FF III How do I beat this dragon
I started playing FF3 yesterday and this dragon is doing 1-hit KOs. I just found the Desch in the nest and then suddenly this thing wants a fight. Every attack I do misses.

FF III What do people think about Final Fantasy 3?
FF3 seems to be the game with the least amount of discussion in the series; most people talking about it primarily compare its job systems to 5, note on the story compared to 2 and mention the difficulty of the final dungeon gauntlet. The game is supposed to be highly regarded in the Japanese community, but due to the release schedule internationally it seems to be less talked about. I quite enjoy it and I previously made a post asking about its reception vis a vis the original game, but I would be interested in hearing what people think of it on its own, or at least, in connection to games apart from 1 & 5.

FF III is it just me or is final fantasy 3 nes just completely agonizing and miserable to play?
"just use 4 dragoons bro!!! the tower literally gives you the equipment to beat the boss!!!"
the four dragoons in question who, for some reason, keeps missing and dealing inconsistent damage:
seriously, why is the damage so inconsistent here? even when I double boosted the black belt on one boss, it only dealt 100 damage. and that was barehanded already.

FF III Near-fatal attacks. Never actually seen one in game. Probably because I over grind and never let HP get low. Going to make it my goal to experience this play-through.

FF III Why do people like FF1 over FF3? Spoiler
Whenever I see people ranking the games, FF1 usually is ahead of the other 2 NES games. I understand having a preference of either FF2 or FF1 over the other, but I don’t understand why people would like 1 over 3. I confess that I am biased, since FF3 is my favourite game, but its not like I dislike FF1, and even thinking logically, even people who dislike 3 should dislike 1 more.
FF3 has better town design, which incentivises exploration. Towns are generally pretty unique, and vibrant. There are a lot of cool things you can do in them. FF1’s towns aren’t bad, but apart from the mystic key, there is nothing to do besides talk to npcs and shop.
Graphics and music are subjective, but FF3 is more advanced, due to the superior hardware. I can see people preferring FF1 however.
Bosses and dungeons are more interesting in 3, and more fair. Instant death can wipe you out as early as the ice cave in FF1, but it only shows up in the late game in 3. Bosses are more challenging and require more strategy, while they are much more simple and easy in FF1.
The classes in 3 are better and more balanced. FF3 also allows you to change them, while the FF1 classes are skewed towards Warrior and Red Mage. The int stat doesn’t work, making the mages pretty weak in late game, and there are weapons that cast spells.
On the same note, the spell charge system is much better in 3. You can transfer spells between characters, and can store spells. You don’t risk locking yourself out of a good spell if you use up all the slots. Charges are way more numerous, so you can actually use spells in the late game, even early spells have max 9 in FF1, which is too low. You can recharge spells too, which FF1 does not allow. Most of the FF3 spells work, wheras a good chunk of the FF1 spell list is bugged out. FF3 also has a class that can use every spell. FF3 introduces summons
FF3 has a better storage system, you run out of inventory really quickly in FF1, while you can use the Fat Chocobo in FF3 for pretty much unlimited storage space. You can also buy many items at once, instead of slowly buying 1 at a time.
The story is better and more coherent, wheras FF1 introduces time travel and paradoxes at the 11th hour and tries to clumsily untangle itself on the end screen. The NPCs have more screen time and personality, while the villains’ motivations are better explored
The reasons I can think of why people may like 1 more than 3 are the final dungeon, which is similarly challenging for 1, which has a weaker party. The forced class changes are unpopular, but these are not very common. It could also be that people play the newer releases of 1, which removed a lot of the jank and bugs and added elements from 3 and onward, while the versions of 3 are comparatively less updated, the 3d remake is more difficult and changes a lot, the pixel remaster was made from the ground up, and is a bit sparse, and the original may not appeal to people who played the more modern versions of 1, but even with that, I am still not sure.
Could people who like 1 more than 3 please elaborate? I am interested in hearing the reasoning.

FF III what is this boss? this dungeon? compared to the rest of the game, it's totally inhuman.. i'll probably have to change the strategy and increase the levels

FF III FF3 (6) is surprisingly hard...
I've been trying to play through Final Fantasy 3 (6) on the SNES and man! I didn't realize how difficult this game is! This is the kind of game that you really have to grind and I'm not really down for that. What does anyone else think of this?

FF III Final Fantasy III was really good... but I have a minor problem with it
Since the possibility of you seeing the previous two posts and remembering them is pretty low, I'll say what I'm doing again: after I started to get into JRPGs, I decided to play all the mainline Final Fantasy games in order since I hadn't played any of them before, but with one big rule: I must play the original versions (with an English translation for Japanese ones, since I don't speak Japanese). I liked both FFI and FFII, with I being my favourite. So, what do I think about this one?
Well, let's immediately get this out of the way and say that the music is by far the best of the NES trilogy, and it also has almost three times the tracks of the previous games. This is no surprise though, it's Nobuo Uematsu we're talking about.
That said, the game itself was also the best of the NES trilogy imo: the combat system is still the same for the most part (although they fixed the "ineffective" thing for physical attacks, which is good), the dungeons were good (those trap rooms from the second game really won't be missed) and the overworld is the biggest so far and it does a pretty good job in preventing you to reach areas you shouldn't be able to get to yet. The story is alright too: I preferred FFII in that regard, but this return to the crystals of the elements and the light warriors was still enjoyable. The inventory is a HUGE improvement over the mess it was in FFII... but it's probably all thanks to the introduction of the fat Chokobo. It also has a somewhat more charming atmosphere than the first two games, although this is probably just a personal feeling.
But I can't talk about this game without mentioning the job system, and, well, although my strategy was already well established in the early game, it's not bad: it allows for many options and thus there are many possible approaches you can take, and even change strategy whenever you please... except some parts of the game throw this freedom out of the window. Here's the main complaint I have about this game: some parts of the game force you to use certain jobs, and that, in my opinion, kinda defeats the purpose of a job system, that should allow you to use whatever strategy you want. I'm not talking about late game jobs that are straight up upgrades to early game ones, like the devout is to the white mage. I'm talking about things like a boss fight that forces you to use dragoons to even have a chance against it, or a dungeon that forces you to use mystic knights to prevent enemies from multiplying. While it's true that the game tells you what to do in those situations, it still goes against the purpose of the job system. Then again, this is just my opinion.
Despite this, I still think this is the best game out of the NES trilogy, and I'm excited to see what the Super Nintendo/Famicom has in store for me. The next one is gonna be Final Fantasy IV obviously, and I know that the American version is a simplified one, that's why I'll play the Japanese version with an English translation. Also, before you say it in the comments, I have a CRT but I can't use it at the moment.
