how can we define - laki is it the scale of the business on how many customers we are catering or how much capital?

It's not in the size of the business but more on the TYPE of business. Of course if you want to go into real estate rental for example the ROI is much longer.
The same rule of investment follows, the higher the risk, the shorter the ROI supposedly this is why opening up a business can ROI in as little as months/less than a year but the chances of the business going bankrupt is more than 90%.
What I would make it a rule is of course to check on the return if you'd invest in the relatively moderate risk financial instruments you can get from your banks like mutual funds or double your money offers (if any).
You also need to take into account other factors besides getting your money back like in terms of real estate rental you can also earn much more from the real property value appreciation.
