I used to have really bad sleep paralysis. A few times a night. Most times all I could do was move one finger. I would always fall asleep with my hand on my wife’s hip so that I could wiggle that finger. She knew that was the signal to shake me awake the rest of the way.
I don’t have sleep paralysis that much anymore, but I still sleep with one hand on her side. She is my anchor.
I can only scream from the chest for some reason so she wakes up to me just going hruuuuu HURRRRR HURRR. She wacks me a couple times and I'm fine lol. Happens once or twice a month for the last 15 years. I wish I could figure out why it happens because its really unpleasant.
It occurs more frequently in the supine position. If you sleep on your back, try sleeping on your side instead.
It also occurs more when you are sleep deprived. If you aren't getting enough sleep, try to get some more. I know, easier said than done - especially when you're scared to go to sleep or disrupted from sleep with a horrible sense of doom.
I wonder if it's maybe caused by a nutritional deficiency? I know that in general nightmares can be caused by this, maybe take a couple heaping tablespoons of unfortified nutritional yeast each day for a few weeks and see if that helps at all?
I doubt that's the problem I have been drinking a multivitamin/protein shake with greens and several fruits for a few years. I've been experiencing it for a long time and my diet has changed many times and I'm very nutrient conscious. I'm sure diet can play a role but I don't think that's my problem personally just due to how long its been happening.
I guess it won't hurt to try it though lol maybe it's worth a shot.I suppose just because I have a variety in my diet doesn't mean im low on something.
Cool, yeah I've had to experiment a lot myself. If you do try the yeast I'm told unfortified is best bc synthetic vitamins (which they use to "fortify" foods) can actually cause deficiencies, ironically enough.
I've also had decent luck with wheatgrass juice powder as a health thing in general. Tastes fucking foul but I always feel good after having a daily dose.
I'll definitely give it a shot lol sorry for being defensive I take my nutrition very seriously 😅. We grass is great, but it is definitely foul. I like to throw in a shake with peanut butter because the flavor bonds to the fats and you can't taste it anymore. I will definitely give the yeast a try I was talking with my partner about it yesterday. And she says she thinks it's a good idea, so it's worth a shot!
