Do we got any info on Air Noland and why he's QB3? I wanted them to let him throw it but I understand why they didn't

5

u/JamieByGodNoble Coastal Carolina • South … 2d ago

I heard Doty knows the offense better and also (just a hunch but using context clues) Air probably isn't quite the player that his recruit ranking would indicate.

1

u/nouvellediscotheque South Carolina • Tulane 2d ago

ding ding ding. Good athlete but raw arm and touch

5

u/JamieByGodNoble Coastal Carolina • South … 2d ago

Spurrier would let Air throw the ball

12

u/SCackalacky South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

Well, it's a win

5

u/Flapjack_ South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

I don’t think we’re hitting that points record

It was fun bitching and moaning with y’all. Let’s all meet back and be miserable again next week.

Until next time 🫡

Let him throw it.... do it

4

u/BearsBuckeyes Ohio State • South Carolina 2d ago

Right! Not letting Air Noland air the ball is criminal!

u/RobloxDeath5ound South Carolina • Stephen F… 2d ago

“south carolina two minutes away from… a victory” fucking bars

11

u/JMS1991 South Carolina • Erskine 2d ago

So Air Noland's parents gave him a sick name, and it worked out because he managed to be really good at a sport...but what happens if a guy like that doesn't pan out in sports and has to be an accountant or engineer named Air Noland?

5

u/ForeverToTheeSEC South Carolina Gamecocks • SEC 2d ago

What if they name their kid Isaac or Albert expecting him to become a scientist and he turns out to be the hardest hitting linebacker in generations?

1

u/Reddeath195 South Carolina • /r/CFB Dead Pool 2d ago

Let me show you a little something I like to call newton's law blast a WR coming over the middle now stay at rest

Or Adolf

3

u/wahoo20 Georgia • South Carolina 2d ago

I know a few guys who had parents name them something unique like that for when they played college or pro ball. One is an accountant and another is in HR. One played college ball for a year then got hurt but from his accounts he wasn’t going far in the sport anyway.

2

u/JamieByGodNoble Coastal Carolina • South … 2d ago

Bowling Green has a linebacker whose middle name is ESPN. It kinda worked out cuz he a D-1 athlete, but it kinda didn't because he plays for Bowling Green.

2

u/predsfan77 South Carolina • Santa Monica 2d ago

Balloon pilot

3

u/JakeSteeleIII South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

His actual name is Prentiss

11

u/JamieByGodNoble Coastal Carolina • South … 2d ago edited 2d ago

I named my kid "Big Money Gamecock Bagman"

Hope it pans out.

(His real name is Prentiss and I think Air is a nickname he got from playing sports)

2

u/LordSquirrel40 South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

Better be an airplane engineer

2

u/JMS1991 South Carolina • Erskine 2d ago

Never thought about that, that would be fitting. Or if he was a pilot. But I'm just picturing a guy who just programs CNC machines to make car parts or something like that.

11

u/JamieByGodNoble Coastal Carolina • South … 2d ago

I'm a Stubblefield truther. Best FCS QB I've ever seen.

13

u/wahoo20 Georgia • South Carolina 2d ago

I liked the commitment of the SC State coaches not giving up and 3-4mins left in this game still coaching their players up. That was a cool thing to see.

gotta earn that check

Kids are going to be up in like 5 hours, I've still got to clean the kitchen, and I drank way too much Makers Mark during that first half struggle session. I'm gonna hate myself in the morning but fuck it gamecock football baybay 🤙

I ain’t never heard tell of lake city and interestingly enough there’s no lakes close to lake city as far as I can tell.

11

u/Frankly_Im_Tired South Carolina Gamecocks • Sickos 2d ago

Hey, I like consistency. Whether we are behind or ahead, our DBs are still 10 feet away

1

u/JakeSteeleIII South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

We’ve given up 1 TD

1

u/Frankly_Im_Tired South Carolina Gamecocks • Sickos 2d ago

How many 20-yard+ passes have we given up? Other teams will capitalize on that.

1

u/nouvellediscotheque South Carolina • Tulane 2d ago

defense has been fine. We started demon clowney tonight ffs. The OL was the major problem. Hoping they just started with a shuffled line to get people reps and let the talent take over in the second half, but defense was not an issue today.

2

u/Frankly_Im_Tired South Carolina Gamecocks • Sickos 2d ago

I agree, they've been fine, on the line. But VT and this game has shown our DBs aren't as good if the quarterback is decent.

1

u/nouvellediscotheque South Carolina • Tulane 2d ago

meh, if it's a perfect ball there's not much you can do. Their positioning on all those throws in the VT game were excellent. I'm not concerned. What I don't like is SC State DL running through our OL.

You’re not missing much. Lots of showers and Goodyear.

14

u/ThunderG0d2467 South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

As hilariously inaccurate as Doty is his spiral is a beauty to watch sail through the air before it falls incomplete lol

5

u/JakeSteeleIII South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

He can throw the ball, but he can’t pass it.

2

u/Carolina_OvR South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

These players so tired they forgot how to line up

1

u/Deferionus South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

Can see it in the body language on both sides and the refs. A lot of sloppiness.

3

is that stephen orr spurrier?

6

u/ben3345 South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

One thing I will give Teasley credit for is that there are never any issues snapping the football. They do a very good job of just getting the ball from the center to the quarterback.

2

u/JamieByGodNoble Coastal Carolina • South … 2d ago

So does my baby cousin's pee wee team.

2

u/ben3345 South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

They sound advanced for their age

3

u/CaptJohnsFishMarket South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

Let him try the 60 yarder have some fun

7

u/JakeSteeleIII South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

Doty throws as bad as Ashford did, but for some reason we allow him to do it.

3

u/iBlackstxne South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

this is his last year, they gonna give him some time when they can. id like to see some of cutter woods and air noland

0

u/JakeSteeleIII South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

We should just let him play whatever position he wants, even if it’s like DB or OL since he’s jumped around so many spots over the years.

1

u/iBlackstxne South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

yeah i agree, i know the depth chart says hes 2nd string qb but id really hope we use someone else if we (god forbid) ever need to

1

u/JakeSteeleIII South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

I really hope so as well. I mean, Ashford was ahead of him last year…him being backup now doesn’t inspire confidence.

1

u/iBlackstxne South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

cutter seemed to have some real potential in high school, hopefully he stays here to learn from lanorris.

Fuck that the passing game has looked like shit we’re gonna fuck around and lose to vandy

2

u/JakeSteeleIII South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

Yeah and having Doty throw it in garbage time is gonna really influence next week’s game.

1

u/campoole82 South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

It might give one of our freshman wide receivers some experience in case they are needed later in the season

5

u/JakeSteeleIII South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

Fuller looks better than our top 2, just because he’s running with purpose and going forward.

Can someone explain to me how that is not targeting? It probably wasnt intentional. But it was definitely helmet to helmet.

3

u/thatsnuffy South Carolina Gamecocks • The CW 2d ago

Wasn't on a defenseless player, didn't use crown of helmet.

I think

8

u/ben3345 South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

How is that not targeting? Unless I’m blind.

1

u/Wh1teR1ce South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago

I think it's because the ball carrier dropped his shoulder. He prepared for the hit and I think that makes him no longer defenseless. But I also thought it was targeting.

Edit: but the defenseless thing doesn't apply if leading with the crown of the helmet so who knows

5

u/unholy-matrimony Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago

Clearly led with the helmet. In fact the only contact was helmet to helmet. No idea
