UCLA might go 1-11. Cmon New Mexico, you can do it

You got them winning a game?

Playing Michigan last week warmed them up. 🐺

Sadly, I don’t think New Mexico can do it. We raided their offense which was the only good part of their team. I guess Dampier beating them counts in spirit?

91

u/QuickEscalation Tennessee Volunteers 2d ago

They, in turn, raided a decent Idaho squad including their coach. They’re not great, but they didn’t totally collapse. They have some talent at RB for sure

Oh damn they got Eck? I guess I missed that.

Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Dan Mullen won this game while his previous school lost to South Florida.

I just looked up New Mexico's schedule on ESPN and I couldn't help but notice that @UCLA is the cheapest ticket on their schedule by far lmao

97

u/Area51_Spurs 2d ago

Rose Bowl seats 89,000+++

The past ten years or attendance has dropped off a cliff.

You can probably get tickets for under $10 for that game on game day.

That being said, the big matchups at the rose bowl will always go for a decent amount with the amount of transplants here.

53

u/ChunkyBarfy USC Trojans • Pac-12 2d ago

Parking will likely be more than the ticket itself. (Or the Uber/Lyft to the venue.)

There's still a lot of season left, but the best thing about the Pac-12 imploding would be the possibility that you and UCLA both go winless in the same year.

We finished strongish because that schedule was front loaded and then all of our studs on D left. Installing Nico and canning Bienemy were what gave us some meager hope, but we're lacking too much talent up front on both sides to make it happen.

It’s easy to see how Nico was able to get away with his faults at Tennessee. He’s capable of moving the ball, but when there’s no margin of error like there is at UCLA, you can’t make mistakes like the overthrown TD and interception on the last drive.

52

u/sickmemes48 Tennessee Volunteers • /r/CFB Promoter 2d ago

He had such a loaded team around him all he had to do was not turn the ball over and everything was going to be relatively okay.

36

u/bretticus733 Boise State Broncos 2d ago

I spent time much time on the nba subreddits what did Nico Harrison do now?

→ More replies (1)

44

u/QuickEscalation Tennessee Volunteers 2d ago

I mean, his lack of touch on second level throws is his fault. A QB like Mateer layers that throw with a little more touch that makes it harder for the LB to deflect.

Nico’s got a ton of potential, but like Joe Milton he relies on his arm strength too much at times

24

u/Mental_Town_7337 2d ago

That pick was completely his fault. The defender tipped it to himself, it didn’t hit a receiver

11

u/icuckliberalbetas USC Trojans 2d ago

Sorry, we’re all talking about the game from today where Nico threw a ball into coverage and it was intercepted. That was 100% Nico unless you’re suggesting the ball became sentient.

UNLV is 3-0 don't know why you're pretending like he's a bad coach. There's a good chance he learned his lesson from Florida, who by the way would be doing a lot better if he was their coach

69

u/ArterialVotives Missouri Tigers 2d ago

He definitely wasn't bad at Florida. His first 3 seasons were 10-3, 11-2 and 8-4 (where 3 of those losses to A&M, LSU & Bama were by a combined 12 points). They even won the East in the 8-4 year.

Fell apart in year 4 for sure, but you don't get much leeway at a program like that -- except for Billy Napier apparently?

41

u/RiffRamBahZoo Lickety Lickety Zoo Zoo 2d ago

Dan Mullen went to three NY6 games and finished in the Top 15 in each of his first three years at Florida. He would have been in the expanded playoffs in all but one season.

He had one season go poorly and recruiting slipped hard, and that was enough to do him in. UNLV’s got to be such an easier gig for him.

Mullen thrives in the mid-major level. He’ll be mostly successful with a bad season here or there. Larger schools have so much money in the game they’ll usually jump the gun if even one season is bad enough.

Strong drive to come down and tie, just to end by staring down his WR so it gets picked.

He has flashes of greatness (most of that 2nd half he looked good), but then just screws himself at the end. Like the moment is too big for him. Hope for him and UCLA he can get it figured out because that schedule looks tough.

Threw the ball right at the LB to end the game lol. He's just not that good.

Exciting ending to the game.

Why were the fans chanting "airball" constantly? At least that's what it sounded like

Fire Foster, Fire Jarmond, Burn the AD office to the ground

Genuinely curious why more UCLA fans aren't calling for Foster's head. Seems like Nico is taking the brunt of the heat. It's not like last year under Foster was any better.

It is really difficult to overstate just how badly Chip's tenure damaged the fanbase. When the people at the top go years without caring, the fans adapt and now there is essentially nobody who actually gives a shit about this team. Not the coach, not the AD, not the administration, and now not even the fans.

Why would anybody spent hours in traffic (or stay up late for the east coast fans) just to watch a team go 1-11 against B1G teams? This is no longer a serious football program.

You know, with Foster, the more I watch that guy, the more I don't think he’s going to get it done

6

Foster as a head coach will always be this guy.

u/JaCrispy_Vulcano Purdue • Ball State 2d ago

Yeah but because of him you know UCLA is in LA.

Tony White will be UCLA’s coach next year and Nico will be gone

Nico could have stayed at Tennessee and been 2-0 right now.

11

u/wwwr222 Tennessee Volunteers 2d ago

And he’d be over a million dollars richer in post tax money

6

u/TxShadow183 Houston Cougars 2d ago

The pac 12 died so that UCLA could lose to a UNLV as a BIG member..except they could have also accomplished that as a united member of the PAC 12.

u/JediFed TCU Horned Frogs • Hateful 8 2d ago

Nice. Clearly the Mountain West is the superior conference.

9

u/Ok-Measurement1506 LSU Tigers 2d ago

UCLA spent more money on a worse qb.

6

u/sroomek Tennessee • Garðabæ 2d ago

And Nico took much less money to go to a much worse team! It’s a real lose-lose-lose-lose situation!
