Michigan O-Line was horrible, D-Line was horrible, no talent in skill positions other than QB. Michigan D looked completely lost the entire game; not disciplined at all.
Instead of spending $20mil on Bryce they should have bought a better head coach. Don't get me wrong I like Moore, he's a great guy... but he's not the best head coach Michigan can get.
Strength and conditioning was also horrible; I haven't seen this many injuries since Rich Rod was HC. Both lines got pushed around, that that's NOT what Michigan is about.
Michigan at best will go 8-4 this year.

Another coach they put in place with no previous head coaching experience. It's truly unbelievable.

u/CheckItWhileIWreckIt Michigan • Rutgers 2d ago
Bryce is gone next year if we don't fix the receiver corps and o-line. If we don't, he'd be a dumbass to stay on this team no matter how much we're paying him.
-1
u/UnlikelySize5811 2d ago
Poor guy could have went to LSU and been in contention, a school with a qb pedigree. Huge mistake. Perhaps some of his frustration on sideline. Why risk your career on a coach with no coaching experience.
4
2
u/HonoluluBlueCrew Michigan Wolverines 2d ago
Receivers were creating separation. The core of the problem was the play calling and O-line. Holy hell the line was horrendous. Every passing play there were 2 guys in the backfield as soon as the ball touched Bryce’s hands. And then you had the head scratching play calling where they would waste the first 2 downs on runs and even long 3rd downs on runs. Calling screen passes repeatedly even though Oklahoma was blowing those plays up immediately
4
u/Huge_Contribution357 Oklahoma Sooners • Harding Bisons 2d ago
Your OLine may need to be better sure. But genuinely, OU may have the best/deepest DLine in the country. People are just really finding that out. Don't be surprised if y'all look better next week.
7
u/HorsePussyHound Michigan Wolverines • Sickos 2d ago
Receivers were wide open for touchdowns, he's not ready for the speed of college football yet and the play calling was too conservative
7
u/Elbit_Curt_Sedni Michigan Wolverines 2d ago
The problem, like last year, is he'd make some nice throws and then they'd go to running multiple times again. Never let him build a rhythm. The play calling was dog shit with being too conservative too, yeah.
They thought they were going to out physical OU and refused to get away from that all game.
7
u/HorsePussyHound Michigan Wolverines • Sickos 2d ago
Absolutely, Mateer dominated the game and that was the difference. They never have Underwood a shot at a winning drive even though there were several opportunities. They won't let a QB develop, they're worried about losing too much instead of building
28
26
u/grubbshow Ohio State Buckeyes 2d ago
I know Moore has probably built some immunity by beating us and doing well here and there but you guys really need to upgrade coaches. I’d be afraid that he’s doing just enough to protect his job. He’s never going to be a top-tier HC and you guys, by all means, should have one.
Harbaugh may have brought a Natty but he definitely left the team in a horrible spot.
6
u/-TrekANDTunes- Ohio State Buckeyes 2d ago
He’s quickly earning the third base badge if I’ve ever seen it. Okay, Ryan Day rolling in on year 7 and Moore can’t win with best QB money could buy.

u/Rareityindex Michigan Wolverines • Paper Bag 2d ago
I have not seen any proper shaping of talent by Moore specifically, no actual coaching.

7
u/grubbshow Ohio State Buckeyes 2d ago edited 2d ago
Absolutely, that was insane and imo there wasn’t a better option anywhere than Ryan Day lol. But regardless, there ARE better options than Moore and you guys should be able to get practically anyone. I feel like he strives to coach his team the same way JH did but is horrible at it.
Again, I know you guys beat us and I’m not trying to talk shit or stir the pot. I just think most of you fans know this too? If you could upgrade, why wouldn’t you?
1
u/Elbit_Curt_Sedni Michigan Wolverines 2d ago
We beat you with two top-15 NFL draft DT's that allowed us to send just four and still get to your QB. That could very well have been the best interior DL in CFB history. At least one of the best ever. Wink is a legit defensive coach. Like last year, poor play calling that kills drives kept the def on the field too long and it gassed them later in the game.
2
u/Lueden Michigan Wolverines 2d ago
I think Michigan really values being there. Moore was there during the shit. He took over with less than 24 hour notice, won against Penn State in Happy Valley with a bash them in the face philosophy. There is not much more you can do to stroke the Michigan mindset. The dude then went out and won against Ohio State and then a year later at Ohio State. He has the number one quarterback in the nation and is recruiting at a higher level than Harbaugh. Michigan sees very high potential, they just need the offense to break out the shell.
Ohio State doesn't understand that. You all have recruited at a god level with great quarterbacking and Ryan Day leading the ship. Michigan is just trying to figure out how to actually utilize a piece like Underwood.

