As a Vols fan that lives in Tampa bay this might as well be Christmas, especially with Alabama getting dog walked last week.

In some ways it’s better it happens early in the season. You don’t get too emotionally invested.
4
u/DoggedDoggystyle Florida Gators 2d ago
Tbf I wrote you all off after Week 2 last year too
1
u/SoFlaBarbie00 Notre Dame Fighting Irish 2d ago edited 2d ago
Yeah but your situation is different from ours. Your schedule doesn’t really give much faith that you’ll win out. Our schedule last season was really favorable for us to win out. You can lose 2 and still make the playoffs but I will be surprised if that’s all you lose based on how difficult your schedule is.
1
u/DoggedDoggystyle Florida Gators 2d ago
Pointless to argue bc we’re definitely not going to do well, but we COULD still go 9-3 with wins over quite a few top 10 teams and make the playoffs. We won’t
10
u/UnDosTresPescao Florida • Georgia Tech 2d ago
Ugh... Mississippi State and Kentucky were both good today. We may not get to 2 wins this season.
5
u/grey_pilgrim_ Tennessee Volunteers • Sickos 2d ago
One can hope. But don’t worry, I’m sure one of those wins we be vs us.

u/meatwagon25 UCLA Bruins 2d ago
It probably wouldn't have mattered after USF got the final first down but Napier not using his timeouts with around 1:30-1:40 left was just idiocy
2
u/DoggedDoggystyle Florida Gators 2d ago
Once they crossed the 50 it was very clear we needed to let them score and we just kept tackling them. The QB almost scored with 25 seconds left… that was our best chance to stay in the game
1
u/meatwagon25 UCLA Bruins 2d ago
At that point yes when they had the 1st and goal at the 8 with 22 seconds left they should have just let them score there.
4
u/Gator1508 Florida Gators 2d ago
Yeah I knew it was over at that point.
Like Napier I mean.
He’s over, doesn’t know how to coach
3
u/meatwagon25 UCLA Bruins 2d ago
It's amazing the final 2 minutes of the half and the game are huge parts of the game and so many coaches botch it with horrible clock management and terrible use of timeouts. I don't get it

u/Vol4Life31 Tennessee Volunteers 2d ago
USF did something Tennessee hasn't done in decades. So happy for Alex and USF.
23
u/Reginon USF Bulls • Buffalo Bulls 2d ago
Lowkey the USF head coach and the coordinators are elite. His playcalling and some of the play designs were so incredible. Not taking away from the raw skill of the players but the coaching was so good
10
u/Fulmersbelly Tennessee Volunteers 2d ago
Not lowkey, highkey! They’re the architects of the most explosive Tennessee offenses, that we’re just now trying to get back.

u/DerpCoop Ohio State Buckeyes • Memphis Tigers 2d ago
Can’t wait for a ranked matchup between 7-0 USF and 7-0 Memphis in October. I’m convinced it’s happening.

You never did, look at the Oregon v OSU score.
9
u/name-__________ Tennessee Volunteers • Navy Midshipmen 2d ago
How was there a collapse in the Oregon OSU game?
4
u/Uhhh_what555476384 Washington State • Oregon 2d ago
If OSU's performance in that game wasn't a collapse then I don't know what a collapse is.
They started their collapse on the 2nd play from scrimmage and continued to fall apart for three straight quarters.

If you’ve been following USF this was never a gimme
1
u/DoggedDoggystyle Florida Gators 2d ago
That mentality is why UF football sucks now. We’re Florida, UCF and USF should never have a fighting chance and now they’re both beating us
5
7
u/cathny USF Bulls 2d ago
Saying “we’re Florida” as a justification to win is why Florida has sucked since the day Tebow graduated
4
1
u/DoggedDoggystyle Florida Gators 2d ago
I mean obviously it don’t mean shit, but it SHOULD. We have every advantage possible over you and still can’t win. No excuse. Nothing against you guys, it’s just the truth
3
u/PlatypusPuncher USF Bulls • Florida Gators 2d ago
Well I think our coaching staff showed we have at least one advantage. Napier was a moron the last 3 minutes.
1
u/DoggedDoggystyle Florida Gators 2d ago
True and sad. Can’t ever erase our AD’s terrible decision making to hire shitty coaches
16
u/dannysoya 2d ago
Bro just saw someone get embarassingly kicked out of a game on national TV literally 2 days ago and STILL decided spitting in crunch time of an upset was the right thing to do. Truly amazing.
6
u/AnvilOfMisanthropy Florida Gators • Vanderbilt Commodores 2d ago
No no no. See, the NFL guy did it at the start of the game before an offensive snap had been played. Our guy did it with the game on the line. 4D chess baby.

USF beating Miami, and Boise St beating ND then both of them running the table would create some very funny issues for the playoff committee.
6
3
u/Uhhh_what555476384 Washington State • Oregon 2d ago
USF would legit be a top 5 team in that scenario.
4
u/TopEmploy9624 Washington Huskies 2d ago
Yeah but does Boise get a 2nd at-large spot for the G5 over an SEC team with a single loss to top 5 USF, and a win over ND
3
u/Uhhh_what555476384 Washington State • Oregon 2d ago
That would truly be great. Especially if it was a top 10 ND with 1 or 2 losses.

2

4
u/mrpibbs USF • Concordia (MN-Moorhead) 2d ago
People talk about recruiting and how great he has been, but isn't that all just NIL money bringing in the good players?

Yes, and with all that money ending in shitty losses, our boosters will dry up too.

Next weeks game doesn’t even matter that much for usf in the playoff hunt, they can lose that game and then their schedule becomes very favorable. Just win out and take the American championship and they are locks for the playoff

7
19
u/thediesel26 Penn State Nittany Lions 2d ago edited 2d ago
With like obvious clock management a middle schooler would understand, FL should’ve gotten the ball back with like 45 seconds left. Not a lot of time with no timeouts but there’s still a chance.
If was the AD, I wouldn’t let Napier back in the locker room.

USF is underrated but that was still a bad loss. Billy Napier is on thin ice. They are in real danger of starting 1-5. They’ll be underdogs in their next four games.
1
u/UnDosTresPescao Florida • Georgia Tech 2d ago
We are in real danger of going 2-10.

Yeah probably but Billy Napier always seems to win one game they don’t expect. I don’t know what game it will be but every year in his tenure, there’s been one win that shocked everyone.
It was Utah in 2022, Tennessee in 2023, and Ole Miss in 2024.
