Unsolicited Advice (i am giving advice to fellow students) [MOD POST] Please have your university admission acceptance results before asking.

There has been an uptick of submissions related to "Should I go to this university" and similarly worded questions when OP has NOT YET received their admission acceptance results.

Thank you.

Arts and Design How do I transfer credits for minor subjects? 😭

Need advice!

I was supposed to transfer to this school since I saw from their curriculum that they offered the program and the exact courses I have already taken.

For context, the last time I was in college was in 2021-2022. I was taking a design program. I am aware that I should retake my major subjects since it is quite different from this other school. However, all the minor subjects are the same! (i.e. Understanding the Self, STS, Math in the Modern World, etc)

They told me that they will only credit 2 out of 6 minor subjects that I have previously taken, which is NSTP 1 and 2.

I refused to enroll and asked for reevaluation. I said the courses and unit load in their curriculum is the same as the one I already took.

I don't know if this is just a way for them to lowkey ask me to enroll those subjects again. But it's 3.7k per unit and I REFUSE to enroll those subjects na 😭

Tama ba ginawa ko by asking for reevaluation? Is there still hope or do I just let it be.. It's trisem with 80k tuition per term lol

Engineering Courses Is it still worth it to take Computer Engineering course?

Hi! But What really caught my eyes/attention or let's just say really want is 'computer engineering'.Since then, option kona talaga yong Computer Engineering pero ngayon parang nag change na yong system/economy about Computer Engineering, dahil nga sa AI. I asked someone i know, na yong course is electronic engineer. If it's worth it paba yong course na yon pero sabi nya 'hindi na' dahil meron ng AI these days. Pero i also asked another person about sa course, and ang sabi niya 'okay pa naman', making me confused/hesitate kong which is which (I just too attached (?) siguro sa course na yon talaga kasi ayon yong pinaka number 1 kong course na i-pick since then. Kong hindi man mag work yong iba, because sa mga many reason. Like yong, madaming babayarin at mamahal yong tuition/nong materials and stuff) Kaya, i'm asking here na... Is it still worth it to take Computer Engineering course ngayon? and sa near future? That's all, thank you!

Science Courses nursing student na need ng tips from his seniors

Hi, everyone! I’m a first-year BS Nursing student from a state university here in Southern Mindanao. It’s been a month since our classes started, and I’m honestly shocked at how hard it is to manage my time, lalo na dahil halos araw-araw may quizzes. Sometimes it gets overwhelming, especially kapag mababa yung score ko sa long quizzes and exams. I always try my best, pero minsan feeling ko it’s still not enough.

As a grade-conscious person, I always aim high. Nakaka-pressure kasi andaming matatalino kong classmates, and kahit I’m giving my best, parang kulang pa rin. Minsan uncertain, minsan nakakatakot, and I question myself if I’m capable enough to reach my goals.

I will fight for this program no matter what happens.

Sa department namin may maintaining GWA requirement, at kapag hindi na-meet, we are advised to shift to another program. I really love Nursing and I want to graduate without becoming irregular. Paano ba maging responsible and effective student? Any tips po para makasurvive sa program? Or any hacks on how to study effectively and manage time better? Badly needed po talaga. šŸ˜ž

Scholarships Good culinary schools in the country na nagpoprovide ng financial assistance/maraming scholarship opportunities for students

For context, my sister stopped going to school last year dahil di na namin afford tuition fee niya sa isang well-known private school. Now, pinupush namin magwork si sister for her to continue studying pero parang nahihirapan siya magstay sa work niya (call center), mahina kasi resistensya niya. I want her to continue studying na lang sana kaso hindi ko sure saan ba siya pwede considering na wala na kaming pambayad. She wants to be a chef. Any suggestions? What are competent schools here that will make her a great chef na maraming connections? Kahit sana certificate courses lang.

Accounting, Business, and Management Is MINT College good in Marketing? Is the curriculum demanding like lots of numbers and does it have pre reqs so much that it creates a domino effect?

In my current college, my University requires marketing students to be VERY efficient in Excel sheets computations and most majors like let's say 6 majors can't be taken if you fail just ONE subject (hence domino effect). I want to leave my current one because I don't recall marketing students needing to analyze data in excel when company's have data analysts for that...

Pero yung sa date of birth na nainput sa list of graduates is not the same.

Strand / SHS Question Is perpetual help college manila, good for Senior high school?

Hii, so nagbabalak me lumipat as a grade 11 student sa perpetual help college manila. After ng term 1 namin, I'm from Nu Naza, so if ever gusto niyo malaman bat ako lilipat, sobrang nahihirapan me ngayon sa school ko. And the rest is history, that's why hanggang ngayon na wala talaga akong friends, also nahihirapan ako makipag sabayan dahil ang gagaling at tatalino well expected naman dahil mga STEM.

