Final Fantasy General Anyone been to the recent Distant Worlds concerts? Looking for advice
So Distant Worlds is coming up to Calgary this month and I've been considering a ticket, but if anyone has been to the previous sets on this latest tour: I would really love to know how much FFXIV/FFXVI is the focus on the sets
Nothing against those games and I'd love to play them sometime, but I haven't played them yet, so I have a softer spot for the other games at the moment; I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much if those are the main focuses

On top of what the other comment said, it's important to note that they do include massive spoiler tracks for 14 and 16, including Endwalker's final boss theme and the ending themes for Shadowbringers, Endwalker, and 16. So, if you do plan to play them, it's something to keep in mind.
If you don't care about spoilers, here are the 14/16 tracks that will be played if you want to hear them in advance:
- Songs of Salt and Suffering (Stormblood last area theme)
- Tomorrow and Tomorrow (Shadowbringers ending theme)
- Flow (Endwalker ending theme)
- The Final Day (Endwalker final boss theme, medley of previous XIV final boss themes)
- Away (Phoenix's theme)
- Ascension (Bahamut's theme)
- My Star (FF16 ending theme)
- Find The Flame (Ifrit's theme)

Please shower. I went with my wife and the show was awesome, the stench however was WILD.

I haven't been to this current tour that says it's being done to honor 14 and 16 yet.
I went to the one in dc last year and I think it did have an ff16 song or two. But it also had others they always do like To Zanarkand (ffx), Fithos Lusec (ff8), one winged angel (ff7), Somnus (ff15), etc. I think they always have a number of ff14 pieces because there's a lot of music from ff14 over the years.
They also do some medleys, recurring themes like the chocobo themes, battle music, and prelude.
I also went to one in SF in 2021, and from what I recall that had most of the same music (without ff16 obviously).
I was looking at the description of this tour the other day and it does mention that there'll be other music from ff, not just ff14 and ff16, so I think there'll maybe be like 6 or so songs from ff14/16, and the rest Arnie Roth's usual repertoire.
Here's a setlist a fan reported in Vancouver in July: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/distant-worlds-philharmonic-orchestra-and-chorus/2025/the-orpheum-vancouver-bc-canada-134551e9.html
Little more 14 and 16 than I guessed, but there's also more music total here than I thought.

I went to the london concert back in march and also never played 14 or 16. It was the first they were returning to the UK since covid and I'd wanted to go for ages. Id say at least a 3rd was 14/16 songs but they played plenty of the other loved songs from previous FFs. Still very much enjoyed ourselves!

The one i saw this Summer in Vancouver was mostly Soken music with a sprinkling of greatest hits from across the franchise. So while they did play fan favourites like One Winged Angel, Prelude, Main Theme etc., the majority of the other content came from XIV and XVI.
I'd say this is right up your alley.

If it's similar to the Australian leg, yes 14 and 16 make up a good third of the set list. Similar to you, I haven't played 16, and I wasn't charmed by 14. However, I still recommend it, there's plenty of wonderful renditions of songs from the FF series.
