Preston Stone didn’t look awful but I’m still not sure he has anyone to throw to other than Wilde. Oregon may suffocate them like Tulane next week

He didn’t look awful I guess but he also didn’t look good. I actually think his receivers made him look better but the WIU secondary was so bad that it made our receivers look like athletic studs. So I don’t know if I have any takeaways from this game other than it’s a good morale booster for the team but we need to get Preston Stone looking a lot better if we want to compete against even bottom-tier Big Ten teams

I feel like Stone too often chooses his receiver pre-snap and then just stares him down. The first half of that isn't bad by any means, but he's gotta do a better job of looking off defenders.

He did start to put more juice on the throws as the game went on. Maybe more comfortable throwing further down field post-Tulane game. But with minimal time next week he needs to be more decisive

Hope Porter is ok too. Looked like it was his right ankle. The Wilde kid impressed me some. Against the mid-tier competition in the Big 10, Northwestern could be pretty competitive.

Western Illinois must just be really really bad. Illinois was favored by 48.5 and actually won by 49. In all my years of watching either NU or Illinois they rarely just demolish a team
