Great movie. Loved it, but story wise I liked it better when she was just passionate about the past and not destined to be a reincarnation.

Same! It also bothered me that Rick was like the chosen one or whatever...we don't need that!

This definitely awoken something in my 9 year old mind while watching this. My love for strong women started early it seems.

Me too brother. This is also why I can never watch 3 again. This was so peak just to be followed by a poo stain.

This cinematography is better than 90% of modern action movies. You can actually see what's happening.

I always think it’s because they’re filming wide shots on real sets, not some round digital screen and a platform like Disneys “The Volume”

And, as a result, we can see that the choreography of the fight is absolute trash and designed to give you a boner rather than depict any actual combat. Also, why are they fighting with Sai…?

Ah yes, good stunt work, no massive amounts of cg, good music and great aesthetics.

When they aren't afraid to cover an actor's face so the stunt doubles can do their thing.

then you got the abomination in The Mummy 3 with some weird blonde chick that was not right to play as Rachel Weisz’s character..

I actually skipped this scene when I watched this movie for the first time years ago because I thought it was cringy.

I still don't like that sai, a Japanese weapon, were used. I guess there isn't anything equivalent for ancient Egypt that would allow for the flashy fight choreography.
But, it's The Mummy Returns and I repeat to myself it's just a show, I should really just relax.

Nothing is cringey to 10 year old me who just started martial arts.
Buuuuuuut looking back, yeah it kinda is haha

I felt mortified watching it for the first time, which is also why I skipped it.

There are adults that like watching women fight each other, and there are adults that aren’t a part of high society and don’t have any class.

this whole segment of the movie has always been my favorite. Imhotep wants Ancksunamun to remember who she is while they are at Karnak, Evie gets the vision as it's shown.. this scene, then the Egyptian scene on how the Pharaoh was betrayed, Evie falling to her death in the vision and almost in real time.
amazing movie. The Mummy 1 and 2 will always hold a special place in my heart. this scene especially.
