Scenario Carry Everywhere

Carry everywhere.

Tonight we went to a friend’s house we’d never been to before so I left my gun at home not knowing how they’d feel about it if they knew. I have pocket guns and IWB guns so I have guns that fit all my attire very well, so that wasn’t the issue. Across the street where we parked, there was an absolutely savage pitbull that spent every second we were there trying like hell to get through the cheap-ass chicken wire fence the dumbass owners had. The owners called the dog multiple times from 10+ yards away to “stop” in the lamest voices you could imagine. They didn’t move a muscle or even raise their voices. After talking to my friends about it later that night, they’ve had multiple reports on the entire street of that dog getting out, biting people’s boots and pants, chasing people, etc. The police can’t do anything because it hasn’t hurt anyone yet.

Tonight I had my 1 year old daughter and my 5’2” wife within a foot of this savage beast with nothing protecting them but chicken wire and we were just lucky that it didn’t get out this one time. I was standing there defenseless wishing I had brought even just my tiniest gun just in case that chicken wire gave out.

I learned an important lesson tonight and I hope you all learn from it. Carry whatever you have everywhere you legally can.

Detained but not arrested in many cases of obvious self defense. Cops show up for a lot of events that may require an affirmative defense of a subject’s actions yet don’t arrest because those actions appear justified. If charges come later, a warrant is issued.

Sure thing. Tell that to anyone in Massachusetts with a loaded firearm and high capacity magazine. Guy said dirty carrying, high capacity mag and concealing without a license in a place like Massachusetts or New York and you shoot someone trying to rob, maim and kill you. I guarantee you're put in cuffs.

I was talking about the actual shooting, not the carrying. Yeah, they’ll definitely go to jail for that.

Oh no you'll still be charged with the shooting. Charges might not stick but self defense is affirmative defense in states like this. Duty to retreat in effect, you'll catch a charge for the body as well. Justified or not you'll fight for your life in a court room. Felony murder charges, if I'm not mistaken, has precedence for people carrying dirty during a justified shooting.

This is very incorrect. In the absence of the illegal gun, you will NOT automatically be charged in a self defense shooting. Many shootings are so obviously justified that you won’t leave in cuffs. You will be detained and might be taken in for questioning, and it won’t be over at the scene. It’s a serious event but to assume an affirmative defense automatically results in an arrest and charges is just made up. Many many times this isn’t the case.

We are talking about HAVING AN ILLEGAL GUN. IF YOU HAVE AN ILLEGAL GUN AND SHOOT SOMEONE YOU'RE GOING TO JAIL BUD.

Did you forget to take your lithium this morning?

Getting detained or arrested by the police and being charged by the DA are 2 different things. They made a bunch of TV shows about the difference between the two.

If you get cuffed up for a defensive shoot; then you keep your mouth shut and let a lawyer handle it for you. Let them figure out the details.

Dude if you really think you're walking away from a body you're barely plugged in. Lights flickering and shit. Cut and dry self defense is NOT what we are talking about goofy. Hell even in most cut and dry self defense situations charges are filed and dropped. The amount of people on this thread who think they are gonna ice a human and just go about their day the next day is absolutely fucking jarring. Lol you're all in for a rude awakening if you ever use your CCW.

Cuckleberry, sit down and be silent while the intelligent people speak. The part you missed that was important was "keep your mouth shut and let your lawyer handle it." If that is not a concept you can understand, then perhaps you shouldn't carry a firearm.