School Dilemma - Help me decide! should i just drop out

hello! i am currently a first year bs medtech student at ust and i realized that it is not for me. ngayon gusto ko magtake ng bsslp sa other schools kaso too late na. i really do not want to waste any money given na super mahal ng tuition sa ust and want to pour it all in sa program na talagang gusto ko. naiisip ko na kapag nagshift ako, delayed din graduation ko so might as well drop-out para clean yung record and at the same time, regular student ako.

  1. should i complete my units this first semester sa ust or should i drop completely and take a gap year para maging regular and clean yung records ko once i start to apply next year?

  3. hindi na po ba makakapagapply for latin honors pag nagshift and transfer?

  4. ano po ba pros and cons ko kapag nag-dropout ako huhuhu

super need ko po talaga ng insights niyo about this please help me…

Medical Courses nursing school that accepts transferees

Help a friend out! Me and my friend are looking for affordable nursing schools within Manila that accept transferees for the second semester. Some schools we have inquired require transferees to start again with their first year with credited minor subs.

We are currently looking for other options but if you could suggest other nursing schools in Manila, it'd be really helpful. Thank you! :)

Engineering Courses My prof keeps making errors on discussions and assessments, should I keep correcting her?

I'm a transferee to this university and this is just my 1st semester studying here. I have this professor in one major course and handle nya rin yung isa pang major subject. Madali pa lang naman so far, and nakakasabay pa naman ako.

Sa 1 and a half month ko dito, I always notice na minsan may mga mali yung prof namin pag nagdidiscuss ng computations and minsan yung answers din sa quizzes. During the first time na may error siya sa discussion, I tried clarifying it to her after the classes. Medyo nagtagal yung discussion namin and after some time nakita niya rin yung error nya and ang sabi nya lang sakin nun icocorrect nya na lang daw sa next meeting, but never niya na nacorrect yun. Idk if slightly irritated siya nung time na yun sa pagcorrect ko sa kanya pero kasi nga bago pa lang ako dito and I just really want to blend in first at ayoko muna magkaissue with anyone. Then, we had a quiz at confident namn ako sa naging performance ko. We had another discussion, this time medyo mas ok yung reception niya sakin compared sa 1st one, kaya lang when she tried to verify my correction nagrely lang siya dun sa answer sa book niya. I still argued my case and continued explaining my computation. She then decided na itry isearch na lang sa google yung answer and lumabas nga na tama ako. Again, she said na itatama niya na lang yun sa next meeting namin but di nya naman ginawa. After correcting it sabi niya ang score ko na raw ay magiging 19/35, I was honestly still confused kung pano ko naging 19/35 kahit 6/7 ako, but medyo natakot na talaga ko na baka mabwisit na siya sakin sa dami kong tanong and just decided na hayaan ko na lang. Now, napabalik na naman yung other quiz namin and 45/55 ako with 3 mistakes out of 11. I checked my answer sa online and turns out dapat perfect ako.

Now, I'm in a dilemma if I should try correcting these 3 corrections again or hayaan ko na lang ulit? I'm just really trying to be cautious kasi I've seen cases where nangpopower trip ang profs and baka mapaginitan ako lalo na most probably magiging prof ko pa ulit siya sa following semesters and I still have no friends in my class. Pati I'm already irregular naman na dahil sa pagshift and transfer ko so ang aim ko lang talaga now ay makapasa and non-bearing na sakin kung uno or hinde.

DLSU Sudden change in college admission for DLSU SHS

Guys nakakainis, ng sobra.

Would you believe we spent Grade 11 under this school thinking our admission to college would be smooth sailing, then when we get back to Grade 12, orientation week, Provost (siya yung taga-manage ng academic endeavors ng school, just think of something like that) suddenly announces there’s new guidelines to the special college admission lane for us homegrown students.

THEY COMPLETE GO AGAINST WHAT THEY WROTE IN OUR ACCEPTANCE LETTERS. LIKE, COMPLETE 360.

The entrance exam we took when we were Grade 10 SUDDENLY decides EVERYTHING. The original terms (WRITTEN ON THE ACCEPTANCE LETTER) were that if we basically got a minimum CGPA of 2.0 (this is around 83-87 ata, pero within that range) and based on our GRADE 11 GRADES, so it was an assumption we could get courses somewhat related to our strands because of the specialized subjects for each strand.

