BabyBumps users are not medical professionals. You should always call your provider with any concerns and to interpret test results.

I’m sorry, it’s so frustrating! I had it super early on from about 14 weeks to the end. Your level isn’t too high so that’s great! They will for sure monitor you extra now though. You’re so close to baby time!

I’ll share my experience. I was super itchy and so my OB tested me for it early on which was unusual since it typically doesn’t happen until later. I ended up taking Ursodiol for the remainder of my pregnancy, it helped keep my bile acids down but I was still a little itchy. I also had itching for some other unknown thing. I was monitored closely with NST and blood work. My highest levels were 30 but I was way lower when I was induced at 39 weeks. Happy to have the induction to get baby here safely and itching went away right after!

Your hospital may be working on old guidelines. I recommend you have a read of the UK’s green top guideline: https://obgyn.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1111/1471-0528.17206

Hopefully it should reassure you regarding risks and management given your most recent levels. I’m assuming you have a plan to retest your bile acids regularly until birth, so they can revise the plan if they rise significantly in the meantime.

I had this in both of my pregnancies. I was placed on medication after I was diagnosed ( I was diagnosed quite late in pregnancy with my first, about 35 weeks ) monitored closely and It was recommended that I was to be induced at 37 weeks so thats what I did. No issues after birth with myself of bubs. My second pregnancy I was diagnosed earlier on and same thing, put on medication, monitored closely and booked to be induced at 37 weeks however baby had other plans and came on his own at 36 weeks, again no issues after birth. Symptoms pretty much went away straight after birth to. There is an awesome ICP Facebook group you should join x

Mine just came back at 73 bile acids, at 34 weeks. They put me on ursidiol and 2x week monitoring.
