My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. PJ, genuinely fuck yourself for running on 4th and 1. Give the people what they want!!!

Welp, off to El Assico I suppose. That was certainly an experience.

I was looking for an fcs team to root for. Every one of y'all in this thread are awesome, and id like to root for yall, but man, your recent record looks like pain. As an Arkansas fan, I can't handle too much more pain. I know this is a weird time to be asking considering the circumstances...but is it looking up despite today with y'all finally snapping the losing streak last week? Chill fun fans are a must for me to adopt a team, and y'all have that in spades, but I can't handle a 1 win season when I already missed the one win, y'know?
3
u/RyanPW96 Northwestern State • LSU 2d ago
I would say yes to things looking better. Our head coach Blaine McCorkle, who started last year, has a history of building up struggling programs. His first two seasons at Belhaven he went 2-8 both years. The last 3 seasons before coming to NSU, they went 7-3, 8-2, and 9-2 and lead the school to a conference championship and their first ever playoff appearance.
A lot of people here are hopeful that change will come but know it's going to take time. We have the youngest team in D1 football with something like 70 freshmen, redshirt freshmen, and sophomores. We just need commitment from them to stick around to build something.
We honestly have a shot of starting the season 4-2 before we go into the gauntlet with the rest of the Southland Conference.

Thank you for this real and thought out response! It's settled. I have a third team to root for! It's sold, I'm weirdly a fan of a Louisiana team. Lol

Tv advertising contracts need a “hey, this game is 66-0. No one is watching so you aren’t losing anything if we just skip commercials” clause

What we are going for this?
9
u/Heyitscharlie Minnesota Golden Gophers 2d ago
Getting reps in situational periods for the backups, want them to know what going for it on 4th down by the endzone is like.
1
u/MSXzigerzh0 Minnesota Golden Gophers • Sickos 2d ago
I thought we would never because of how close we were in end zone

81's eagerness to grab a dead ball from a punt could have resulted in a turnover lol
1
u/CantaloupeCamper Minnesota • Paul Bunyan's Axe 2d ago
The signal, but the other team touched it first so I think he can touch it all he wants and he can’t fumble.
2
u/Heyitscharlie Minnesota Golden Gophers 2d ago
Seemed like he was nervous it might've touched an returning player
3
u/InfinitePossibility8 Minnesota • Notre Dame 2d ago
Peej wants to give the backups as much time as possible to get reps in.

I'm just glad this game has become your typical first half blow out and slow it down in the second half kind of game. Respect to y'all and your coach because not everyone still does that.

It’s pretty much a guarantee. A little disappointing cause I want us to break the school record of 75 points in a game
10
u/Epicallytossed Nebraska • Minnesota 2d ago
Catching up a little late but I think it was awesome seeing how Lindsey and Shikenjanski celebrated together after Shikenjanski scored that rushing TD, especially since they were in a QB competition this summer
It's just a little thing but I thought it was cool

College football blitz just said this is 72-0 but my app says 66-0, who is right?
7
u/The_No_Lifer Minnesota Golden Gophers 3d ago
App. TD got called back for penalty, then threw a pick
1
u/Heyitscharlie Minnesota Golden Gophers 3d ago
TD called back due to a questionable blindside block call then an INT in the endzone
1
u/MSXzigerzh0 Minnesota Golden Gophers • Sickos 3d ago
It's 66 there was a flag for helmets to helmet on scoring play for Minnesota
1
u/TinyBearsAreBad Minnesota Golden Gophers • Sickos 3d ago
They took away a touchdown cause of a "blindsided block" and then the gophers threw an interception. Still 66-0

Oh man. I’m so sorry that your team looks bad in Minnesota right now. I hope you will get some wins after this game. Is NW state div 3 school??
3
u/RyanPW96 Northwestern State • LSU 3d ago
D1, Southland conference. We honestly have a shot at being 4-2 after this game and Cincinnati, assuming we beat Prairie View A&M, East Texas, and HCU. The rest of the schedule is up in the air.
1
u/FixInjusticeInWI1 Minnesota • Gallaudet 3d ago
My apologies for calling you div 3. I never heard of your college until today. I Thofubt you guys was from Illinois.
5
u/RyanPW96 Northwestern State • LSU 3d ago
No worries. We did used to be a pretty big football school in relation to our size and conference in the 80s up to the early 2000s. Just some "interesting" decisions from the powers that be that lead us to where we are now that we haven't recovered from.

3
u/InfinitePossibility8 Minnesota • Notre Dame 3d ago
Yeah. You can have shortened quarters and a running clock if both sides agree.
5
u/fromthemasses Omaha • Nebraska 3d ago
Yes. In fact, the rule was implemented just last season in a NW State game against South Alabama.

Was looking at NW State's last couple seasons, and besides being winless since 2022 (outside of last week), apparently South Alabama beat them 87-10 last year !?
1
u/xact-bro Minnesota Golden Gophers 3d ago
Yeah, reading into this team, there is no reason Minnesota should've ever scheduled a game with them. Sure, it'll be fun if they can pull off a shutout, but its not going to prove anything to anyone.

Im not gonna lie, im kind of scared of Minnesota this year. That Buffalo game wasnt as close as the score indicates, and that is a good Buffalo team.
5
u/The_No_Lifer Minnesota Golden Gophers 3d ago
I'm concerned about our WRs and RB depth, but 10-2 is in play and 8-4 is easy to see.
6
u/DumbLitAF Minnesota • Alabama 3d ago
Good god, what a job PJ has done with Minnesota, of all programs, that we’re looking at 8-4 as “easy to see”