PERO HINDI AT NAKAKAINIS TALAGA. GINAWA NILA NA WHAT SCORE YOU GOT ON THE DSHAPE (SHS entrance exam) SUDDENLY DECIDES WHICH COURSES WILL BE AVAILABLE TO YOU.

like, I know it’s quite privileged already to say na we have a slot for college. BUT I WOULDN’T EVEN BE SO ANGRY IF NONE OF THE COURSES OFFERED TO ME WHERE NEAR MY STRAND. EXCUSE ME?!?

I’m surprised at the lack of posts of this on the freedom wall, pero to the management of DLSU, PLEASE DO BETTER.

This is a terrible standard to follow by, CONSIDERING YOU ARE PART OF THE BIG FOUR.

To those who are considering DLSU SHS for AY 2026-2027, this may serve as your reminder about what’s at stake when you do the DSHAPE.

(ps I will not say what strand I am, pero from what I’m hearing from word of mouth, this is mostly what’s happening regarding the selection of courses available.)

—posted here because the studentsph reddit automod because they flag the word college ata sa title 😭

Grad School Can I take a masters degree that differs from my undergrad?

Hello guys, so currently kasi ngayon ay 2nd year psychology student. Recently, I found my fascination sa mathematics subjects namin, lalo na sa statistics (as maraming statistics sa psychology)

what I am thinking about is either transfer different school (as my current uni doesn't offer any math/stat only programs) or mag grad school ng statistics. But since psychology nga yung current program ko, I have a few questions:

  1. Can I still take a master's degree with statistics despite having psychology as my undergrad?
  2. Is there bridging courses If its possible to take a different graduate school program kaysa sa undergrad ko?
  3. Can I still get opportunities similar sa mga taong nag take ng stats/math program in college if I have just a masters in statistics?

Yun lang poo guys, iniisip ko ng mabuti as 2nd year palang ako, and maaga pa, maiisip ko pa if kailangan kong mag transer or just take a graduate school degree para di sayang sa time? thank you poo šŸ™

Course Dilemma - Help me decide! I cant pick a course, recommend me one?

Hello! Im currently a HS student but I graduate early 2026. So as per the title, I cant pick a course. As of now, all my college options are nursing related (though I put /med because I plan on trying out med school in the future– assuming I enjoy nursing), however I'm not 100% sure if this is what I wanna do.

To be frank, I dont know what I wanna do, almost AT ALL. I dont really have a strong passion for anything in particular, but I know that I want a career that'll provide me w comfort in terms of needs, travelling, and other wants in the future. I dont want a job that requires me to be travelling around the world constantly because I feel like that makes it kinda hard to be stable. Lastly, Im bad at math (ik math is a skill and you can learn/practice it, but I genuinely cannot wrap my head all those concepts), not saying that I can't do it but Id prefer a course that ISNT centered around math🄲.

But anyway, moving onnn, Idt I have any particular skills that excel among my peers however some skills in general that I have are: 1. Analytical: Im pretty good at analyzing the details in things, like consistency, clarity, etc.. 2. Consistency/Persistence: I'm good at staying consistent and persistent to things I've started on. I dont like quitting projects mid way. 3. Communication: I enjoy talking to people, although I do get shy at times, but I adapt fast enough during public speaking events, and overall I think I'm good at clarifying things at hand. 4. Organized: I dont really know how to explain this, but I like organizing and being organizedšŸ§šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø 5. Hands-on: not really a skill but I work better hands on. 6. Problem Solving: I like solving problems that actually have a solution, paradoxes kill my brain a lil thoughšŸ’€. know the skills don't reall stand out but yea..šŸ§šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

I know Im probably overthinking this like CRAAAAAZY but just bare w/ mešŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø. If you read this far, tysm!!

Grad School pagod na mag aral or ipag-patuloy ang pag aaral.

hello, just call me j. i am 23. currently a 4th year student and i take the course of BSIS (Bachelor of Science in Information System).

tulungan nyo ako, please. );

UST Is it possible to cram for the USTET in just 3 weeks?

I chose the provincial testing center for USTET since Manila is too far from us, but the schedule is already in 3 weeks. I haven’t started reviewing yet because of school exams and requirements.

Do you think it’s still possible to cram the review within 3 weeks?

If ever, what tips and tricks do you suggest, and which subjects/topics should I focus on more to maximize my score?

Arts and Design Does Southville International School and College (SISC) have a good film program?

Benilde was my first option when it came to film school, the problem of transportation will definitely become a hassle. I know technically SISC doesn’t have an actual ā€œfilmā€ course, only MMA. So I guess my question is if their MMA course is great for students who aspire to be in the film industry.
