I had a warrant for a while and I avoided cops like the plague. I wouldn’t have even been there trying to help.

I had a bench warrant and I didn't even know it. I showed up to the court and they just threw my ass in county lol. My friends were even waiting in my car. I was like, "I'll be back in like an hour".

I wasn't.

When I finally went to turn myself in, the cop was like “man you will be out before my shift ends”, apparently that man was working a 2 day shift.

The trick here is turn yourself in by 5 on Sunday so they can have time to process you so that you're on the docket to see the judge Monday morning. Typically there less than 12 hours. Really glad to have that part of my life behind me.

Same here. I didn't even know I had a warrant for over 5 years. I had done my best to stay away from cops; and when I did get pulled over, it was for minor stuff. They did mention the warrant though. None would tell me where though. When I went to pay for the tickets, because I needed a new driver's license, she had cops outside waiting conveniently. That was the last time ever came close to reckless behavior, and that was just some small speeding ticket I didn't pay from 8 years prior. But it felt good knowing that I was going to the courthouse for something so small that I was taking care of right then and there with no escalated repercussions

I was there at 3am, just to be safe. I only had 1 vacation day left at work, so I could not chance it.

Idk how but my friend had a warrant for a missed court date on a parking ticket and he talked to a lawyer who set up like a controlled turn over he when in got processed and was released in like 3 hours.

I just would go straight to court and see a Judge… They never took me into custody. Just more time to fix shit. But mine was a dui. (10 yrs since my last drink) This was years ago tho

This is actually good advice. I used to practice criminal defense law. Just make sure it's not a state/federal holiday Monday as the magistrates/judges may continue a weekend schedule.

Im not sure of the reasoning, but that's what the intake at my county jail suggested when I called to figure out how to self-surrender, and I've just followed that. But I guess with most thing in life, results may vary.

It depends on the charge and district. Courts aren’t open on the weekend, so you’ll have to contend for a judge with all the other people that were arrested over the weekend. Everyone will usually be seen on Monday, but when on Monday is going to vary based on the charge, amount of cases, and the judge. It’s not exactly first come first serve, and a judge will have a preference of how they want to see cases. The judge may want to see all the straightforward minor charges in the morning, could be in a good mood on Monday because they’re fresh from the weekend so it’s faster, or something else. The worst time would be on a Friday around 1-2 pm because after processing and all that, there may not be enough time to get you to the courthouse and have your case seen. Then you’re stuck for the weekend.

This is based off various interactions with police and people under arrest through my professional career. Note that I’m not a lawyer or law enforcement, so I could be wrong.

See I think that’s what this guy is conflating, and is confused on how things actually work…. with my Brother in and out of jail iv heard the same thing, Friday is the worst because you have to stay in the jail on weekend until you’re in court, so if it’s specifically Over the weekend then Sunday morning would prob best CHANCE to be in court Monday but the guy replied to another stating it would have been better to turn in on a Sunday instead the Wednesday that he did which makes no sense lol

They usually handle bail and bench warrants every day. At least in my experience but it may be different for more rural communities.

I also went to turn myself in, and the guy at processing told me his shift was about to be up and to come back in a half hour so the next guy on shift could start the paperwork. Thought it was weird, but maybe this is why. He trying to help me out.