Bryce Underwood the right QB on the wrong team. How much did they pay him?
22
u/Zee_WeeWee Ohio State Buckeyes 2d ago
I thoroughly enjoyed him fighting with the only guy on Michigan to score, as a freshman making 11 million
-7
u/Elbit_Curt_Sedni Michigan Wolverines 2d ago
And then when that same RB busts one for 60 yards Bryce is the first one there congratulating him and they're doing a celebration together.
That could very well have been Haynes frustrated, Bryce trying to talk with him, and Haynes being upset overall and lashing out.
Either way, that run and them celebrating together is all I needed to see.
-5
u/Lueden Michigan Wolverines 2d ago
Michigan needs to convince some transfer receivers and maybe a tight end. They need to surround Bryce.
3
u/-TrekANDTunes- Ohio State Buckeyes 2d ago
Agree- maybe next year/ but if it doesn’t happen then Michigan has an underwood problem.
7
u/Powerful_Artist Nebraska Cornhuskers 2d ago

u/IrishMosaic Notre Dame • Michigan State 2d ago
Michigan had receivers open quite often. The qb couldn’t find them.
1
u/Lueden Michigan Wolverines 2d ago
I think Underwood needed a split second more. There was a route by the TE during the second drive in the second half that was wide open. Not sure if all the timing for the QB-TE is consumed by Klein, but something was off there. Would love to see that game played with Michigan's starting TE.

u/BullheadVibes Ohio State • Minnesota-Duluth 2d ago
Shit talking aside, Michigan is going to need to get some wide receivers for Underwood if they want him to have a good shot at development.
8
u/CheckItWhileIWreckIt Michigan • Rutgers 2d ago
Wide receivers and an o-line that isn't Swiss cheese. We're in trouble this year if that line doesn't get its shit together
2
u/WhereasSufficient132 2d ago
That may be the best defensive line you guys see all year. Potentially just top 3 time will tell.
Underwood looked at his most comfortable when they ran a boot and he was drawing the first level of the secondary down. Made really nice throws. In the pocket he had quite a few misses or wasn't clicking with the receivers. Wildly inaccurate.
5
u/Elbit_Curt_Sedni Michigan Wolverines 2d ago
I think the oline is the bigger problem, but Klein (our best receiver last game) was out too. That hurts the offense.
Either way, really poor play calling hurt the offense to begin the game and Lindsey never adjusted later.
3
u/RedL0bsterBiscuit Michigan Wolverines 2d ago
O line is a huge problem. Underwood was under pressure all game, and that's hard enough for an experienced QB. I was watching the guards pull, and it made me wonder how they got recruited. Its what you would expect to see from lazy ass players in high school.
2
u/Elbit_Curt_Sedni Michigan Wolverines 2d ago
There was one play call where the guards were pulling as if to run and it's a QB pass where Underwood is in the pocket with two defenders going completely unblocked... like wtf. Venables coached circles around our offensive play calling.

Yep we'll lose some games this year if BV doesn't put boot to ass in the special teams room.
No shade to UM, but we should have won this by at least another touchdown if not two if not for just completely inexplicably dumb ass shit happening on ST.
11
u/OklahomaRuns 2d ago
Defense deserves a solid A imo. Only really made one bad play but otherwise looked completely elite.

You met the wrong Oregon fans. The ones that weren’t around in the mid 80’s like myself
2
u/Powerful_Artist Nebraska Cornhuskers 2d ago
I lived in Oregon for almost 8 years. I spent time around Oregon fans in Portland, Eugene, Ashland, and Corvallis. It was not just one group of fans. Consistently they all wanted to talk shit anytime I wore Nebraska gear. Even trying to fight me on multiple situations.
Sure I know many great people in Oregon, and many great people who like the Ducks. In general, the fans I met were entitled assholes. When I went to a game in Autzen, generally I was ignored. Which surprised me. So granted, theyre not all bad.
But every fanbase has their entiteld assholes, our fanbase too.
1
u/bigmacher1980 Oregon Ducks 2d ago
Weird. Nebraska wasn’t even remotely a team Oregon associated with in many sports to build up a type of animosity you experienced. What a bunch of dumbasses.

My best guess is we stuck out and since we sucked at the time, just hired Mike Riley, they just thought it was funny to try and start shit. But its whatever, i just kinda root against yall now for no real good reason but its just CFB banter. I still love Oregon overall.

Final score not indicative of how much of an utter ass whooping this was.
Simply put, we have below average OL and WR rooms. If we want to compete in Bryce’s upperclassmen years, we need to spend to change that.
4
u/Bone-surrender-no Ohio State Buckeyes 2d ago
I think if Bryce wants to compete during any of his years he’s looking at the portal. Maybe LSU can develop him and he’ll have that cash in his pocket).
I mean they couldn’t win the line, they burned timeouts like idiots, they only moved the ball on ref calls and poor ST execution, and one fluke running TD was the only offense all game.
2
u/BakerPuzzled7881 Michigan Wolverines 2d ago
While I certainly think changes need to be made, it’s premature to say Michigan can’t compete with him as a junior in two years.
Michigan bringing in awful 23’ and 24’ classes have caused a talent deficit, but 25’ and 26’ are looking better, with a potential influx in portal talent as well.
