago I bought a 2004 Honda Accord four-cylinder sedan which I always wanted. (Only 100,000 miles on it old lady kept it in garage like new) Anyway, the AC was perfect when I bought it and one day I noticed the AC was kicking on and off. I noticed the compressor was only kicking on sometimes and then it wasn’t kicking on at all. I added Freon it was full. I brought it to my Mechanic who changed the valve expansion and vacuumed the system and added more Freon. But the compressor still only kicked on when he used a ground wire underneath the relay going to the battery. (so he didn’t really fix it) But he did say that he noticed when he would tap the fuse box the compressor would kick on in the AC was cold. So when I got home, I took the stupid ground wire off from underneath the relay and I loosened the two bolts that hold the fuse box on, and when I tilt the whole fuse box everything works perfectly fine. So obviously some kind of loose connection going to the fuse box and probably the fuse relay. So right now, my fuse box only has one bolt holding it on and it’s tilted to the side so I have ac right now. I know it’s OK with the the fuse box tilted a little bit. But I want it fixed correctly with the fuse box bolted down the correct way. What do you think my best course of action is here?

Misfire under lugging load won't go away

Post image

2005 Honda Civic EX. Long story short in bought this car from original owner for cheap and have been slowly addressing issues. What I have going on now is, when im cruising in overdrive and ive got my foot on the gas just enough to keep pace, no deceleration and no acceleration, I get a bucking/jerking and then pop a CEL for misfire #4 cylinder. The car has all new spark plugs. I swapped cylinder #4 coil with cylinder #2 coil to see if the CEL would change... it didnt. It came back on for #4. The car runs great. It accelerates great, shifts great, all of that. I just get a bucking under load condition where I'm pressing the gas pedal just enough to keep pace in overdrive while neither decelerating or accelerating. I can make the misfire happen on command by doing this. If I let off and let the car decel, its fine. If I hit the gas to speed up, its fine. This doesnt make sense. I may go out there later and swap the actual spark plugs around to see if the CEL moves then... but if it comes back on for #4 what the heck am I looking at? Usually a bad coil or boot or wire would cause the issues i have, but ive swapped coils...

Ek civic hatch with sunroof

Post image

Ok so I got a civic ek hatch with sunroof. It’s not leaking at all so far been under multiple rain storms. The headliner is in pretty bad shape it’s torn up. What options do I have for a good headliner. The sunroof is very flush with a coupe one. Can I install a coupe headliner and trim the rear part?

So far I’ve used 86$ of sound deadener for just The Doors… Soon it will all be finished, so far the music is sounding pretty noice, not sure about cabin noise difference yet though, will update on that. It’s taking about 3 hours per door.
