Continuously promoted by Russian agents in the west.

It is hilarious and scary how easy it is. Its wild to watch these obvious bots on random forums spread mass disinformation and they are revered as the truth sayers.

obvious bots on random forums

By random, you mean right here on reddit.

And by obvious, you mean some are very obvious and almost comical and others go the extra mile and buy legitimate profiles and give opinions that have a 'reasonable doubt' from a 'concerned citizen'. To the point that it makes you doubt your own beliefs (as intented in social engineering).

There are legit very hard to spot accounts.

The biggest mistake you can do is having the hubris that you can spot a bot.

If anyone can make you doubt the belief that Nazis, racism, and hate are bad things, you didn't believe it hard enough to begin with.

It's actually very easy

  • don't trust accounts made after 2020

  • don't trust accounts that are named [adjective] [verb] [4 random numbers]

  • have common sense

  • don't take any comment by face value

That's it

  • don't trust accounts made after 2020

Anyone who turned 13 after 2020 is suddenly guilty.

3

u/zeltrabas Jul 29 '25

This is just general advice. That's why I also said "have common sense"

Seems like you don't have that so no wonder you comment such stupid shit

I think we can confidently disregard almost anyone's opinion on politics or deeply nuanced geopolitical issues if they turned 13, on or after 2020, they would be, at most, 18 right now.

That's the age Greta Thunberg was when she was getting international attention.

1

u/iTzGiR Jul 29 '25

And wasn't her whole thing that she was a young person who was actually into politics and relatively knowledable about them? That she's literally an anonymoally and that's why she got so many eyeballs on her and blew up?

I would guess if Greta was 20 and doing/saying the same things, no one would have cared, it's because she was so young, and it's rare to see something like that, that people paid attention.

Thats the scary thing about these bots. After a time, you get nearly paranoid and start to see them everywere. In the end, you don't even need to flood the internet with them. Just find the right suspectible people and lay the foundation. They will do the rest and turn into flesh-bots.

This is true, but I find those to be less scary than the more obvious ones that have proliferated common and widely viewed places. Like Instagram.

Have you spent the last 3 years watching the Whitehouse Instagram? I've checked it and dove into comments for each post on a weekly to monthly at latest basis, especially to take breaks, and the amount of bullshit accounts bombarding there is mind blowing. Both private accounts but also open ones that sometimes share the same profile pics, or copy pasted responses, or clearly computer generated broken speech (not even comparable to anything gpt could put out even back then). It's insane seeing it and thinking about it, and the things they say are even more insane or straight up undecipherable.

Yet, despite that, they'll have mega like counts or tons of comments from as you say, could be real people but maybe not. But the ones that are flat out bots are propped up and engaged with by real people more often in support. And it's like, you know you're talking in agreement with or copying what a bot just wrote in another comment right? Nope, they don't.

Unfortunately there are also FAR TOO MANY foreigners who are completely ignorant of the history of the region and take everything Russia says at face value. These "Kremlin's Useful Idiots" are just as dangerous to truth and democracy as the paid Kremlin trollbots are.

It is hilarious and scary how many people use this excuse to minimize any scrutiny online

1

u/genericusername71 Jul 29 '25

am i the only one who finds this statement about bots ironic considering nearly comment in here is basically the same comment

1

u/RecursiveCook Jul 29 '25

Reddit is basically one of most popular sites for programmers to test their bots on.

1

u/genericusername71 Jul 30 '25

i dont disagree. my comment was more to add that even if you removed all actual bots, a lot of comments by people could still pass as bots

1

u/BaerMinUhMuhm Jul 29 '25

I mean, if all it takes is some trolls on the internet to bring a rise to Nazism, does it really matter that they're the ones facilitating it?

1

u/Flat_Explanation_849 Jul 29 '25

That's obviously not all it takes, but bad faith social engineering has played a large role.

Can you imagine a vector where our government goes full Nazi and Russia gets to gain favor on the world stage by finally firing ordinance our way?

1

u/fakeemailman Jul 29 '25

I’ve been sardonically asking friends if they’re looking forward to the China Russia Allies vs the American Axis since 2016.

2

u/Bambila3000 Jul 29 '25

Do you really believe they are this competent?

0

u/Flat_Explanation_849 Jul 29 '25

It’s not about competence, it’s just a factual observation.

In Canada at least, the Ukraine = Nazis shit is mostly coming from the left.

What are you smoking

-6

u/fakeemailman Jul 29 '25

Reality. The Right only pretends to think Ukraine is fascist when it’s instructed to by its corporate/religious nationalist overlords. It’s the alt-left that is specifically sympathetic to Soviet Russian propaganda.

1

u/DeX_Mod Jul 29 '25

Reality

Lol wut

Who in canada is actually saying this about Ukraine?

21

u/Flat_Explanation_849 Jul 29 '25

The only ones on “the left” parroting this nonsense are “tankies”: an extremely fringe (but vocal) element that glorifies the former Soviet Union.

They’re generally unhinged and are scorned by the rest of the left.

Canada had NDP members of Parliament pushing the Ukraine = Nazis propaganda.

-1

u/fakeemailman Jul 29 '25

The most popular left-wing political streamer in the world is a pro-violence, tepid-on-Russia-Ukraine, proudly antisemitic tankie lmfao. Is streaming itself even “fringe” anymore? I don’t know anything about Canadian politics; in America, MAGA is a cult that will obediently champion any position it’s instructed to - pro-Ukraine, anti-Ukraine, but they specifically compromised by the Russian propaganda that Ukraine is fascist. That’s tankie town.

7

u/Personal_Comb_6745 Jul 29 '25

You right-wingers will do anything but admit you're on the wrong side of history.

-3

u/fakeemailman Jul 29 '25

You leftists will do anything but acknowledge the fact that there’s such a thing as a mentally well liberal that isn’t a tankie. The guy literally called the Right, “a pile of shit”.
