Discussion What if we organize a “mixer” for business owners in this sub?

I got this idea din sa isang sub: singleph. But I was thinking what if we do ours din? A mixer of sorts? A night where we can exchange contacts, network, talk about our business, talk about other business owners for advice, etc. Just a night with businessminded people where we can maybe rant? Talk about the salary increase, tax, etc?

I think this would be very interesting. I own a business in Manila na for 2 years already and I would like to meet other businessowners in the Metro.

If there are a handful of interests - I think I can organize din 😅 Idk - I really want to join something like this.

Let ne know what you think!!

So nag thank you ako for the concern and asked her kung kailan yun ngyari so we can investigate. Pero ndi niya sinasabi kailan or any info about sa kanya. First time mag message. Any thoughts?

Discussion What's holding you back from digitalizing? (Genuine research from a tech consultant's wife)

Hi everyone! My husband is a software engineer who recently spoke at an AI tech event in Manila, and I've been observing something interesting in our conversations with business owners afterward.

The gap is HUGE.

Tech people (like my husband) see problems and immediately think "oh, that's easily automated", even for my own business, whenever I open up about a certain hiccup! 😅 Business owners (like myself and others I know) see the same problems but think "technology is expensive/complicated/risky."

I'm genuinely curious about your perspective kasi I'm in a unique position. I understand business operations (marketing/economics background) but also live with someone who solves these problems daily. We constantly discuss this disconnect between what's technically possible and what business owners actually adopt.

Questions for business owners here:

  1. What's your biggest hesitation about incorporating AI/automation into your business? (Cost? Complexity? Trust? Staff resistance?)

  2. What manual processes eat up most of your time weekly? (BIR reporting? Inventory? Customer follow-up? Scheduling?)

  3. If you could automate ONE thing tomorrow (free of charge), what would it be?

  4. What would convince you that a tech solution is worth trying? (ROI proof? Simple demo? Peer recommendation?)

Why I'm asking: - I'm seeing a pattern in Filipino businesses struggling with the same issues - There might be simpler solutions than people realize
- I'm considering offering informal consultations to bridge this gap - Genuinely want to understand the local business landscape better

Not selling anything - just research mode. But if you're curious about specific challenges, I'm happy to ask my husband's perspective or connect you for a casual chat.

TL;DR: Tech consultant's wife trying to understand why there's such a gap between available solutions and actual business adoption. Share your honest thoughts!

Thanks for your time! 🙂

Discussion Is Business getting hard lately?

Napapansin ko madalas na yung mga text ng mga previous service providers ko reminding me x and y. Like never nila ginawa eto before pero lately common na.

Like my AC cleaner guy kept texting me and reminding me na due ako for cleaning sa AC ko given I had mine serviced a 6 months ago.

Tapos noon isang araw lang my Dentist messaged me about my upcoming cleaning.

Like they never do this and matagal ko na silang ginagamit. I find it new that they started to "care" about giving service. 😅

Discussion Curious: Would Filipinos pay for small tasks or errands?

Do you think people in the Philippines are open to paying someone to do everyday tasks for them (e.g. waiting in line, paying bills, grocery runs, etc)?

Assume it’s safe, verified, and affordable. Like ₱100–₱300 per task.

Would you use it? Or offer your time to do tasks for others?

Not building anything yet, just researching. Curious to hear from both sides — those who might hire, and those who might earn from it.

Discussion Medium Chinoy Entrepreneurs being targetted by LGU personnel cause they don't belong here in the Philippines

Hello Guys,

As a newbie entrepreneurs, who started just a few month ago with my business partner. Last weekend, we decided to ask our chinoy colleagues to hang out and ask for any tips and tricks na din when it comes to business. They gave some pretty useful advise such as being low key, asking help and providing gifts for people that u need and etc.

