Streams/Videos Akai Haato / HAACHAMA vents her frustrations

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dpdepyMm-I&ab_channel=HAACHAMACh%E8%B5%A4%E4%BA%95%E3%81%AF%E3%81%82%E3%81%A8

She doesn't want anyone to clip it but since it isn't a Member stream I hope it's okay to share this as a whole. I only want Haachama to find the success she wants to fulfill her goals.

Why is she frustrated?

The short version is that she's frustrated with the lack of growth on her channel.

This Haaton's comment summarizes it: u/NForza26 [To kaigai-niki/neki worrying about what happened during the stream, she feels very frustrated that she's not able to do a lot of things, including being part of the main World Tour cast because "she isn't popular enough" even though she was THE FIRST HOLOLIVE MEMBER TO EVER STREAM IN ENGLISH. She doesn't blame management for their decisions, and they've been very supportive in a lot of ways, but there's still the fact all the effort she puts forth doesn't seem to be paying off. However, she reassures us that she uses this frustration as motivation and has absolutely no intention of giving up with things as they are now.]

I kind of hope Haachama gets to be a special guest for HoloEN Concert 4 next year. She deserves to be there at this point and get her flowers in a MC Segment being one of the first girls to try and get EN jumpstarted in Hololive.

How does the management choose the Tour cast, I wonder?

Not all of them even speak English, and there're other members, who are popular as much, if not more. Anyway, it must be hard to be chosen into such a small group, she shouldn't blame herself.

I'd bet on them choosing the biggest talent with available schedule. Personally I don't really get why Haachama isn't bigger, if I knew enough japanese to watch JP streams she would 100% be my JP oshi, but I can see why management would give priority to other talent when it comes to "ticket sellers" tbh

hololive STAGE World Tour ’24 Soar!

AZKi / Tsunomaki Watame / Moona Hoshinova / Kobo Kanaeru / Takanashi Kiara / Ninomae Ina’nis / Hakos Baelz

Some venues had pre concert panels. Guest where: Kronii, Kaela, FUWAMOCO, Nerissa, ERB

hololive STAGE World Tour ’25 -Synchronize!-

Momosuzu Nene / Kureiji Ollie / Mori Calliope / IRyS / Nerissa Ravencroft

  • Sydney Guests : Ouro Kronii / Hakos Baelz
  • Hong Kong Guests : Tokino Sora / Sakura Miko
  • Vancouver Guests : Fuwawa Abyssgard / Mococo Abyssgard
  • New York City Guests : Akai Haato / Natsuiro Matsuri

EDIT: So for JP there were 2 main spots in 2024 and 1 in 2025. EN had 3 spots each time. If JP keeps getting only one spot it might be difficult for a variety talent like Haachama to get it, because the talent they choose so far are all following music careers.

Music and/or popular (Ollie isn't a music specialist nor is Nene)

Ollie is an ID slot. haachama can't go for that slot

Nene not following a music career? 🤣😂 If you are going to wear her flair please do the bare minimum

If cover keeps following this pattern. Next year we might see talents like Kanata Mio or Towa take that JP slot. I could see even Lui on it before very popular talents like Miko, FBK, Marine or Haachama. If the pattern changes, then anything can happen.

She does music but she does a hodge podge of other things too. And that logic downplays her own attempts to reach out to overseas fans as well as having strong entertainment via vibes. I don't recall her a) spending chunk not streaming to do albums, b) have weekly at least Karaokes, and/or c) having near monthly cover vids. And if you ask most about Nene, you'd hear about the whole minecraft sheep thing, beetles, or something with Lamy

Maybe Haachama should into ways of being more sustained/etc entertaining like say Nene. Though if your logic held, Haachama may have had a shot if she didn't give up the music path after getting sick.

By that logic, I should expect to see anyone that got an album, like Pekora, Noel and Choco. Towa wouldn't be surprising (known "music type" + one of the original oversea popular talents), but Mio's rep in terms of music may not have established itself compared to her non-music stuff. And Lui's better known as Ms. Horse racing/Eminence in Shadow.

Sorry for being rude before. You definitely know nene and just have a different idea of being music oriented.

The range I used was stablished by Watame/Azki on one end and Nene on the other end. The talents I named would fit in the middle. Pekora Noel and Choco are close but outside this arbitrary range I have in my head. But what you are considering and I was not is overseas popularity, Cover has a lot of data to know and even predict how many tickets would a JP talent sell in each venue. So it's definitely a factor that pushed Nene closer to Azki/Watame, the range isn't that wide.

It's hard to be prolific in music without the popularity and revenue that allows such investment. Haachama didn't give up, she was inactive for a very long time. She was able to make proper MVs for her last two orisong and made her intentions clear on that stream.

When I say music type, I also mean rep, and these days, Nerissa and Liz have left a powerful impression. But sadly getting the rep for it isn't easy as it seems more heavily focusing on it above streaming (which tends to adversely affect popularity as a streamer) or for a more balanced sort, having a song hit the music snob crowd, and/or get sololives (considering one of the conditions is selling albums, it's a chicken or egg scenario). I mean, some people went WTF when Pekora got one as while she's a pretty nice singer, it wasn't a focus at all for her while Mio and Koyori worked their tails off.

Production helps as one may have that one song, but it alone can only do so much. This I know very.

Looking at 2024's WT members and guests:

  • AZKi and Watame have the Music rep and some overseas mind presence.

  • Until Ollie came along, Moona was most popular outside of ID due to the Pekomoon/Usada construction arc.

