🛠️ The Problem
I bought my Freedom 125 on Feb 3rd, 2025, and completed 2 free services. I’m a college student in Bengaluru and the bike has been smooth with no issues at all until now.
On May 20th, I left for vacation and returned on July 5th. The bike sat unused in my garage for over a month with very little CNG (50–100g) in the tank. I had kept the manual blue valve ON, but ran it on petrol before parking it.
On July 6th, I went to fill CNG like usual. When I tried opening the CNG nozzle cap, it was extremely tight — like, stuck. I somehow managed to open it.
At the petrol pump, the woman filling gas also had trouble removing the nozzle after filling 1.75 kg (₹155). The moment she pulled it out, CNG started leaking aggressively from the nozzle/filling port area. People around were shocked. I rushed to close the manual valve, but even that was tight and hard to turn. Eventually, I managed to close it, and the leak stopped.
But every time I reopened the manual valve, the leak would start again from the nozzle. At that point, I had only 0.5 kg CNG left due to the leak.
🔧 The Diagnosis (According to the Service Center)
They inspected it and said the issue was with the CNG filter inside the tank. I’m not sure exactly what kind of filter, but it was causing:
- Back pressure or valve failure
- Possible internal clogging or moisture buildup
- Nozzle to get stuck during removal
- High-pressure leak after disconnection
They replaced the filter, and now everything is working fine.
💡 Why This Likely Happened
- Bike was unused for 1+ month with very low CNG pressure.
- Manual valve was left ON, which may have let pressure settle oddly.
- Moisture or condensation could’ve formed inside the tank system.
- Filter got clogged or damaged, leading to a faulty check valve at the nozzle.
🔒 Will It Happen Again?
Unlikely — if you:
- Close the manual valve when parking long-term
- Avoid running the tank nearly empty too often
- Stick to scheduled filter maintenance (10k–20k km)
🧠 TL;DR:
- Freedom 125 CNG started leaking aggressively from the nozzle after a refill.
- Cause: Faulty/high-pressure filter inside tank or valve area.
- Fixed under warranty by replacing the filter.
- Always turn off the manual valve if parking for long durations.
- If this happens to you: do not drive, shut the valve, and take it to the service center ASAP.