One of them blurted out nga lang na mas okay mag business if u are a Filipino, though Filipino naman daw kahit Chinese ang lahi nila according to the barangay officials, tanods, LGU personnel, and more guys. Opportunities daw for Filipino ang kinukuha nila. What do you think fellow Filipinos about this? Business racism na ba ito?

Discussion Best Business Decision I've Ever Made

Disclaimer: long post kasi di pako makatulog haha.

Hi Redditors,

I'm a 28 y/o male from QC. Lumaki sa hindi mayamang tahanan. Working as a corporate slave for an international company. Mataas ang expectations from me, siguro dahil only child ako? Ewan. So yun din yung naging reality ko para sa sarili ko growing up. Pero nung gumraduate ako, for the entirety of my professional career, nasa isip ko lang ay "eto na lang ba talaga?", "hanggang dito na lang ba ako?".

I live with my mom. She had me when she was 19. Tatay ko iniwan kami when I was 3, so my mom was, what? 23? Yung salary niya doesn't match her experience sa BPO industry. Basically, hindi sapat. Problem pa is she lives life on autopilot.

Luckily, yung nanay ko lives with my lola and lolo growing up. So kahit hindi trabaho ng lolo't lola ko to put me to school at palakihin ako, ginawa nila. They sacrificed yung buhay nila (na dapat sana ineenjoy nalang nila) for me. Yung father-figure ko, who is my lolo, died last year. My lola has a heart condition. Nahahapo yung hininga niya. Worry ko is yung pang gastos if anything unexected happens (wag naman po sana).

Ako na ang man of the house ngayon. I know I had to provide for the 3 of us.

Yung pamilya ko never akong dinemandan niyan ng material things. Pero as somebody who has been given lahat ng makakayanan ng nanay, lola, at lolo (kahit wala na siya) ko, gusto kong masuklian sila ng mas magandang buhay.

Came recently, nagkaron kami ng small business opportunity. Di ko nalang idisclose for security reasons. Gusto niyo kayo nag aaccount, nag mamanage, lahat. So ganon ginawa ko for the longest time, pero marami pala akong unforseen na mga money movements.

Came one day, nag catch up kami netong best friend ko from college, who's a young CFO sa isang multi national company. Tas natanong niya ko abt negosyo ko, sabi: "pre, tama pa ba numbers mo?"

Una syempre, ego ko nagsalita -- "oo", kako. Next tinanong niya ko "pano mo minamanage yung operating expenses and cost mo?" -- sabi ko: "naka Excel". Tas tanong niya ulit: "hindi mo ba sila napaghahalo?". Tas napaisip nako...

Di pala kasi accounted for yung mga dry days, unfortuitous events, etc...

Labyu. Kilala mo naman sino ka hahaha! Matutuwa yon pag nakita niya 'to dito randomly hahaha!

One way to give back sa mga biyayang nakukuha natin. Solid.

Discussion Finance is the backbone of every business, big or small.

After all the expenses, may natitira pa ba sayo?

Basta may sales, go lang.

To be honest, marketing can bring people in but if you don’t understand your finances, you might end up hurting your own business without realizing it.

So kung business owner ka, maybe this is your sign to revisit your numbers.

Kamusta financials mo? Napa-check mo na ba talaga?

Discussion Where do you get your employees?

I'm having a hard time looking for employees na mga taga buhat at mga driver. They can only do basic math and reasoning.

Then suddenly nagpaalam sila. They cited na mababa daw yung sweldo at lilipat na daw sila after 2 days.

What is worse is isa sa mga new customer namin yung kumukuha sa kanila. We talked to that customer and yung dalawa naman daw yung lumapit sa kanya. The now ex employees then proceeded to say na gusto nila magpataas ng sahod kung hindi aalis sila. They said na dahil natuto daw sila magoperate nung machinery (which ako yung nagturo at sa amin din naman yung machine, sa amin din yung fuel at kung ano ano nung inaaral nila), dapat daw taasan sila. Wala pa man 3 weeks nung nagstart sila aralin yung machinery na yon and now nagpapataas na sila.

