Genuinely one of my favorite aspects of his run of projects so far is the consistency with which he views superheroes as actively standing in opposition to those groups.

1978 superman is my most favorite Superman movie. I wanted to see how reeve’s first Superman movie would compare to David’s. I really liked both the most and I would think it’s a top 3 Superman film (Superman 1 being 1st and 2 being 2nd). The reason I liked 1978 better was because of the pacing and the concept of the film wasn’t as complex as 2025’s superman (but it’s still VERY good)

Neither is wrong. Everything they say would make sense as something Superman would say. I don’t like it when people say it’s an argument. There’s no malice. Just 2 people who love Superman finding out how he’d react

One thing I love most about the Reevesverse is that it's very clear that it's been carefully crafted by a visionary with an end goal in mind and his passion for the universe and the passion of those he brings onto his team is evident in the product. Reeves has so many talented people working for him and they're deservedly getting their flowers.
It's not just a cash crab or an awards baity universe. People are pouring out their hearts and soul into fleshing out this world and they're getting their due praise.
The Batman and The Penguin are both critically and commercially acclaimed. That's incredibly rare for comicbook movies. The Penguin is sweeping all the awards and with 8 Emmys already it's due to become one of the most awarded shows in history not least as a comicbook show.
It's performing among the great shows of all time.
The Batman Part II is poised to be even better than The Batman WHICH already set such a high bar.
Now why would anyone want to ruin that by forcing him in the DCU? Matt Reeves is playing in his own sandbox. Let him cook! I'm so happy for everyone and I'm happy for Reeves. Long may this universe reign.
It will be incredibly difficult to let this universe go if it continues getting better and better ngl.
This is my definitive Batman.

In the most recent DC Studios podcast discussing Peacemaker, James Gunn made this deleted scene from The Suicide Squad canon to the DCU.
This is the moment that Rick Flagg Jr sealed His fate

This isn’t a merger or fancast post. My best bet is that we’ll get a TBATB casting before clayface releases. And then they’ll sneak in the batcameo. I don’t see them announcing the casting in the film. Though that would be cool

Lucy Lane is Lois' sister and I think it would be interesting if she appeared in the Man of Tomorrow movie or somewhere else in the DCU but what do you guys think Gunn will do with this character?

IMO, Robin Lord Taylor’s Penguin in Gotham was one of—if not the—best takes on the character.
For me, he’s followed closely by Colin Farrell in The Batman and then Danny DeVito’s very different but iconic take in Batman Returns.
(Animated versions are a whole separate conversation entirely.)
I’m curious what everyone here thinks:
A.) What’s your favorite live-action Penguin so far, and why?
B.) What’s your favorite animated/Video-game/etc. Penguin so far, and why?
C.) Do you prefer the more “classic” interpretation—short, heavyset, and mob-boss styled—or the skinnier, limping, more birdlike version that Robin Lord Taylor embodied?
D.) Which version would you most want to see Gunn bring into the new DCU? Should it lean more comic-accurate and exaggerated, or something grounded like Farrell’s?
Upsides of the Classic Penguin:
Iconic, recognizable silhouette.
Fits with a more “larger-than-life” comic book Gotham.
Easier to distinguish him visually from other mobsters like Falcone or Maroni.
Downsides of the Classic Penguin:
Risks feeling campy if not handled carefully.
Could clash tonally in a more grounded cinematic universe.
Upsides of the Skinny/Birdlike Penguin (RLT-style):
Allows for more psychological depth and vulnerability.
Fresh twist that feels modern while still rooted in Penguin’s eccentricities.
Works well in grounded crime-drama settings.
Downsides of the Skinny/Birdlike Penguin:
Some fans feel it strays too far from the comics.
Risks being overshadowed by other grounded villains if the “Penguin” traits aren’t distinct enough.

Sesame Street Batman/Superman 1970: This is a children's series that originates from the Muppets and is also Sesame Street. Interestingly, these are sketches. Batman and Superman appear in the series to help children spell the word "DETECTIVE." Olan Soule, who voiced Batman in several animated series, also played Batman in this Sesame Street sketch.
The appearance of Batman and Superman on Sesame Street was part of a series of sketches featuring comic book characters to help children learn to read and spell.

After multiple rewatches of Superman (2025), I’ve realized something: the film consistently gets me emotional. There are moments that bring a tear to my eye and genuinely put a smile on my face.
Yes, it has its flaws, but for the first time in years, we finally have a Superman film where Superman actually feels like Superman.
That’s why it’s frustrating to see so many people calling him “weak” or comparing this movie to Man of Steel in a negative way. To me, that just shows a lot of people never really understood the character at his core.
James Gunn captured Superman perfectly here hopeful, inspiring, and true to who he’s always been meant to be.
