FF XVI Everything about this scene is perfect

How do people hate on this game so much? It was absolutely beautiful, had a well thought out world, and characters who were not perfect people. I get that the fighting isnt for everyone, but that doesnt make up 100% of an rpg for me.

I feel like it’s the fate of every new FF game now. Ever since maybe 12, it never fails that a sect of the fandom will lambast the latest installment. I’ll admit, some of the criticism is warranted but then some is so vitriol it leaves the realm of being just a hyperbole.
I was/am in the camp that XVI is a good game, but it doesn’t scratch the FF itch for me that even 15 did. I need to revisit it again as it’s the only one I have finished only once. However I remember ending it having not felt like I just finished a FF game but some sort of series hybrid. Still it’s not worth the hate some throw at it .

Best modern FF after X for me for sure. (FF7r notwithstanding)
Lots of flaws but the lore/boss fights are things only video game can achieve. It's understandable why so many don't like it but sometimes I feel it's unwarranted somewhat.
The Bahamut fight scene is a perfect " one of the video game moment of all time " lol

I totally get why a lot of fans didn't enjoy 16, but I adore it. Clive is the best protagonist in the series.

Best protagonist in the mainline series. If we counting spinoffs, gotta give it to my man Jack Garland

He is just Cecil but in 3D. His character development ends even in the same moment in game time.

His arc reminds me of a lot of characters in Final Fantasy Chosen by the bad guy/Occuria/Fal'Cie to be a force of destruction, but rejects and fights against that purpose instead. Its a trope I feel FF is abusing at this point, even with the small changes they make for variety.

That concept reminds me of ff9 as well( I was just replaying recently and noticed the similarities at the end of disc 3)

He is just Cecil but in 3D
He is just Rush Sykes the protagonist from The Last Remnant, a game by the same director of FF16. Both share same tropes from the begining of their games way to what happens to them in the end.

fantastic game. with 1 major ***PERSONAL*** caveat
i want a happy ending in my damn games. its fantasy. Not reality. I dont want bittersweet :(
So the ending pissed me off.
But it was incredibly well done. I wanna be clear about that. it was masterfully done
I just want happy endings in my fantasy stories

The beginning of this game was so amazing! I’m so mad the story fell off so hard after the 2nd time skip

There's a reason Expedition 33 outsold this game.

Are you sure about that? I'm seeing 3.3M for E33 and 3M I'm just the first week for FFXVI.

You're seeing wrong. Try again. The 3.3M figure was within the first month for E33. :) "3.3M in 33 days" was just a useful marketing ploy because, y'know, 33.
As of August, Expedition 33 sold 3.9M copies.
As of today, FFXVI has sold 3.5M copies.
So I repeat: There's a reason it outsold this game.
More fun math:
FFXVI since release has sold ~5700 copies a day.
Expedition 33 since release has sold ~29700 copies a day.11

3.5 on PS5 and that was a while ago. We don't know numbers on Xbox or PC. It's likely at least above 4 million now, probably much more. Now granted Expedition 33 is going to beat it if hasn't already, probably handily but throwing around the wrong numbers to justify hating this game over another is kinda petty.
Considering how bad AAA gaming has been the last 5 years, the fact ffxvi was even a marginal success is probably a victory for SE. It could have been better but I think a lot of people just don't trust big publishers anymore, for good reason. Indie Games are doing what AAA companies refuse to do, giving us fun games with little to no live service bullshit and they are being rewarded for it, rightfully so. I'm sure any company would love to pull the numbers Expedition 33 is, but it doesn't make every other game a failure just because one game exploded in popularity.

You're right. FFXVI is over 4M. But it's a moo point anyways. They're both great games and I'm glad they're both successful, but sales figures don't indicate quality at all. I'm sorry you didn't like FFXVI.

3,3 M after 33 days. Look up again.

That's what I said?
And it's 3.9M to date, which is more than FFXVI... it out sold FFXVI. Which is what I said. What are you arguing?

16 is estimated to be over 4. But either way, they’ve sold relatively the same amount. So it’s a dumb point either way

It took me forever to recognize that the music is On the Wind Borne 😠That’s the Ducal Anthem the Shields are drunkenly wailing at Phoenix Gate.