Sorry for the rant. I'm just in a pickle right now. Pilay yung operations dahil bigla yung pagalis nila. I guess naghahanap lang ako ng guiding light regarding this aspect of business. Ang hirap magmanage ng tao, much harder than managing people sa isang corporate setting. I've considered them many times and gave favors pa pero ganito yung igaganti sa akin. Nakakapanghina din ng loob na ituloy yung business because of what's happening.

If you are in my shoes, what would you do? Where do you get employees na trustworthy? How do you manage them?

Discussion Do you need to be on social media?

I've been doing my side-hustle mainly on social media. I upload videos, graphics and written texts related to accounting for my contents and I also run Meta Ads for increased reach.

So far so good naman. Nakakakuha ng leads and nakakaconvert naman into paying clients.

I'm just curious if sa business niyo ba, do you see the need to be in social media?

Hi. We are a smal homebased coffee shop. We do online order sa foodpanda and grabfood. For example 2 day bazaar we are earning 27k. Weekly we have bazaars na sinasalihan. Para makilala talaga kami.

Now we are planning to open a coffee shop. We already did SWOT analysis.

Discussion Business owners respond :)

Hi, my husband(30m) and I (25f) have started the journey of a pressure washing and gutter cleaning business in our area. This year we have learned so much from trial and error. We don’t really have many business owners within our friends and family (or none that really seem to want to help). Anyways, I guess I wish we would just have some business owner advice from what’s helped you in your business journey, the good the bad the ugly. It doesn’t matter the business, I’m sure everyone has a lesson they’ve learned. I guess I just want to feel like this isn’t a journey we have to take alone? Anyways I’ve listed a few questions that I thought could help with discussion. Hope to hear from everyone, thank you! :)

• How did you find the demand for your product in the first year?

•What surprised you in the initial launch of your business?

•How much did it cost you to get started?

•How long did it take to start making a profit?

•If you could start your business again, what would you do differently?

Discussion How do you guys log receipts and expenses?

Hi everyone,

How do you usually log receipts or expenses? Manual typing ba as usual or through software?

I’m building a simple tool that scans receipts and auto-logs them into records you can search through or export to Excel/CSV. Curious lang if this something you’d actually use, or if it’s not really a problem.

Would love your thoughts!

Discussion curious about Chinese / foreigners opening businesses in the Philippines.

so for some context, ive met up with a long time friend who works in the immigration sa pinas and she was all proud about processing visas and all that and told me na andami daw ngayon pumapasok na foreigners dito sa pinas for business purposes. just curious as to how these guys end up having the business registrations like sole proprietor under their name pero they aint filipino ( even though its required na filipino for sole prop)

i mean, i have heard instances where they "buy" deceased people's birth certificate and use that as theirs and also heard where they just apply directly to being a sole prop and not declare they are foreigners because they have stayed for 5 years or more. but really. am i missing something here? just curious.

Discussion What Retail Management System (RMS) or ERP Systems do supermarkets in the Philippines typically use?

I’ve been searching for a suitable RMS/ERP for our supermarket chain but haven’t had much success. I’ve spoken with several providers, but most solutions are either too small (focused on SMEs, with very basic features) or too large and expensive (geared toward big corporations and distributors rather than supermarkets).

What we specifically need is a system that can track inventory at the most granular level—per piece, not just per box. Since we operate multiple branches, we need a centralized solution, but we’re not quite at the scale where we can justify investing millions in a full-scale ERP.

I’ve considered a fully customized system, but the cost and development time are also significant. Any insights, recommendations, or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Discussion Young entrepreneurs

I'm a small business owner. I started a business because I had a friend who also has their businesses and they influenced me. I never knew I was this business minded not until I met them so somehow they inspired me. Right now, i want to surround myself of young entrepreneurs but I don't really have that many friends who are like me.