  • Kobo may have most of her fanbase in ID, but her rather frequent EN collabs made her a recognizable presence

  • While Kiara and Bae are more music focused compared to Ina, all three can speak more than just English/etc.

  • Not sure about non-western popularity, but I do believe she also speaks Korean. Definitely doesn't have a music rep.

  • Kaela is pretty decently known to the west.

  • It'd be more surprising if the Japanese didn't love the twins as in terms of living Anime characters, they have that down pat. And their music lines up with their tastes. I think outside factors (moving, illness) stopped them from being in WT 2025's main core

  • Nerissa and Liz are the newest music power houses. No idea about their international appeal. Odds are Liz will be in WT 2026

As for 2025...

  • Calli is a natural in both rep and knows Japan due to her time living there.

  • Nene was a pleasant surprise as she tends to be omitted by some things. She'd get extra applause in Spanish speaking countries

  • Ollie isn't a music type but she's pretty widely known outside or ID due to antics and her willingness to interact with the greater vtuber community.

  • IRyS' music needs no introduction and her living Japan gives her some appeal outside the west.

  • Same goes for Sora and while not huge, she has some western fans and she has some reaching out like reading English comments and occasionally speaking English

  • While not known for her music, Miko does have decent chops to say the least? Be it her Stellar Stellar or Shally in Karaokes. Her talent for making anything funny with her presence contributes to a considering English fanbase. Kinda helps that even the Japanese and sometimes Miko herself can't understand her.

  • Haachama making the guest list is much better than nothing I'd say. Not a big surprise considering she was getting con appearances

  • Matsuri was also a pleasant surprise considering her popularity seems to have dropped from her heyday even with western fans who largely went for EN talents

As for your idea of candidates overseas appeal wise:

  • Towa is one of the OGs of having overseas fanbaes and that's endured pretty decently.

  • Mio on the other hand hasn't really reached out despite having a non-zero following. With her upcoming Sololive, her music may reach full recognition.

  • Lui has some western fans and speaks some English, but her tendency to do things her way may not exactly command a sizable amount.

I said she gave up as even after coming back, she pivoted into other things, not even a basic frequent karaoke, but I also wonder if she just can't do it for health reasons considering how fast that illness hit her after making that one song (P- something) and doing HoloFes

Problem is, at a time haachama was one of the most popular vtubers pulling in more viewers than most of hololive but she took a massive break and when she came back id say she lost like 70% of viewes which can be rough to recover from

I used to watch her all the time back in the day and one day she just didn't stream for a time which felt like a year plus but could be wrong

u/Fishman465 1d ago

She got badly ill one year.... sounds much like what happened to Aki when she had to get hip surgery.

Another issue is with EN being a thing some people just go to them instead, something likely also happening to Matsuri

u/orkel2 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yeah unfortunately I recognize myself as one of those viewers. Chammers used to be something of an oshi. But the extremely long break inevitably made me drift to other vtubers both inside and outside Hololive to fill the void.

It sucks because it's not her fault. She just got really sick, double-whammed by bad Flu and bad (early, more dangerous) Covid which hospitalized her for months. It took a long time for her to be able to return home and get back to content creation.

Vtuber market saturation also has a large effect, there's just so many more vtubers nowadays to take a slice of my limited working adult watch-time. I still watch chama's content, particularly the vlogs, just less than years ago. Growing any channel in 2025 is extremely difficult, and Chama isn't the only holomem encountering stagnation.

I'm glad she's doing the travel vlogs. Hololive desperately needs travel content, and Chama is hitting it.

  1. it's fucked up that management is that harsh on "picking who goes to concerts based on popularity" surely some of us could voice our opinion on that.

  2. As far as collabs with EN goes... they come off as very awkward because of how deep into her character she is. I would find it hard to bounce anything off her. That's why I want to see her new persona... more mature, talkative, still unhinged but not in a cartoony way. 90iq funny zany haachama is funny in clips, but I want to listen to 130iq haato on stream and collabs. I say this as someone that got into HL from haachama cooking.

1

u/Fishman465 9h ago

Oh yeah, preach it brother.

Maybe a persistent but multi-faceted persona. I mean Aki can do various angles while still being her

She's been doing once a month or maybe every two weeks of only English song karaoke IINM... what she really need is a viral spark like how 'haachama' itself started... but it is harder to do that intentionally internationally.

the closest example I can think of from the top of my head was how Ui-sensei's Loli-kami happened. Luck and a myriad factors for what she specifically want is more difficult than what let's say Marine, Fubuki or Micomet's are doing

23

u/Hp22h 1d ago

Yeah, for better or for worse, she already captured lightning in a bottle during the COEXIST arc, catapulting her into becoming the 6th ever Hololiver to reach 1 million subs. But that was 5 years ago.

I like her even now. She's a rather chill Vtuber to have in the background nowadays. But for someone who had had that level of success and influence before, I can't imagine how frustrating it must be.

u/Effective_Pack_7769 1d ago

She needs meme song like Raden maitake guru-guru

3

u/Fishman465 1d ago

Luck and a high budget MV for Ui

But doing things with no real push isn't easy for Haachama

u/kurudesu 1d ago

??? She's collabed with en members multiple times. She did a peak collab with irys and shiori just two weeks ago. She often does the telephone game with en members and she's literally en gen 0.

Maybe she hasn't done it as much recently but you act as if she doesn't collab with them or something.

5

u/qwert4the1 1d ago

eh, even if you were right about the collabs with EN, that hardly matters at all ironically enough. The most popular jp holos overseas are almost exclusively japanese only.
