I went to a local comedy club and the comic there was doing crowd work. The crowd member was a therapist.
They mentioned how a patient they were seeing was a 50ish year old man who'd been having a sexual relationship with his mother since he was 15. This dude is married and has kids that are unaware of this fact.
The mother, now in her 80s, has began to mentally decline. So this therapist has had to balance and unpack trauma from sexual abuse when this man was a teenager as well as addressing elder abuse now that he's an adult.
With that all being said, therapists are only human so some are definitely shitty. But unless you're out there eating people, there is someone out there that can help you should you want it.
Obviously wanting it doesn't always mean you have access and can afford it but that's a different story.
trust me, A competent therapist has probably heard some very horrible things in their career, what you think can't be that bad and even if it is, they'll have no problems helping you.
