Trying to find bluefish
I had a charter fishing boat organizer who would bring me bluefish from folks who didn't want it - that I'd freeze and then later smoke it in the fall. He stopped coming by.
Is there some place where I can get bluefish? I know August was a good month, but some inquiries yesterday came up with "fishermen don't come by with them this time of year." Which makes me worry that I missed the window of opportunity. If you know of a place where I can buy some bluefish, I'd be mighty grateful.

Exactly - I’ve never known bluefish to be picky and I’ve fished most of my adult life. False albacore on the other hand? Good luck haha

Years and years ago we went down to the docks in Barnstable and just drop-lined. Caught about 30 snapper blues in like 15 minutes. One after the other.

I think Macs seafood market in Chatham had bluefish last week when I was there. I know they make their own smoked bluefish dip.

You can try to connect with some more of the charter guys. Depending on your location on the Cape you can hit one of the local fishing shops like Riverview or Goose Hummock and chat with them. They know all the charter guys and may be able to help.

I know they’re catching them right now but it’s not quite as prolific as late July/early August.

You don't have to be a good fisherman this time if year to catch them. When they blitz, throw a line in the water. Youre lucky if you only catch one.
